Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Deleted on Jan 29, 2015 17:37:25 GMT 1, I'm curious as to what will happen to the prices of Banksy prints that weren't in the sale yesterday. Will the high prices in the auction have a knock-on effect across all his prints? I'm guessing only time will tell. nah, CND will pass GWRB in no time

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by bob60 on Jan 29, 2015 18:15:26 GMT 1, But these weren't Laz's prints right? I thought they came from a collector he gave them to years ago? They were from Laz's personal colletion.......i.e a few he wanted to offload randomly to ready himself for a more important and money making sell off with rarer prints.....maybe Not all of them were Laz's because one of them belonged to a mate of mine, and he has never even met him so there is no connection there.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by pollz66 on Feb 4, 2015 18:47:00 GMT 1, Banksy aside, one result that is very telling at Bonhams is Matt Collishaw. At a time where the YBAs are nostalgically back on the map, Collishaw sees to have slipped off it all together. He showed at Freeze back in the day and has never managed to scale the heights of his contemporaries. I guess what Bonhams showed is that the auction is about the art and artists of the here and now. It's exciting times. As an auction house, I like what they are doing very much. They feel tapped in.

Does anybody know? I do not think that was an astonishing result for him. He sells for that amount (more or less) in the primary market. His larger canvases at the last show were 65k. If I remember correctly there was an interview in which he mentioned that he was happy about the visibility provided by the auction, but the price was close to what he can sell them for by himself.

There was no original price; the work was consigned by the artist, either directly or via his gallerist.
See the auction lot details which include the provenance information, "Collection of the Artist, London".

I was just wondering how huge the turnover of a painting done not so long ago would be - seeing how much hype he generated over the last few years and how crazy the prices in the artworld can be .
