Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by andyroo0312 on Jan 31, 2015 3:09:27 GMT 1, In the scope of things i think that CH was a bargain. I will go out on a limb and say i can feel it in my water that CH,s work will get stronger and stronger and will be a name we are still hearing and talking about 10yrs from now. Hey did any one notice those crazy Banksy prices from the other day?

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by pollz66 on Feb 4, 2015 18:47:00 GMT 1, Banksy aside, one result that is very telling at Bonhams is Matt Collishaw. At a time where the YBAs are nostalgically back on the map, Collishaw sees to have slipped off it all together. He showed at Freeze back in the day and has never managed to scale the heights of his contemporaries. I guess what Bonhams showed is that the auction is about the art and artists of the here and now. It's exciting times. As an auction house, I like what they are doing very much. They feel tapped in.

Does anybody know? I do not think that was an astonishing result for him. He sells for that amount (more or less) in the primary market. His larger canvases at the last show were 65k. If I remember correctly there was an interview in which he mentioned that he was happy about the visibility provided by the auction, but the price was close to what he can sell them for by himself.

There was no original price; the work was consigned by the artist, either directly or via his gallerist.
See the auction lot details which include the provenance information, "Collection of the Artist, London".

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by NN on Feb 12, 2015 11:53:09 GMT 1, Thanks met & dueuomo for the clarification, I didn't knew that. I was just wondering how huge the turnover of a painting done not so long ago would be - seeing how much hype he generated over the last few years and how crazy the prices in the artworld can be .

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Poster Bob on Feb 23, 2015 17:58:59 GMT 1, I'm surprised that there are only two Banksy prints in this auction. I thought that the recent results from Lazarides' sale would have coaxed out more prints from portfolios.

check the next sale and you'll see a tsunami of prints!

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Winter on Feb 23, 2015 18:11:46 GMT 1, Given the current Banksy print market, most collectors I know are far more keen to add to their collections than to sell.

I thought most would be selling, but then read that the Laz auction was just his backlot or something (i.e. wanted to cash in on some stuff, but still has an absolute ton of prints/originals) so thinking you're right.

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by Matt on Feb 24, 2015 12:32:53 GMT 1, Holly Cow, i have been looking for the DFace A-Hole hand sprayed in indigo / blue for ages (I have the orange and the pink). I never got confirmation that it existed and here it is...
Now that I see it, it looks crap. The spraying is supposed to be D-dogs but here it just looks random camouflage...
The estimate seems crazy, D-Face market not strong at the moment IMO. Will be interesting to see what it fetches.

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by sommguy on Mar 2, 2015 20:32:55 GMT 1, That ladt bonhams sale was test of the print market. The market showed it was a lot stronger than they thought. And they thought or knew it was already strong. But the results were greater than anticipated. Wonder why there was only 1AP? And cross section of prints from applause to laugh now....
Wide selection of highly desireable images down to some prints hardly anybody wants. Smart idea to gauge the market and get s little more awareness for his work.

Bonhams โข Art Auctions โข London ๐ฌ๐ง, by trees on Mar 3, 2015 5:47:09 GMT 1, Thanks to the OP for posting this. May take a stab at some of those pieces. Anyone ever take part in one of these auctions? I will try to do the live bidding, but seems like it may take a while to get to the pieces I want. Was wondering if anyone had any good advice in getting the best chance at scoring. Thanks in advance.

To be honest if you bid live, you might get caught up in the shuffle and end up over paying. Best bet would be to document the lot numbers that you are interested in and the max hammer price taking into account the extra fees...this way if you are live bidding you can take control of the urge by referencing your playbook :-)

I actually submit an absentee bid form with my max price (factoring in the buyer premium (25% on hammer typically), artistic resale (3%-7%, if any), taxes (depending on location), and shipping (this can be a big number >ยฃ500 for a small/medium framed piece for bespoke crating). I still end up watching the live bidding, but my die has been cast and whatever happens, happens. I don't let my emotions get caught up in the excitement of the bidding process and overpay for something.
