Its not to say that one is better than the other as it does come down to personal preference. I can see similarities through the technique but they are each their own unique artist - it is fantastic to see this type of work regardless. A break from the norm of the usual, predictable art we see here on a daily basis!

These works look a million miles apart from kwang ho shin to my eyes. Kwang ho seems to largely frame his abstraction within a facial form. Micallef like Auerbach seems to start with the face and work outward.

I would have thought that they will take a year or more to dry. Apparently all but one sold too. This has been my favourite show I've seen to date!

I'm also still coming to terms with the new work. For me his signature work is a demented portrait. And I mean demented in the best way possible of course. These new ones seem to follow suite. I appreciate the notes of other artists with similar techniques. Haha what if we said the same thing about the edgy stencil technique? Interesting looking at the effect art has on people as well...Mic's always good for at least that

I think the black and white oils & charcoals are the only ones from the show that will reproduce at all well. The texture of the others would be lost completely. |
