Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Oski on Mar 4, 2015 19:23:09 GMT 1, I would have been very unhappy with pretty much every result on the urban stuff if I was a seller. They were practically giving the failes away. I think only 2 of the Failes sold. Burning Bright and Falling for Faile. Both for Β£1000... pretty good for the buyer, but not outstanding... crap for the seller though! Especially since the seller has to pay:
Seller's Commissions (~15%) = Β£150 Loss/Damage Warranty Fee (1.5%) = Β£15
So the seller of the Faile for Β£1,000 nets Β£835, not including any cost of transporting the piece to the auction house.
For the ones that did not sell, the seller still has to pay: Unsold Charge = depends, but is nominal for the cost of photographing, cataloging, marketing Loss/Damage Warranty Fee (1.5% of average high/low est.)
So the unsold has the salt in the wound of transport costs, unsold charge, and warranty fee.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Matt on Mar 4, 2015 20:29:48 GMT 1, Site seems to say both Banksys "sold for 8750 inc. premium" or am I reading it wrong ?
Was quite obvious the DFace would not sell at that price.

To be clear, each was Β£8,750 and not price for the pair.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Poster Bob on Mar 5, 2015 8:23:57 GMT 1, I don't think they're particularly good prices but I assume that they reflect the current market. That is, the idea that your prints are worth the same as Lazarides' fluke auction is laughable.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Winter on Mar 5, 2015 18:03:21 GMT 1, The Banksy 'Have a Nice Day' was dedicated '4 Jack' which is never ideal unless your name is Jack. It would definitely affect the price.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Winter on Mar 5, 2015 22:16:18 GMT 1, For me personally as a collector the dedication would put me off even on an AP. If it was an alternative colourway or in some way different that would give me a dilemma!

Even if it was my own name, it still wouldn't feel quite right.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Poster Bob on Mar 26, 2015 7:47:53 GMT 1, Yes, I would assume that signed only prints are signed. They do consistently give very low estimates; either because they're out of touch with the market or they think it increases the competition for the work. I think it's the latter.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by jusdeep on Mar 26, 2015 9:36:25 GMT 1, All are obviously 'come and buy me' estimates. I would put money on all of them going for vastly more, especially the Nola and probably the VLH will go for a good price as there hasn't been one at auction for a while.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by chester on Mar 26, 2015 11:07:39 GMT 1, Estimates are always set by the auction houses at a conservative level to entice bidding hence the good price on the VLH! Look at the Laz sale they nearly all flew and made record prices for auction. If you start at a high estimate it puts people off.....

It would be naive to think he doesn't have a large inventory stored away.
It's all business in the end

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Winter on Mar 27, 2015 10:19:23 GMT 1, They just do it to get bidders in and then to promote the fact that certain pieces doubled estimate etc. Putting items onto ebay at 99p start has the same effect. Pieces usually find their price in the end.

Just wondered what people's thoughts were on values of DN pieces (ie.how much less if any) and does this mean the other print of the same number also has this written on it, or will have if it gets a name change on coa. Cheers.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Dice on Jun 2, 2015 14:42:55 GMT 1, Just wondered what people's thoughts were on values of DN pieces (ie.how much less if any) and does this mean the other print of the same number also has this written on it, or will have if it gets a name change on coa. Cheers. Strangely - it totally puts me off - 'duplicate' and 'OCD' don't usually gel very well in my mind. It also seems a bit clumsy. So for me, I would pay a premium not to have a duplicate number if that makes any sense. However - it is what it is, and I guess a story in itself - about where this artist's commercial roots originated. I don't think there is enough evidence from the prior public sales of DN prints to be able to reliably comment on whether it will affect the value or not.
On a signed print it's not great I suppose but I'm quite happy that my unsigned has been reassigned as an AP. It's a nice piece of pow/banksy history anyway
