Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by mammal2 on Feb 6, 2008 0:36:53 GMT 1, Just got back. Twas a fun night. The Kate for 92k was stupid. Never saw Ian Brown, gutted. The monkey bidding on a few monkeys. Anyone still want my WSM unsigned for 1.5k? I really hope this does not fuck up the prices. So much I want! Mahhh!

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Curley on Feb 6, 2008 0:41:45 GMT 1, a truly great evening out, just back from Bonhams and the first time i have ever been to an auction. Lots of people from both forums there, good to see everyone, too many to name.... ;D
it was exciting to say the least. Highlights for me were the monkeys at 190K, kate Moss 80k, nick walker moona Lisa which drew gasps and a round of applause at 45K and again nicks print TMA of london went crazy. the odd bidding wars in the room were funny as well, the guy in front of me with his girlfriend were determind too have the lenticular and they did at 4.8K. i liked the ferrari racing cap on his knee ;D
Thought the Neate original was a bargain when you compared it to the street piece. However i did think it looked like a man having a wank in a Neate stylee
Loved the telephone bidding as they had so much money they didnt even need to turn up.
Lots of people i think who had no idea of the value of prints but with serious wedge to spent. basically these people do not look nor care about e bay. example UNSIGNED ghetto rat at 6.5k (at which point i could see forum members all just shaking there heads in amazement).
saw ian brown but did not see mammal...... where were you we missed you ?
great night out for nish... ;D

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by fallenangel on Feb 6, 2008 0:44:26 GMT 1, WOW!
OMG!
The the extortionate prices that were reached tonight are shocking. Brilliant for Nick.
Wonder what you all thought about the Micallef prices. Wonder if the whole summer / Laz / LA show / Uni / peacekeeps / GIWTBB, etc hoo ha...you know, we were all there .... affected his prices? They didn't inflate as much as others. Were you suprised / unsuprised by this?

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Rude Copper on Feb 6, 2008 0:52:50 GMT 1, rtl, bonuses were paid out in novemberdecember in teh city so i tend to agree to the " i have a banksy etc etc attitude"
nearly, bonus'es were paid out on 31st jan-bonhams auction 5th feb, coincidence? the neate piece was the worst elms piece i've ever seen, & was no surprise it went low, invader 14k? kate 80k? nick walker 45k? bme unsigned 11.5k? seriously, you had to be there, a landmark in the tale that is urban art. i was standing next to ian brown, out of his head, could'nt stop raising his card, even when he was the last bidder, then 190 came & the pooper went, if only fools gold had sold a million copies............ nice to see so many faces out tonight, makes you realise was a great scene this can be.

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Curley on Feb 6, 2008 1:21:31 GMT 1, curley ... does that mean each artist gets 4% of the loot?
the auctioneer explained it right at the beginning that 4% of sales over certain amount (think it was 1000 euros) would go to the artist. its called artist resale rights.
these artist were noted with AR next to their names in the catalogue.

Even Lot 53 escaped me Disapointed at the price the neates wanker piece compared to his street pieces Anyone want my unsigned gansta rat ? :-)
The neate 'wanker' piece was not one of the strongest he's done by along way and because of the subject matter it limits it's audience. But one thing is for sure, it's was a damn expensive Wanker!

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by darjeeling on Feb 6, 2008 5:36:30 GMT 1, Street Art, the last 'safe haven' in troubled economic times. Who would have thunk it! Ironically this cutting edge youth oriented sttreet art is also perfect for widows and orphans as it's apparently just impervious to economic troubles. Put your money in Banksy, some nice safe dividend plays and a few Gold miners.
