what did you bid? Also what was the average price of these? And finally does anyone on this board own the tower that Peter Kennard and Cat Picton phillips designed? C

TOWER, by foreman on Feb 22, 2008 11:03:58 GMT 1, i personally liked the banksy/blu tower the best when i was there... as it was a miniature version of the exact graf blu did on the tower. i didnt put a bid on any of these and forget what the guide was asking.
this banksy/insect tower looks great. shame its getting flipped like this...

TOWER, by mcnuts on Feb 22, 2008 11:04:09 GMT 1, i dont see the appeal of these at all. they are pretty fookin ugly and not really well thought out, no underlying message, no whit which usually accompanies banksy’s work. Cheap tourist tat (understandably) worked over to raise some cash for charity. I understand bidding on them in that context, but flogging it on the bay? I don’t see the appeal of buying it beyond it have banksy’s signature in crappy crayon on the bottom. If someone other than banksy posted these towers on .info as their sculpture art, they would be shat at and not in an eelus kind of way

I think Rat had the Banksy/Kennard one (coke cans, wax and olive leaves if I remember). Very cool it was too. No idea about the Cat though.

TOWER, by Curley on Feb 22, 2008 13:04:45 GMT 1, Im going to be controversial now and disagree with my esteemed colleagues mcnuts and Mammal and say that i love these towers and would dearly love to own one over any of the prints.
I think they have great symbolism in what they portray and the fact they are carved from olive trees (as in the olive branch of peace)
and of course the fact that they are all hand finished by Banksy (unlike a certain print that i will not mention).

TOWER, by alsbabar on Feb 22, 2008 13:06:44 GMT 1, no matter what you say about this, like it or not, given the uniqueness of each one, these are a collectors item, and no doubt will find a home soon enough. The Bronze rat was a commissioned piece, which Banksy put his name to, which to me has less appeal, as it simply wasnt done by the artist himself, however i do know of one going for £75K!
