Bambi ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by Rouen Cathedral on Feb 20, 2017 19:14:46 GMT 1, I don't care that much. Just having an interesting discussion. You gotta have an agenda because you start these threads every so often and you tend to get the same response. Banksy was pretty much the reason for this forum and we all love him cause he's the best!
My agenda is to talk art. Thats what's so great about art.

Bambi ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by frankiefrench on Feb 20, 2017 19:16:58 GMT 1, Well there will always be those who blazed the trail first and there will always be a steady line up of wannabes. Almost all so called street art is Banksy centric i.e. - bad tracings of photocopied pictures with some weak twist or punchline. Its getting very old and played out. I'm not talking about anyone in particular just the thousands of copy cats polluting our walls.

This is sad. Especially as that's how banksy started out. And then became something greater. How can we hope for more if no one starts. There's a reason many greats start with attempting to copy the previous.

You could say Banksy started by copying Blek... But then he took it off in other directions.

Exactly. This applies to all arts. A crucial way to become better is to immitate the greats that came before you.

Bambi ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by tonys on Feb 21, 2017 17:59:23 GMT 1, I'll be the first to criticise previous work by Bambi, but this is the first I will say is good. On topic, well executed (Trump could have been fatter obv), but that said, the Conway & Spicer dancing cartoon in the press pre-dated this and was more en point.

ok I just don't understand why we are comparing Bambi's current work with early banksy works ?
Have you seen the last 5-10 street pieces he has done ? its a bit different to a one layer stencil.
which ones? Can you post some photos.

Bambi ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Feb 22, 2017 17:14:07 GMT 1, Bleks beggar and Meeks I want change are for me the best examples of simple stencil graffiti that makes people think and also Bleks beggar surpasses anything done by Banksy.
Interesting that on lots of online blogs etc, Meeks beggar is often attributed to Banksy.
Bambi makes simple basic stencils and I don't know if Bambi is really some St martisn art school graduate taking the piss out of Banksy by stencilling Mo farah and David Beckham on walls i some form of parody or is actually serious about making art which has a dig at social issues or just making graffiti based on whatever social issue is mainstream news this week and tagging their name or moniker to it.
Whats wrong with posting bambi art on here and discussing it. It seems that the thread turns into about Banksy often due to unknown reasons by some people.
Whether Murrke is anything to do with Bambi or not does not matter. I see no hypocrisy considering other artists like Stik and banksy and Whatson etc have their people posting on this forum promoting them. So do galleries have their people posting on here regarding what ever artists work they are selling.
About Bambi's stencil efforts and whether the art is good or bad or a copy or unoriginal. It makes no difference, it's all about column inches in the media and news papers. Of course it's always best to tagg on a socialist lefty message even if the message is untrue. People won't question it because they would be afraid of being attacked as being a nazi by people who when faced with facts resort to insults.
So if Bambi is getting media attention and prices rise. One things for certain, the same people who are slagging off bambi now wil be buying in the future. and thats what todays street art scene has become.
Blek created it and Blek will kill it off.

I did not make this Bambi thread into a Banksy thread. I contributed to the discussion and posted about Blek and Meek in regard to the people who say all other stencil art on walls is not as good as the great Bankable Banksy.
I have posted about banksy on Banksy threads about Banksy where an opinion is invited.
As far as I know this is a forum and some people need to either learn to debate without hurling insults or just grow up.

Bleks beggar and Meeks I want change are for me the best examples of simple stencil graffiti that makes people think and also Bleks beggar surpasses anything done by Banksy. Anything? Interesting that on lots of online blogs etc, Meeks beggar is often attributed to Banksy. Search on Twitter or instagram for Banksy works. It's interesting just how much he's apparently responsible for. I believe they are serious at making a living out of art. Whats wrong with posting bambi art on here and discussing it. It seems that the thread turns into about Banksy often due to unknown reasons by some people. Banksy was literally mentioned in the first post on here, by the creator of this thread about Bambi. Whether Murrke is anything to do with Bambi or not does not matter. I see no hypocrisy considering other artists like Stik and banksy and Whatson etc have their people posting on this forum promoting them. So do galleries have their people posting on here regarding what ever artists work they are selling. If people are honest about it, I could not give two hoots. I want more artists and their agents of darkness on here. I prefer if they engage with the art anoraks. Just popping up to falsely promote something or be provocative just for the sake of it is another matter. There's constructive or useful discussion, but there's also just trying to get a rise out of people because it gets your endorphins hard. Did someone call you a Nazi? I agree that Bambi (early Bambi) sought empty column inches and articles, but I wouldn't say that a lot of his work has a social message. So if Bambi is getting media attention and prices rise. One things for certain, the same people who are slagging off bambi now wil be buying in the future. I don't think you can speak in absolutes. It's disrespectful to say that anyone slagging off Bambi will then go on to buy their work in the future. You can't say that's a certainty. That's a very cynical opinion of the people on here. It's like saying all Brexit voters are screaming racists. It's untrue and unhelpful to make sweeping statements like that, as many people will take offence and then the opportunity for meaningful discussion becomes more difficult. and that's what todays street art scene has become. Depends on how you look at it. Money goes wherever money can be made. But there's still integrity and worthwhile work out there. I guess I'm a spraycan half full kind of person. Blek created it and Blek will kill it off. How the hell is he going to do that? Kill all the artists? Create a virus that causes uncontrollable shakes, making stencil cutting near impossible? Make art so bad that it actually puts people off all street art for the rest of time? That's like a tagline from a cheap 80s sci-fi movie. "BLEK CREATED IT AND BLEK WILL KILL IT OFF!" You're just saying stuff.

