BANKSY for £1000, by Deleted on Aug 4, 2014 9:41:54 GMT 1, May I suggest £20 a ticket with a target of at minimum 100 tickets that way the charity gets at least 2K It is a peach of a print!!! Sounds good i think £20 is still a sensible number for most to join in, i still havent decided whether to limit the number of tickets to 5 per person or have it unlimited, my own thoughts are unlimited to raise as much as possible but so far more seem to sway to 5 per person, open to thoughts

From a purely selfish point if view, it would be good if the tickets were limited. Perhaps to just one, to be sold to me.
But I think badrobot was right. Getting the most for the charity is the best way forward I think, which would mean unlimited tickets, and even selling them to other people, and not just me

BANKSY for £1000, by DrWhite on Aug 4, 2014 10:20:01 GMT 1, Andy. I'd tend to go with the majority wishes on this one, so that everyone feels that they have an equal chance of winning, it's such a worthy endeavour you don't want to spoil it with people feeling they are in a less favourable chance to win.

BANKSY for £1000, by sky8888 on Aug 4, 2014 10:29:03 GMT 1, I think considering the original aim of this was to give a banksy away to someone who maybe couldn't afford one, that a limit would be good
Considering the number of entries this will get anyway I think 2k could still be raised by this method

BANKSY for £1000, by johnnyh on Aug 4, 2014 10:50:13 GMT 1, I think a £20 a pop it will limit the number naturally. Not sure there are many people daft enough to buy more than 5 at that price. So a 5 limit seems perfectly good to me.
Also thought 20 kinda naturally hits on one or two tickets in reality per person making it a fair draw for everyone and hopefully the amount coming in gets into the value of the print for the charity. Also means tickets entries should stay within the forum. Would hate to see it flipped

BANKSY for £1000, by sky8888 on Aug 4, 2014 10:58:24 GMT 1, I think at £20 each some people may buy one or two, but at £10 each they are more likely to go for the full 5 knowing they have as much chance as anyone else and it's only £10 more than buying two at £20
Psychology!

BANKSY for £1000, by Deleted on Aug 4, 2014 11:23:12 GMT 1, Im still thinking it over, the original idea was to give a banksy away as a thank you to the forum, the thank you is to everyone, it wouldnt be the same without all the contributions no matter how large or small so it has to be fair that everyone has an equal chance to win, the charity then got involved so its important to raise as much as possible without loosing sight of the original purpose. I think limit to 5 is set now so everyone is on a level playing field, still cant make my mind up on the price, 20 potentially more person, 10 means more get get involved, keep your opinions coming...

BANKSY for £1000, by mmmike on Aug 4, 2014 11:56:22 GMT 1, My two cents are it is very nice of you to give someone a chance to buy a banksy cheap. It is way better of you to want to help people who are really in need. I haven't looked into you specific charity so I won't comment on that but I will say assuming it is a good one, no one should be heart broken if they don't get the Bansky but a good charity gets a lot of cash. If I were you my objective would be to raise as much money as possible and get as many people involved on the forum as you can. To that end I would say keep the price low and unlimited. That gives everyone a chance to enter and doesn't put restrictions on the amount of money that can be raised.
If the goal is to give a banksy to one person on the forum, that should make one person happy. If instead it is to raise a lot of money for charity, you can potentially bring together a whole lot of people on the forum all helping together focusing on the giving back bit not so much on the winning or loosing.
I think 10GBP gets more people involved and if one person buys 1000 tickets all the better. You only need one ticket to win.

BANKSY for £1000, by Shoot Again on Aug 4, 2014 12:08:42 GMT 1, Great gesture, and I'm sure whatever method you chose it will help raising a lot of money for a worthy charity ;-)
However :
1. It would be good if you could clarify whether the idea is to "give a Banksy away as a thank you to the forum" or to "give it to a forumite who could NOT afford it otherwise" ONLY ? 2. If the former (ie. everybody can participate"), on condition not to flip it obviously (!), then I reckon you'd need to extrapolate a bit how "independent" the raffle would be ;-)
Anyway, good on you and johnnyh, good to see some generosity like that...

