Was just about to say the same!
BTW if you give me one for the price of shipping I could stick it outside my house and Invader could officialy have reached Ireland

Your name is not Ricardo is it? Had someone contact me through eBay last year with similar story trying to sell me stolen pieces from Paris, swiss and Amsterdam and throwing in and invaded book of Bilbao. I played along to get pictures then reported it to orbi along with the pics. So interested in seeing these your friend has.

Space Invaders removed from the Street, by Deleted on Oct 9, 2014 14:46:42 GMT 1, Hi everyone, This is my first post in this forum and I really hope not the last. I am very new to this world. I got into it by accident, but the more I learn, the more I realize what are the Do's and Don'ts and I am afraid I have made a couple of big Don'ts! I need some guidance and advice. Basically, the story is this: A Couple of years ago, a friend of mine was in some financial trouble and didn't want help. He just wanted to sell some of his stuff. I have seen these "invaders" on his wall, and we agreed on a price. These "invaders" are actually original ones that he had removed from their original location and re-assembled and framed. He has provided me with pictures of the pieces in their original location, along with picture of them being removed and finally, their picture as being put back together to be framed. In hindsight, I understand how disgusting this is, and how much it goes against the artist's original intension, but what can I do. I'd like some advise on what to do with these as I am not even sure I should keep them on my wall, although - I have to say - I really like them. I have 6 of them from France, Spain, Switerland and Ireland. Thanks, O. 'Your friend' gets around a bit doesn't he.

Space Invaders removed from the Street, by bullysonzx10r on Oct 9, 2014 16:20:15 GMT 1, Unpopular opinion time...
They're worth a lot if you can prove that they're real. Proving they are real is the hard part as Invader and Orbi will not authenticate anything taken from the street.
However, If I had the opportunity to buy a real Invader that was on the street at one point, I'd probably throw a few thousand dollars at it, and I'm a cheap bastard.
You should just keep them and enjoy them.
Taking street art from the street isn't a good thing to do, but I can't lie and say that I wouldn't grab an Invader if I knew I could cleanly get it off a wall. Yeah... I'm an asshole.

bullysonzx10r, whilst I - in a rather bizarre way - admire your bravery for making the above comments on here, I find them a little disturbing. I find the notion of a forum member admitting that he would steal an Invader, or anything for that matter quite sad.

I'm not saying that I'm out there roaming the streets trying to take down artwork, but I also haven't been faced with the immediate availability of a portable piece. Except one time when I was standing with my buddy and the artist who had put it on the street for the intent of it getting picked up ASAP.

The line is drawn at stealing somebody else's work. Surely that line is undisputedly clear, there is no grey area. Would I steal a Bansky, no. Your point about "if I take anything, than you're just as bad", is absolutely true. But I wouldn't take anything.
I'm glad to know you aren't roaming the street looking for art to steal! Don't steal. End of.

Space Invaders removed from the Street, by opsami77 on Oct 10, 2014 11:35:12 GMT 1, Wow, quite a lot of comments here. I am overwhelmed. I am not sure what some of you meant when referring to my "friend", but one of you had mentioned Ricardo and I called up my friend to find out what's going on. The story is the following, and please take this as an update. My friend - Michael is the name - was interested in getting an invader and bought one from ebay. It turns out that a couple of months later, the ebay seller contacted him again and offered him other invaders. This guy is Ricardo. Both Michael and I live in Dubai, and it doesn't make any sense for either of us to travel around Europe and do all of this. Another thing, I only started getting into Street Art a couple of years ago, and - thanks to this forum - I have educated myself a little bit. Yes, it is wrong that someone had those removed. Yes it is wrong that this someone has done that for money. But, as far as I am concerned, I bought them from my friend Michael to get him out of a jam, and I am glad I did. Now they hang in my wall. Destroying them is not an option, as I think it's just silly. Selling them is not an option either, I don't need the money they could bring up and there is now way to get them authenticated anyway. Thanks anyway for the feedback O.

Space Invaders removed from the Street, by Wearology on Oct 10, 2014 11:55:34 GMT 1, I was confronted with this scenario before and it is amazing all the thoughts that go through your head. When Banksy did his 1st street piece of his NY show last October I had an opportunity to steal the street sign where the 2 boys were standing on each others back. It was the beginning of Banksy's residency in NY and there was a small crowd when it was day light but I was there as it turned to night and it was just me and another forum member. I had 2 thoughts going through my head - 1. Am I the guy that is going to steal a Banksy and know I can 100% get away with it without anyone seeing me or 2. Am I the guy who is supposed to protect the Banksy from the guy who is trying to steal it. My conclusion was that I was the guy who should NOT steal a street piece and than I read on the forum it was stolen about 10 minutes after I left and has been on a tour like Where's Waldo ever since last October.

I'm a little confused by this...your original post stated that you were looking for some advice about what to do with the pieces. It turns out that after quite a lot of advice, you have decided that you like them and that they should stay on your wall.
I find that a bit odd.. I'm sure that is a conclusion you could have reached on your own.

Space Invaders removed from the Street, by khog on Oct 15, 2014 2:20:08 GMT 1, Yes, stealing is wrong but I don't fully understand how stealing urban art/graffiti is wrong. Unless commissioned it was illegally posted. In a way isn't he providing a service to the city/town. Not that I condone stealing art, keep it where it is. Also a lot of urban art is contextual, such as Banksy's. Once it's removed it loses some of not all of its meaning.

Space Invaders removed from the Street, by khog on Oct 15, 2014 4:48:47 GMT 1, I'm wasn't that I agree with the removal of art, I don't, keep Invader, Banksy, Fairey's work where it is. I enjoy it. What I'm saying is unless commissioned by the owner of the property, graffiti is illegal, is it not? Let's face it, the majority of people probably dislike graffiti/street art and would prefer it not be there. Cities pay public workers to buff spray paint, this dude is doing it sans pay, saving said city the salary of paying someone to buff it. That's all I'm saying.
