I wasn't comparing the artist's work I was expressing the thought that I don't think the $13000 price increase is justifiable. One has to look where the money is going. It's the same reason many collectors don't buy from galleries, because the prices can be over inflated due to the middleman taking his cut. The fact is as a collector there are many choices of what artist to purchase and I for one think there are better artist to invest in. I was just turned on by another forum member to Eddie Martinez who has a wonderful new set of lithos being released from Edition Copenhagen. I'm sure not everyone's cup of tea, but I like them and think they're a really good investment. Look, if anyone wants to purchase the Kaws prints please do, and enjoy them. My point was and is, I think there's better places to spend one's money, that's all. |

So that's $4,092.81 USD a print

I actually like that one. I'll jump in on a group if they want to let it go for 1K. Everyone else pays more, but no one has to worry about being stuck with that one.

The way I see it, KAWS made 10 editions of 100. Instead of being bothered with selling and packaging all 1000 prints, he sells the 100 and leaves the rest of the work up to you.

That isn't one of the set and doesn't look like a print. Nice piece though. That was one of the prints in the Ups and Downs set that covertshadowops mentioned possibly selling above. That was a much better set than this new one. Definitely regret not going in on a split set when those originally dropped. |

I know secondary market values and current market values have been consitenly on thie rise and have been very healthy for kaws' work but for a set of prints to jump up so high so fast especially for a living artist who has only been at it on this level for 5-10 yrs at best is a bit much, this is def taking advantage of the market, theres no doubt that theyll sell out but it seems like the "pre-order" is keeping it safe for them as they take a chance with throwing such a high number out there... so ups and downs = $2,500 per print, Presentiong the past = $3,500 No reply = %4,500 per print this is a very fast increase in such a short period.