Yeah. It would be awesome as an art fan to know someone like her. You don't think so? Sorry I'm not like you and not in with the big artists or something. I was just curious what excited you about knowing an artist whose work you admire. Nothing sinister.
Just the kind of innocent question I would ask if we were both sat in the pub, and I was sitting a couple of tables over and I heard your comment about it being amazing to know a certain artist.
And I'm sorry, but the biggest artist that I know is myself.
And I can't stand me.

Bambi ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Feb 23, 2017 11:26:47 GMT 1, To say that Bleks beggar is better than anything that Banksy has done is egregious on so many levels. That is the same as saying ALL of Banksys work is better than all other artists ever. Even Banksy wouldn't say that. He seems self critical, this is proven by him redoing his walls as stated earlier in thread. Blek is great especially some of the earlier work, but how many times are we going to see this recycled image? Cool piece for sure but best stencil work ever, hardly.... I agree about Banksy being self critical.
I see a lot of his stuff as stating the obvious too. Like the Laugh Now monkey chimp, with the slogan that people have said often and ever since the first Planet of the Apes movie and Darwins theory of evolution. Slave Labour about cheap sweat shop products sold in high street shops including Top Shop whose shady owner paid Kate Moss loads. The Christ with shopping bags is evry clever and a visual version of people saying that xmas celebrates religion with consumerism. Banksy has made a lot of good punny and amusing art on walls. I still prefer Bleks beggar for it's visual impact and location. It has no witty slogan written by a paid comedian either. With Banksy sometimes I think he tries too hard and I don't know if he uses a team who come up with the ideas for the visuals and slogans or comes up with everything entirely by himself. The Steve Jobs artwork to me looks like the result of an ad agency saying lets use Steve Jobs to promote globalism. Everyone has an iphone and knows who Jobs is and they are too stupid to realise that Jobs was not a migrant and that his father was not a refugee and not a migrant in todays version of the word "migrant" Rather a very wealthy person who mixed with diplomats and stayed in hotels on his business trips to teh US. Who got an American woman pregnant and abandoned her and the baby and who also was a gambler who alledgedly stole a group of students money and left them with no means to get home on a trip to Egypt and gambled their money away in a casino. and Jobs wa sknown to be an aeshole at times too who never gave to charity, conned Wozniak out of his Atari bonus and did not support his own daughter, used factories in China to produce apple products to gain most profit where a number of workers comitted suicide and also was one of the biggest investors in Disney. So much for Dismaland and so much for Banksy's political messages via his art. Shallow and catering to people who think inside his fragile box
To say that Bleks beggar is better than anything that Banksy has done is egregious on so many levels. Bambi ๐ฌ๐ง Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Feb 23, 2017 11:31:08 GMT 1, Yeah.
("That makes two of us") someone on here says...
I'm sure you know the big players in the art world. You have the power..

Blek's influence on Banksy was already mentioned (by me). And other stencils being confused with Banksy... There's tons of them, and most of them not good at all! I'm not sure what the point is. What is good and what is bad? We talk a lot about art being subjective, but sometimes we have to admit that some art is just bad! Maybe it's PC to say it's all good in someone's eyes, and be encouraging to everyone so we don't hurt their feelings... but I'm not sure that's right.

Shallow and catering to people who think inside his fragile box While that may all be true about Jobs and his father, the simple fact that his father was Syrian is the point Banksy was making. That he's now a symbol of success, while we're told Syrians are a problem for our economy. I agree about Blek's beggar... but it's really his best work and the rest feels less meaningful and hasn't evolved.
