Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by skanky on Feb 5, 2008 23:51:18 GMT 1, Just back that was mad, the room was packed ! Couldnt really predict what was going to happen with price , you got a real sense that that all the stuff was not being being bought by us lot. Was shocked at the prices the Neate street pieces and the pizza box went for. As for Nick Walker flippin hell !!

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by skanky on Feb 5, 2008 23:53:27 GMT 1, 4. Banksy - for being the talent that he is, and for capturing the audiences imagination. When his Laugh Now sold at ยฃ190K, the atmosphere in the auction was electric. There were only two bidders on that once it went past 120k odd... one was the woman that won it... and the other was................. Ian Brown from the Stone Roses! I think he was genuinely disappointed he missed out on it, though he was waving his number card about like he was playing with monopoly money. I really wanted him to win it just so the papers could add his name to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who they feel compelled to mention in every Banksy article.
Shit cant believe I missed him gutted he didnt get it Fookin Legend !

Yeah fatherxmas - Lot 10, the 7meter wide Laugh Nows.
Not dissing it at all Alsbabar - it was a great night. I was just overwhelmed by what seemed like flippant decisions being made right before me on something that costs more then a modest house.

ยฃ6.5K for an unsigned - that has got to hurt

It was a strange lot...

Aye, probably a bloke then, I thought I heard the auctioneer referred to the winner as a her, but it was so packed in there at that point you couldn't see across the room.

Does anyone know of much Japenese or middle eastern interest in the market?

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by kilner on Feb 6, 2008 0:25:15 GMT 1, I have to admit myself... suprised. I'm an american, and following the goings-on with interest as I own quite a few american graffiti pieces. As a few of those happen to be Dave Choe's, I've been reading this board for the past few months (for obvious reasons).
I really thought with the last few weeks of financial news that the Bonhams would be a bust... but I was clearly wrong.
What is very obvious is that we Americans are hurting (Christies), the Russians are doing well (Sotheby's), and that Bonham's will definitely be pulling another one of these auctions soon. I'm going to call a young lady in their San Francisco office now....
