Choose Your Weapon (silver flake or white edition ) or Laugh Now AP?, by sommguy on Jun 27, 2014 6:35:04 GMT 1, I am Soo torn here. the investment move is the CYW white. i get it. but i love the Laugh now i know the AP doesn't have a color change like others. but it is one of the first pulls and a true AP. but he CYW in white is Soo sick!!! the stencil work is really highlighted in that one. and the silver version has a rad flake in the paint. It's unreal.
Before anyone disses this situation. it is very real. going direct thru a friend in los angeles and all have COA.
SO can you help me this decision? its a lot of money, even on a friends and family deal. but still below price for a NON A/P ( regular signed edition ). I don't think it is right to quote the prices. and i don't want to fuck this up for me, by doing the wrong thing.... you know?

Many on here would love to be in a position to be able to make a decision between a rare CYW and a signed LN. You are in a privileged position.
Buy the piece that plucks your heart strings, or, save your money,

Choose Your Weapon (silver flake or white edition ) or Laugh Now AP?, by Deleted on Jun 27, 2014 9:42:18 GMT 1, CYW is meh.Its Bansky announcing his retirement from retail printmaking with the production of a set of colourways that are really all beige.
It is a gallery owners / marketers dream a range of colours to fit whatever ghastly sterile place the target market live in. A USP - will it or wont it be the last ever bansky print ? 'mericans can relate cos its got a nod toward Haring Not too political, scarey or critical ( cf. golf sale/ naplam) dinksome size
it has been ramped/ talked up on this board for some time now. I dont get it as something I want on my wall for anything above cost price.

I believe the CYW to be a better future investment mostly because of the hype and the low edition of the individual colours. But the Laugh Now is a true classic and would get my vote in the end.

Choose Your Weapon (silver flake or white edition ) or Laugh Now AP?, by Deleted on Jun 27, 2014 10:53:37 GMT 1, If you're talking purely investment its a tricky one, Laugh Now is a classic and half the price and I think in the long run the classics like this and Bomb Hugger etc will become more sought after by collectors, on the other hand the CYW White is shrowded in mystery, more talked about than seen and collectors often want what not many have. It also depends on what price your "friend" is offering them for, hard to give a straight answer without that info. The Laugh Now AP shouldn't have too hefty a premium over the 150 edition, its basically an extra 27 produced but marked AP, worth a little more but not a lot. Drop me a pm if you like, that's if the forum doesn't swallow it and spit it out in the FS section!

Choose Your Weapon (silver flake or white edition ) or Laugh Now AP?, by lee3 on Jun 27, 2014 16:23:44 GMT 1, >>>The Laugh Now AP shouldn't have too hefty a premium over the 150 edition, its basically an extra 27 produced but marked AP, worth a little more but not a lot. <<<
Agreed that it doesn't carry too hefty a premium today over the standard edition but my hunch is it will down the line (btw laugh now AP run is 69 which is his largest AP run to date that i'm aware of).
Laugh now AP should be similarly priced with that CYW silver and both are probably 10k sterling less than the CYW white. It's a tough call to me as I put laugh now in the handful of most iconic images he's done and many would put in the top two or three. For me, just being honest, the bothersome side to that edition is the brown color which has less pop. Personally, I'd remove the CYW white and keep the 10k in my pocket and choose between the other pair but nice problem to have. And on the other hand, those white CYW's take up a lot more wall space than either of the other pair of prints you're considering because the signature is so low on the paper (as long as you're not floating them). Good luck

Choose Your Weapon (silver flake or white edition ) or Laugh Now AP?, by lee3 on Jun 27, 2014 16:35:09 GMT 1, ^ yeah that is 27 and there again, i think that one will carry a larger premium over the standard edition down the line. In fact, i think any AP will carry a significant premium if it doesn't already. These things trade by appointment anyway so really tough to use my finger to the wind for pricing.

Need someone else in LA to help you decide by picking up one of the others?

I have see more white, gold and silver than other colors.

Choose Your Weapon (silver flake or white edition ) or Laugh Now AP?, by Deleted on Jun 28, 2014 2:56:17 GMT 1, I am Soo torn here. the investment move is the CYW white. i get it. but i love the Laugh now i know the AP doesn't have a color change like others. but it is one of the first pulls and a true AP. but he CYW in white is Soo sick!!! the stencil work is really highlighted in that one. and the silver version has a rad flake in the paint. It's unreal. Before anyone disses this situation. it is very real. going direct thru a friend in los angeles and all have COA. SO can you help me this decision? its a lot of money, even on a friends and family deal. but still below price for a NON A/P ( regular signed edition ). I don't think it is right to quote the prices. and i don't want to f**k this up for me, by doing the wrong thing.... you know? I personally think the real investment move is the Laugh Now. CYW is in some weird bubble right now, whereas everyone regards Laugh Now as "classic Banksy," whatever that means. I was also never too crazy about CYW; I think I convinced myself I liked it more recently because of the hype, but it was one of the few Banksy images that I used to tell myself I'd never try to purchase.
Edit: Monkeys.

Just can't remember seeing one in decent nick Yeah it is a big problem with it, I think to a degree that's why some of the later Banksys have went beyond some of the classics, not so many issues, people knew the likes of Nola and CYW were already worth decent money when released so they've been better looked after and the quality of the paper is better. I honestly think in the long term smaller issues will become more acceptable with earlier Banksys.

That def was a factor, I think now as his audience is literally worldwide theres appeal across the board except a few like WSM, soupcans etc which appeal moreso to the uk market. Part of the appeal of Nola is its family friendly and now we're seeing other family friendly pieces like NBG, S&S start to rise well. Probably to a degree because some of the others are out of reach to many folk as well, hence the dramatic rise in unsigned lately.

Plus you won't have to go through all the Pest Control dramatics of registering your name as a new owner which is just a ploy to keep prices high.
No other ltd editions are registered each time they change hands.
