If you are looking to sell a single print with Sothebys then 10% would be what they would most probably look to charge you. If you had a few more Banksy's to sell or something a bit different then you could negotiate downwards.
I believe that what FR is alluding to is that if you choose to sell with a lower tier auction house then you would pay less than 10% commission.

So not quite $600k, but close. These are larger original spray paint pieces made by the hand of Banksy and not released as editioned multiples like many of the smaller canvases so there are far less of them. Show me where you can get an original non editioned Banksy for less. These used to sell at auction for as much or more than the canvases years ago but have lagged compared to them in recent years. That said, one hasnโt sold at auction since the recent price increases. I would imagine when one of these hits an auction soon the results would be in line with the current market and would surprise.
