Art Appraisal • Art Valuation for Insurance, by Deleted on Feb 20, 2015 3:35:38 GMT 1, What a nightmare, I once had a framer cut about a 1/2 inch off of a white border from one of my prints it wasn't anywhere near as are as a banksy but still had some value. Luckily my insurance covered it as the framer stated they sometimes trim prints to fit t be frame which I thought was absurd.
Good luck with getting it sorted its usually a very quick process I'd say no longer then a week or two tops. But now you'll have to seek a new police kids as they will prob have you forfeit the damaged one.

Art Appraisal • Art Valuation for Insurance, by Deleted on Feb 20, 2015 6:55:29 GMT 1, Not sure how the insurance industry works in the US or UK to any depth but I think that over here they have an obligation to put you back where you were, which in this case means a new print rather than the value of the difference (which would be hard to establish?).
Good luck anyway, sounds like you have a very reputable framer!

Speaking of which, anyone else use the Brownhill Insurance art scheme and just have their policy cut from under them and the premium triple? Or am I the only lucky one

I also notice that they state "we will not pay any claim unless you produce an independent professional valuation at the time of any loss or damage"

That's pretty standard; you don't want people picking the value of their item out of thin air.

Art Appraisal • Art Valuation for Insurance, by londonfx on Nov 14, 2015 22:58:35 GMT 1, I've only got a couple of pieces that are above £3000. So I've just informed my home insurance company of all the details and I think it's only cost an extra £6 per print to cover.
Does anybody else just use there home insurance provider? Or is the general consensus to use a separate dedicated art insurer?

My home insurance company is Directline Select and they cover all of my art, infact i am insured from point of purchase and prints are covered in transit which saves me a few quid when buying prints to be shipped.
