There certainly seems to be a more aggressive attitude of late. I am hoping that people decide that it's much more pleasant to have a friendly jovial forum.

I don't know whether or not the attitude is more aggressive of late, but if it is, it is a sad reflection of the times that we live in. There definitely seems to be a lot more provocation going on from "external forces" (?), even more reason to stick together. |

There does however remain an under current of good, positive and kind people who for me, made me feel very welcome and encouraged me to become part of a community.
If you are thinking of leaving, please stay. Your help and guidance is appreciated by so many.
Thank you to all those I've met in my time here and I look forward to all those I'm yet to encounter.

I even miss trolls like ChiTownhero.

To all the flippers, I can only ask that you respect all forum members and realize that most of our members do care more about the art itself than turning a buck. This is why you will probably be unsuccessful here if you price your art on the high side of the market or above. Most members of this forum know art and the market well, so relax and price your art accordingly and when someone gives you s**t for your outrageous valuations please don't try to angrily justify your position thereby insulting the intelligence of the members of this forum. Just take ten deep breaths and move on.

The fact is there have always been flippers on this forum, maybe not to the extent there are now but they have always existed here. Regarding their attitude, I think it is up to us to take a page out of Coach's playbook and somehow calmly and rationally make them realize that this forum is a community of art enthusiast and not just a marketing tool for flippers to sell their wares. As in life there is a bell curve of tolerance but attitudes will never change without dialog and understanding. Now, I don't know exactly what went down with Daniel and the Guardians but I know it must have been substantial for us to lose so many at once. However, I think you should put your attitude toward past grievances in your back pocket because it's not doing any good in regards to setting an example of positive attitudes. In any forum there all trolls. Just don't feed them. ;-)
There are more than enough members old and newer on here that both love art and maintain a largely positive personal and social standard. Hope some of the long standing members stick around and still share their thoughts, collections, etc..

Must be nice to doddle through life like that! It's not a matter of personal opinion FR, it's a matter of fact. Artist such as Dolk, Adam Neate, Dface, Nick Walker and Banksy himself checked this board on a regular basis. Some of Banksy's closest confidents dropped info and corrected wild myths. Others became experts in the field through a love of the street work and went on to write books, become professional street art photographers, curators, open galleries and become known artsts themselves, Ludo for example. It was around the time you yourself joined, the original flipper, that people realised things were changing. To say these EB characters and their Americam dream of getting rich by transitioning from flipping band posters to flipping street art prints hasn't changed the community is fundamentally wrong. The fact that more and more new members are embracing this aspect of the culture without any deep knowledge of the cultures rich history and its characters, simply leads to the likes of Bambi and a whole host of other sub par and derivitive works on here that are touted as the next big thing. Until next time. Coach is one of the few members left who has a genuine and deep understanding of the culture and the values it serves to promote, Often the antithesis of the values promoted on here much of the time. |

This is still a great knowledgable forum, I can't comment on Eb or their members, more members to any forum is good as long as they don't stir up shit and cause decent members to pack it in.. there's a lot more shit happening in the world and we moan about art , enjoy life
I post on NBF also, good forum without the argumentative sales threads you get here. People change, get older, different responsibilities etc. so don't post as much here, or they got banned when they shouldn't have been? It's not a matter of personal opinion FR, it's a matter of fact. Artist such as Dolk, Adam Neate, Dface, Nick Walker and Banksy himself checked this board on a regular basis. Some of Banksy's closest confidents dropped info and corrected wild myths. Others became experts in the field through a love of the street work and went on to write books, become professional street art photographers, curators, open galleries and become known artsts themselves, Ludo for example. It was around the time you yourself joined, the original flipper, that people realised things were changing. To say these EB characters and their Americam dream of getting rich by transitioning from flipping band posters to flipping street art prints hasn't changed the community is fundamentally wrong. The fact that more and more new members are embracing this aspect of the culture without any deep knowledge of the cultures rich history and its characters, simply leads to the likes of Bambi and a whole host of other sub par and derivitive works on here that are touted as the next big thing. Until next time. Coach is one of the few members left who has a genuine and deep understanding of the culture and the values it serves to promote, Often the antithesis of the values promoted on here much of the time.