BANKSY for £1000, by Deleted on Aug 4, 2014 12:21:28 GMT 1, Ok i think this will work, £10/E max 5/person, we want to raise the 2k minimum so thats 200 tickets, hopefully we will raise more but if theres a shortfall i'll make up the remaining amount to the 2000 target, obviously i wont take a ticket and this way the charity gets a good sum, the print reaches a decent price after johnnys generosity and more people will be able to afford to join in. Hopefully this is ok

BANKSY for £1000, by Deleted on Aug 4, 2014 12:31:58 GMT 1, Firstly thanks for the kind gesture dungle and also jonnhyh via pm, Lets see what gets offered and it looks like the overall consensus to help raise some money for people less fortunate than ourselves i think £10 per ticket so more people can join in and no limit on the number of tickets as its to raise money for charity. The charity the money will go to is donalwalshlivelife.org it was set up in 2013 by the father of Donal Walsh a young co. Kerry lad you sadly lost his fight with cancer at the age of 16. The first time cancer struck was when he was just 12 and he fought and beat it twice however when it returned for a third time the doctors could do no more. Donal was a heroic and inspirational young man who until his final days reached out to try and prevent young teenagers from taking their life through suicide, he reduced the number of suicides dramatically, his voice was a powerful one as living life was a choice taken away from him, just a few weeks before he died he was on national tv still reaching out to help others who still had the choice to live life. The charity was set up after Donal passed by his father Fionnbar to carry on donals legacy, i hope everyone agrees with my choice. Now all i need now is the Banksy! Thanks everyone for the kind words
Great charity, great idea. Kudos to this entire board who never ceases to amaze me. I'm saving money for tickets now

BANKSY for £1000, by Deleted on Aug 4, 2014 12:41:25 GMT 1, Also, contesting is something we do a ton of, working in advertising. There are sites and software that you can enter all the names in and it'll spit out a random for you. So if the charity gives you a list of donors in an excel file, and if the donation form makes you enter your user name it would be easy to plug into a generator and get a completely random result.

BANKSY for £1000, by Deleted on Aug 4, 2014 13:08:29 GMT 1, Jesus Christs this is getting complicated now, Andy, just do what you reckon is best fella. It is indeed but im going to try and keep it simple, i think most people would like it to go to a good home where it will be enjoyed whether its someone who can afford a banksy or not rather than flipped for a big profit, i hope those buying will do so with good intentions, johnny has taken a big loss considering what hes offering it for and it would be a shame for him to sacrifice it for that to happen, ive no real control of the outcome but this way everyone has a chance to support a very worthwhile charity and someone lucky will get a great piece of art to do with what they choose.

BANKSY for £1000, by joecool91 on Aug 4, 2014 13:11:48 GMT 1, I think that there should be a cap on it to like no joiners past June or whatever otherwise people will just create multiple accounts and the 5 tickets per person will be pointless!
Understand the temptation to make the tickets unlimited but then the people who wouldn't normally be able afford a banksy would lose out anyway! 5 limit per person. Simples

Actually you have a ton of control!
example: Entering the contest binds you to not sell the prize for a determined period of time. (1 year, 2 years, whatever) click to agree.
Its a simple contest but you'll definitely need to have some rules, some legal micetype, etc. I would think not flipping the prize is a great rule.

Look at all the variables suggested in this thread re tickets / price of tickets / allocation etc. whilst remembering the initial nice idea, that to me is complicated. Im sure Andy will sort it though, infact it more or less is now isnt it?.

I am listening to everyone but id ask anyone entering to do so with the community spirit in mind. £10/ticket 5/person Maybe min posts of 100 or something Maybe no entries or members joining after 1/08/14 If you flip it for personal gain i send sweetcorn to track you down and make a canoe out of your skin(91% psychotic)
