Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by tab1 on May 3, 2021 17:15:35 GMT 1, Surprised laz had not set up a pest control type authorization for these, seeing as these have and continue to rise in value. Also as he is the majority stakeholder distributing these would be in his interest to rid the market of fakes

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by artfan2021 on May 3, 2021 17:17:30 GMT 1, So just to clarify, please don't just keep saying "It's fake", "Get over it", "Move on" etc. Tell me why it is fake, specifically from the images. And please don't say "Because your images are wrong". I want to know what it is you are looking for. I don't care if it 'is' fake but I need you to tell me why.

You have already been provided with an example, and this thread is full of excellent information. If you want more detailed analysis of your tenner I suggest you post much better photos.
I think the quality of your photo has limited the detail in people’s responses. I can see the correct pattern but they don’t look as sharp or crisp as I would expect for a legit note, like others have already suggested. Maybe supply better photos, and also search the forum, (search bar top right) as there are various other threads that also provide very good detailed information on what you are looking for.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by artfan2021 on May 3, 2021 18:36:46 GMT 1, Thanks innefficiency. My scanner gave a worse pic than my camera, even at max dpi! Not sure why. I can see the clear 'smiley face' circles across your image. I have those, but not as clear in mine, hence why it's fake. I was confused because from many posts I had learned that you can't copy and print a fake di-faced tenner, hence the really blurry ones lacking in any detail currently for sale every day on Ebay. Maybe my fake is at the cutting edge of the fakery spectrum?!?!

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by moron on May 7, 2021 13:09:25 GMT 1, Regarding paying good money for Di Faced Tenner's. All this Banksy memorabilia can be easily reproduced as good as the originals. Anyone that gets hold of a Di Faced Tenner for reference and who has access to the right person/s in the print game can source the correct paper and reproduce these tenners exactly. The advice that a close up image proves a tenner is authentic is BS. That's just down to how good quality the litho printing is. Any clown can make up a story that they got a tenner from someone who knows Banksy etc etc and demand a high price. reality is, that, that provenance cannot be proven and I doubt the seller can prove what they say too. If someone is spending more than a few quid on one of these, then considering that the secondary market collectors who want an investment need solid provenance. Buying from people like Laz makes sense. You can pay half of what Laz is selling them for if you believe the back story that sellers give and enlarged images showing close up's of the printing process mean nothing in this day and age when everything can be reproduced easily using the same technology. You can buy moody Di faced Tenner's for a few quid that look right and don't care if they were printed by Banksy and co or you can buy ones with solid verifiable provenance from people like Laz and know that your investment is solid. Buying in between from people with big images and some back story is fine untill you want to sell the tenner. Considering you only have the sellers word you bought it from that the tenner came from Banksy.
Buyer beware said Caveat Emptor

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by MGK1 on May 10, 2021 11:12:01 GMT 1, I have a few of these for sale...gotta do up the bathroom!
They came from Steve Lazarides during the time I worked for Lazarides Gallery.
They don't come with a COA (the price reflects this I think) but I will provide proof of my employment at Lazarides and a letter documenting the provenance.
I also have plenty of references who can also confirm that these are the real deal.
London based - happy for these to be compared to those on a COA if anyone wants to do an in-person deal.
Happy to also send hi-res images that show the CMYK dots to any interested parties.
Can also ship no problem.
£1000 each.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by peas on May 10, 2021 21:00:13 GMT 1, One can never be 100% certain without seeing it in the flesh, but I'd say that's almost certainly the best fake I've seen.
Can you post photos of the back?

