Kunstrasen show, by lha on Jul 15, 2015 10:00:51 GMT 1, Well, the term "yellow" was used here in two different senses: 1. The first was an allusion to "cowardly" in the immediately preceding sentence. Rather clever, I thought. Or perhaps not. 2. The second was indeed racist. Likewise withย my earlier reference toย "gook" (which, among other things, brings to mind the excellent Geoffrey Wright film, Romper Stomper). I personally consider "gook" to be the more offensive expression, so it surprised me a littleย when you focussed onlyย on "yellow". [As an aside, I note that my paedophile-necrophiliac innuendo has yet to bring quibblers out of the woodwork. Perhaps they will cum later; a delayed ejaculation of sorts.] Without wishing to imply otherwise, I'm sure you caught on to the fact the entire last paragraphย was a satirical construct โ suggesting an unfortunate possible interpretation for the artwork, while also being a lampoon, a deliberately caricatural portrayal of Fox News and its unspoken but often insinuated views. indeed you've eloquently highlit two issues at least. one the general misinterpreation that people have with satire and.. the reluctance people have to stand up and point things out when they are .. glaring in their face. whilst..finding it easy to purchase something .. without so much as a thought as to how it may be re-intrpretted .. whether rightly or wrongly down the line. the ease and difficulty .. is something which is present throughout (look at the "flag" in the us right now... for example) ... you'll find this therefore the "target" of other artists - quite rightly.. and those artists ? well they'd be staring you in the face i equate the work above to some something akin from a fast food outlet - you might feel sated for a while... but the sugar wish soon wears off. .. but then that's only - me - you'll have to make your own mind up.
Agreed Met 'that's only you' Art is subjective and people make their own interpretations often in an instant. That's the beauty. Your opinion about the Fairytale piece and a fast food outlet is one you've come to. Stuffy art critics had a similar opinion about graffiti, street art, urban art etc for years. Some still have that opinion. Their answer is in the longevity, growth and popularity of the genre in the broadest respect. The writing is on the wall....
