Have a moan about your footie team or sing their prasies., by Deleted on May 4, 2014 20:59:51 GMT 1, Well Bristol Rovers are out of the football league for the first time in 92 years. The fans are rightly annoyed and upset in equal measures. There was a pitch invasion, arrests and violence with someone punching a police horse (not sure how to feel about that, although I have to admit to chuckling, they are massive) and two police officers were also punched. The club is moving forward in one respect and backwards in another. I hope that we can get our stadium built and get back into the league at the 1st attempt. What i would give for 2 seasons in the top flight. I think going bust is far more likely.
Still supporting Bristol academy WFC helps to sooth the pain.

Have a moan about your footie team or sing their prasies., by Jeezuz Jones Snr on May 4, 2014 22:01:10 GMT 1, Slammer so sorry you gone out of the leagues mate. Being a Swansea fan, playing rovers was one of the biggest games when we met you the lower leaugues (on and off the pitch!!). We were 91st in the leaugue 11 years ago going out of business, then we beat Hull to stay in the leaugue. The club was sold for a pound, 20% owned by fans now we are in our 4th premier season and making a profit each year. It's amazing really but shows it can happen if the club is run properly financially. Most clubs these days wait for rich owners like QPr and now Cardiff who have gone down with massive debt.
You'll be back mate an hopefully climb the divisions quickly. Cheers

All away ends were dodgy back then especially night games. Cardiff relegated and they could slide like Portsmouth if their crazy owner backs out (170m quid in debt apparently spent getting to the prem, crazyness!!) telegation could be good for them as their fans have been deluded for years, so with a bit of reality they will get back stronger. Newport climbing back up the divisions and Wrexham still struggling.. Take it easy and good luck next year.

Have a moan about your footie team or sing their prasies., by letiss on May 5, 2014 10:29:30 GMT 1, Excellent season for Saints, which has included Rickie, Rodriquez, Lallana and Shaw all getting their first England caps. The club's billionaire owner deciding to take a hands on interest in the club and sacking Cortese along the way was a good move too. So very happy with 8th place that was only slightly overshadowed by setting the team seemingly to lose against Sunderland in the FA Cup and our star Italian international going on the rampage at the training ground.

I remember selling Lambert to you for ยฃ1 million. I thought you were mad paying that for him. He was a good goal scorer but one paced and I thought a Division 1 player at best. just after we sold him to you we played you at your ground and it was a wicked game with Rovers winning 2-3 with a very late goal. Really good goal it was by Andy Williams. Great new ground and what an atmosphere. Really pleased to see you in the top flight and doing well.

It's a trip to my local team then, Aldershot, who despite having had ten points deducted and started the season with all new players managed to stay in the Conference on goal difference.
As a child in Bristol, and then again an Easton resident and occasional visitor to Eastville, in the mid 80's, I sympathsise. But the Conference isn't that bad; plenty of former league clubs now inhabit it. And from a selfish point of few atleast Rovers will bring a healthy number of away supporters to the Rec. And vice versa.
I'm first and foremost a Leeds fan....but that's a whole thread!

Have a moan about your footie team or sing their prasies., by Deleted on May 5, 2014 13:19:18 GMT 1, I've been to Aldershot many years ago on New years day. Rovers lost 3-0. can't say i'm looking forward to going again. There are lots of former league clubs in the conference and that's what makes it even harder to take. If you don't get out on the first attempt, it's a real struggle.

I'm a Wednesday fan, we managed to survive but I'm under no illusions it'll be the same battle against relegation next year. I'm ok with that. At least we're not risking our future chasing the endless rainbow.

Didn't know you were a Wednesday fan mate. Was a good last fans of the season we had a few years ago!! Well, good for Palace!! Good honest side are Wednesday. I am delighted with our season. Hopes at the start were fourth from bottom. So to finish mid table will be a sublime end! Especially as everyone had us as faves to go down again before the season started and felt the same until over half way through! If Liverpool don't win the title, Pulis should get manager of the year. I will be at the Fulham game, to celebrate the season! So, no loans here at all.
Also my rugby side are doing very well - Northampton saints. Home semi final will be just fine. But I can't anyone other than Sarecens winning the final.

Have a moan about your footie team or sing their prasies., by Ruggs on May 5, 2014 16:51:58 GMT 1, Well done Mick McCarthy on getting us (ITFC) to ninth and on the fringes of the play-offs this season. He only spent twenty odd grand on an Irish youngster and got in a few decent lone players and free transfers and is slowly but surely moulding a side together that should challenge for the play-offs at the very least next season. COYB!

Have a moan about your footie team or sing their prasies., by Graham H on May 5, 2014 17:04:01 GMT 1, As a Burnley fan of 25 + years! I can only say that this season has been the best I or most living clarets have ever seen.
Admitted we got in to the Premier League 5 years ago, but through the play offs..w whereas this season we have done it in style, breaking record after record.. Best Championship defence, lowest amount of players used by a club, most clean sheets, two 20 plus goalscorers, football league players player of the year in Danny Ings, everyone's choice of manager of the year.
I also respect that Leicester City won the league.. But as our expectations were driven by surviving relegation, our promotion has been miraculous..with only one player in the last 18 months bought, with a fee of ยฃ450k and our best player sold ( Charlie Austin ) 3 days before the start of the season..
And.. Beating 3 local rivals away , Bolton ( 28 years ) Blackpool ( 5 years ) and b*stard Rovers for the first time home or away for 34 years.. This season could not have been better.
As you can probably tell.. I'm a happy happy!

Relegation will be good for them as they had been totally deluded for years and bent over for their sugar daddy's $$. They will be back and better for it, lose a few fans which will stop the infighting.
Agree coach pullis done a great job, no Europa for the swans next year so 'you'd think' we'd do a little better? Hull have the Europa so hey need to strengthen or they could go down. Chuffed for burnley getting up ahead of the big spenders, enjoy next season fella..