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by met on May 10, 2021 21:07:36 GMT 1, These are the best pics I can get of this tenner. Can someone come back again and let me know if they think it's a fake, so I can get back to the gallery if needed? Thanks.
After reading your 11 posts, all of them on the same subject, the impression I was left with is that artfan2021 is a duplicate or burner account.
Would this be correct?
If not, then apologies for my mistake.
But if so, I'd be curious to learn more about your motivation.
[With the vast majority of cases I've come across of members who use more than one forum account, it is for the purpose of deceiving — and often due to cowardice on their part. These are not attractive qualities, which is why I make efforts to discourage others from pursuing that path. Sticking to a single account may have some disadvantages (especially when reselling), but it's also the stronger indicator of good faith. And integrity, of course.]
__________
As for the tenner, unless the issue is with your camera, it looks to me like a credible fake — but a fake nonetheless.
From what I can tell, your tenner may be an inkjet, when it should be an offset lithograph. It lacks the clarity I'd expect to see within the rosette patterns — including the individual CMYK dots in cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by hnkpnk on May 11, 2021 11:00:21 GMT 1, Here is a comparison between your hi-res pix and my tenner from a COA. My pic is taken with an iPhone through a loupe. And as you can see a real one should have distinctive CMYK colour dots, which yours doesn't have.
It's the right eye of Diana (her left).

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by hnkpnk on May 11, 2021 11:30:03 GMT 1, This colour pattern is also the reason why it's technically impossible to create exact fakes. Even with the original source picture you would have a hard time getting the dots on the exact position as the originals. You would have to have the exact same software and machines for all stages of the production and even then I don't think it would be possible.
For the naked eye the result of fakes can be very close to originals, but never exact when you look at them really closely.
Edit: Due to the tenners being printed in sheets they won't have the dots in the exact same position. As there were ten tenners per sheet, there should be ten different patterns.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by Lroy on May 11, 2021 11:42:43 GMT 1, If you don't mind, I posted it here but nobody answered me. I was young - I mean it was just after Exit, in 2011, I dreamed of a tenner, and I bought this one from a guy - that maybe made the bids going high with mates ( in the total, I paid 560 £ ouch ! - that is still my friend on facebook ( K. Fish... do you know him ? ) ... Anyway, I posted - little game - a good one and not a good one ( mine obviously ) ... Could you answer which one is good , by 1 or 2 etc etc...
Can I ask a refund for a thing that happened years ago to a simple man ?
Last question : where they all from the same batches, and printed in only one and unic time ?
It's sad anyway all this, que fait la police ? ( It seems that on ebay or galeries have never problems, but I can call it a Robbery ! ) ... They shoudl be under arrest, even a single mate.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by hnkpnk on May 11, 2021 14:28:20 GMT 1, I suggest that anyone that wants to authenticate their tenner compare with my pic. If the coloured dots look and are placed exactly the same it's genuine. Otherwise not.
It's impossible for the forum to say if anyones tenner is fake if their pic isn't hi-res enough. In this way it's up to anyone to make sure they have a good enough magnification and they can make the decision themselves.
I just realized that this won't work as the originals were printed in sheets and then cut up. So they won't have the same pattern if they are not from the same place of the sheet. Still I believe it's the best way of authenticating so far. The pattern should be very similar to my pic.
I've put the hi-res version of my pic on the link below. It's a close-up of the right eye of Diana (her left).
Copy and paste: hankpank.net/banksy/misc/di-right-eye-colour-pattern.jpg

Very nicely done.
With respect to any requests for advice on authenticity going forward, I believe your posts have given holders of purported Di-Faced Tenners all the information they need.
The onus is now on each holder to take responsibility for themselves. This would include:
(i) ensuring, for comparison purposes, that they get suitable images of their notes, i.e. sufficiently hi-res to allow for the individual CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) dots to be clearly visible; and
(ii) making their own judgement call about the likely genuine or counterfeit nature of those notes.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by Lroy on May 11, 2021 16:49:48 GMT 1, Thank you met too. Is the english law allows me to ask a refund to this seller ? I don't tink so... May I have to knock at his door with some Bristol mates ?
This is dramatic these fakes and " faussaires " : their first victims are always naïve people, young couples, enthusiastics ones, etc, etc... wanted to have a " Banksy " ( the tenner is, was, a great symbol for me then, as a treasure ), the " man who " ...
I really can't understand why ebay - and all these Dismaland per example fakes still at the moment - does not warn young ( or not ) people, about these fakes - then close their account with mention to the police. Art is sometimes a dirty place, and nobody cleans it. I will stop that, soon.
