So if you add the 140 to the total of people on here that voted in the other thread and even if all those people that voted bought 3 tees each, which they all wouldn't of, it would still be under 500. Do you honestly believe there's that many people that are not on either forum that bought this? I doubt very much. And surely if he sold 1000's as many seem to think, the numbers on either forum would easily blow the 500 out of the ballpark long ago.
People need to remember this is a tshirt, same with the invaders, you have to remember that even people that wanted them, they still had to be free when they went up and many didnt read about it and many just don't want it cause they collect art, not tshirts. i know of a lot of people not on the forum that bought t shirts, and bought multiples up to 5 t's each.
it was all over facebook twitter instagram ect, and all the known/big and unknown artists were spreading the news also.
hope it bne didnt oversell but he keeps lying so only time will tell i guess.

"Banksy" is currently an active trademark. If you click goods and services to expand it you'll see that it covers clothing, specifically tshirts. Even if banksy posted that sentence of "Banksy has not made any t-shirts for a water charity," if BNE doesn't have permission then he can't use that sentence. He can't even write "Bansky" because it is confusingly similar.
The defenses to trademark infringement are fair use and parody. I really don't believe that this would fall into either category. So with the "theory" that Banksy has given him a gift by putting that statement up on his website, if BNE doesn't have permission, he can't really use it on the shirt. It also doesn't help that it isn't fully for charity and there is some profit there that is paying the person in india or whatever he said.
Just some insight into more of the legal matters that I'm sure some people aren't aware of. Another discussion that shouldn't take place here (although this whole thread is pretty much unnecessary) is how banksy was able to trademark what would be considered a pseudonym without using his name. Interesting thing. I was looking up the banksy trademark and came across this. tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=85198175&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch"Banksy" is currently an active trademark. If you click goods and services to expand it you'll see that it covers clothing, specifically tshirts. Even if banksy posted that sentence of "Banksy has not made any t-shirts for a water charity," if BNE doesn't have permission then he can't use that sentence. He can't even write "Bansky" because it is confusingly similar. The defenses to trademark infringement are fair use and parody. I really don't believe that this would fall into either category. So with the "theory" that Banksy has given him a gift by putting that statement up on his website, if BNE doesn't have permission, he can't really use it on the shirt. It also doesn't help that it isn't fully for charity and there is some profit there that is paying the person in india or whatever he said. Just some insight into more of the legal matters that I'm sure some people aren't aware of. Another discussion that shouldn't take place here (although this whole thread is pretty much unnecessary) is how banksy was able to trademark what would be considered a pseudonym without using his name.
