Martin Whatson En Pointe Print Release, by eschiff on Jul 30, 2014 13:31:40 GMT 1, wow people really don't like it when others critique a piece of art they like huh? All of the sudden you're bitter and angry. Who needs depth and meaning when you can have pointy feet and tags! If only she was wearing a baclava we'd have urban art nirvana. GP, you can't think Banksy's work would be thought of in such regard if it had no meaning. If it wasn't making a statement. Anyway, off to my bitter angry art club meeting...enjoy your pretty ballerina don't think the problem was with your opinion of the piece. think it was your assumption and paranoia that everyone who likes the print has something to gain from enjoying it. fair enough, i did say that i now realise you weren't involved as your post in the other thread led me to believe. Anyway, late for the angry meeting, must run

Martin Whatson En Pointe Print Release, by Deleted on Jul 30, 2014 13:49:46 GMT 1, I still somewhat suspect that BOTI was part of a Banksy film project in the works as well. So many random no-name international TV crews were interviewing people at every piece; seemed very ETTGS. I'm sure Banksy and his team cover all the bases and exploit his art and antics as much as possible commercially as well as for maximum publicity.
Playing the outsider graffiti street artist to the crowd while playing the insider selling through auction houses etc as a business.
Say what one likes about Banksy but he is good at visual one liners.
and reproducing some stock images

Martin Whatson En Pointe Print Release, by Deleted on Jul 30, 2014 13:53:30 GMT 1, As an art forum allowing reactions of all sorts is appropriate, from fan behavior to criticism and everything in between. As long as it doesn't venture into one becoming the troll under the bridge. I'm all for art discussion and critique. What I don't enjoy is someone questioning my motives (I don't have one) or integrity especially since all I'm offering is my opinion of this piece. Would I face the same criticism if I said I didn't like the piece? I don't like everything. I just really like this image. I'm not a negative person so if I don't like something I usually choose to not say anything rather say something negative, since who am I to tell someone else their taste is wrong? ah yes grasshopper, u broke the unwritten rule that one cannot praise other artists more than Banksy.
U will have to praise the Bankster a bit and all will be well and no sinister motive allegations raised against u on this faram again.
there again it's just me being sarcastic.

Proof to back up this claim.

It's blatantly obvious.
Has Banksy ever made a stencil graffiti on a public building or monument etc?

It's better to spray on monuments and government buildings. Less chance they art will be Bank Robbed or the wall sold by a house property owner.

Martin Whatson En Pointe Print Release, by Deleted on Jul 30, 2014 14:19:32 GMT 1, Not sorry to be a scratched record but has Whatson ever painted illegally on the street?? Stop selling us some fake ass sh!t you clearly are not part of Do any of the ltd edition producing artists that sell thru galleries paint illegally?
In some countries it's easy to paint on the streets and other countries a lot more expensive if caught.
The artists that use the big hi lifts and scaffold etc etc and make very big art on walls taking days do it all with permission these days.
Illegal art dépends on where it's painted and what whether the owner of the wall etc decides they want the artist prosecuted for criminal damage or decide not to prosecute.

I agree. I don't remember reading the street art rule book that said that someone has to paint illegally if they want to become a 'proper' artist.
Some of the amazing detail and sheer scale of a lot of street art today would make it impossible to paint illegally for many artists and usually someone using a High Loader gives the game away a bit! Things have moved on since the basic stencils used by Banksy years ago.

Maybe it's the way it's photographed?
Personally I think the body / face on the canvas is of a high standard but the mouth / nose on the print looks a bit different.
