JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Dr Plip on Apr 25, 2015 10:25:51 GMT 1, JJ is represented by a publisher along with other artists and the publisher sells to a number of galleries nation wide. Not really as 'online' as the misinformed are trying to state. However, in 2015 it is not uncommon for these galleries (which are physical galleries) to take advantage of 'modern' technology and utilise e-commerce to increase revenue and exposure. There was an issue last year with some traders buying and listing on eBay as first point of sale but the publisher has put effort into stopping this as it devalued the brand. The next thing on the list is to put measures in place to stop supply to 'flippers' as again this causes damage to the brand and is wholly unfair on those who miss out and it artificially inflates the market. Does flipping artificially inflate the market though?

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by londonfx on Apr 25, 2015 10:36:10 GMT 1, JJ's work is produced by wishbone publishers. And cloud gallery are the main sellers of his work. There are many other galleries that sell his work but cloud are the biggest.
What makes a serious collector? If you have a Banksy or 10 pure evils? Who's to say?
Surely the main thing is. People are buying his work. Giving him a living. Doesn't matter if you like his work or not. You don't have to buy.
There's the obvious photoshopping, that some teenagers can do now in their bedroom. But the fact is they arent! Most people can cut out a stencil and spray it on a wall or a canvas like banksy. But they can't ยฃthousands for the their work.
So surely, beauty is in the eye of the beholder

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Stender on Apr 25, 2015 11:01:59 GMT 1, Would he have Disneys permission do you think? it's not like he's anonymous.
Art is very subjective and Regardless of how it's created if it's visually attractive it will sell.
I wouldn't of given a tenner at a bootfair for a Mark Rothko original. If you took the value out of most art would you still buy it? Would you buy a stop and search if it wasn't by Banksy?

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Apr 25, 2015 11:57:32 GMT 1, There are people willing to hang JJ Adams on their wall..So what?..I like some of his stuff not everything..There are galleries(and quite lots of them) who back him up and take his work and sell it..So what? He made a name for himself with or without our approval..Photoshop or non-photoshop people still buy his art and potentially they will still buy it if they like what they see..most likely there are not serious collectors but they just like the image and theme behind it..so there you go...Why would someone pay 10000 pounds for a dirty tissue where Andy Warhol painted his famous soup can??..Ohh..wait is Andy Warhol the King of Pop Art..but a dirty tissue???come on guys...Art comes in different forms..so..whether we like it or not there will be people out there with different taste and they will buy it anyway...even a photoshop image with s**tty frame if that makes them happy..oh yeah I forgot..it's called ART... People are buying the name not the art.
With Warhol and most big name artists it's all about the name.
Celebrity culture and so called blue chip investment.
Galleries and dealers are pushing a lot of editions onto buyers with the phrase, the next big thing or everyone is buying this artist.
At the same time sale rooms have ltd editions sold for a fraction of what they cost a decade or more ago from a gallery.

There is also too much of the original photo for a case of plagiarism unless permission was granted.
I wonder if it happens he will try the Richard Prince cop out?

Agreed. A lot of people get their guard up on this forum when people criticise work. The usual arguments are that if people like the work then those that don't should just be quiet, not buy it and let those that do talk about it. Original post was asking for opinions. Yes if a sales thread and you don't like it or overpriced walk away no need to comment. Discussion thread give your opinion either way but back it up with a reason.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by dodsi on Apr 25, 2015 14:44:29 GMT 1, The main issue with the people 'discussing' from a stand point of not liking the work are from an uninformed standpoint on a number of factors and choosing to ignore facts presented and carrying on arguing uninformed points.
Discussion is healthy and reading my previous posts on the subject I certainty agree with some of the negative opinions his work.
However, saying that one form of very simple art is somehow more intellectual than another because its less mainstream than another. Or discrediting something through its simplicity to replicate alone is too easy.
My case and point here is 'invader' seriously, WTF I am a talentless baffoon with shovels for hands and toffee apples for brains and even I - a remedial class Peter Griffin could brazenly create a quick mock up of this style of work and bring the artists talent into question.
But of course I wouldn't do that for fear of pitch forks and angry villagers.

age old images, given twists to look street, a little edgy for the young hipster about town, but actually on closer inspection just basic ideas carried out many many many times before, with no depth,no narrative, but some Chelsea mums have bought, cos it looked nice, so we should like it?

Eh? I don't have a single piece of JJ - I agree that some of it is aesthetically pleasing but some of it is very poor and lacks any imagination
You make of it what you will and if you like it then that is good enough reason to collect it. You cannot go into buying with pure investment in mind (well you can, and many do) but I'd like to think we have these threads to have a good healthy discussion - I appreciate some opposing balance to my views as you can sometimes become blinkered but suggesting manipulation is at the heart of every debate is becoming boring. Not everything centres around whether it will be worth something in 10 years time - will it still have appeal, is this purely fashionable, has it been purposefully designed to appeal to a mainstream audience are things that I debate when I see this
But on the flip side we are of a digital age and image manipulation and digitally produced art is (I think) developing into a recognised form itself, but maybe it will be of a mass consumption / high attrition model where some artists will come and go based purely on the ability to stay fashionable and appealing rather than valued for any depth to their work

I don't have a single piece of JJ - I agree that some of it is aesthetically pleasing but some of it is very poor and lacks any imagination You make of it what you will and if you like it then that is good enough reason to collect it. Not everything centres around whether it will be worth something in 10 years time - will it still have appeal, is this purely fashionable, has it been purposefully designed to appeal to a mainstream audience are things that I debate when I see this But on the flip side we are of a digital age and image manipulation and digitally produced art is (I think) developing into a recognised form itself, but maybe it will be of a mass consumption / high attrition model where some artists will come and go based purely on the ability to stay fashionable and appealing rather than valued for any depth to their work literally have no idea what you're saying in relation to my points, which were neither about investment, or your particular guardianship

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Apr 25, 2015 15:53:01 GMT 1, Digital made images are fine if they are original.
Max Grundy is an artist who is an OK painter and makes digital prints which are very original and visually striking.
Taking someones very expensively made or professional photo of an icon or an iconic photo and then Winehousing it with added tattoos etc is for instant effect as in a double take reaction. Like Di with tattoos etc etc.
It's decorative at best and it does not seem to make any valid or meaningful point or transmit any type of message.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Apr 25, 2015 15:58:42 GMT 1, Of course there is always an opening for a new artist with this type of stuff.
Just mix Adams with Whatson's technique.
Print out fotos of celebs and other people and just taggy tag tag straight onto the photos thereby not having to even cut any kind of stencil and not even having to add the tags with a computer program.
and also do a nice sideline of taggy tag tagging onto cereal boxes and soup cans and selling them on this forum and via some online intermediary gallery hip hop hypster and be the buzz of the urbain art world.
The new Whore Hole with the taggy tag tagging on household products and printed out fotos.

This^^
Nothing wrong with digital art. Ray Caesar is doing some good stuff. I don't own any of his work, and understand it's not for everyone, but at least it's creative and imaginative.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Stender on Apr 25, 2015 16:21:11 GMT 1, I like what I like, the medium or method doesn't make a massive amount of difference to me but I wouldn't pay loads for something that looks like a poster. What irks me is when people dissect art and talk a load of what I consider pretentious boll*cks a la Brian Sewell.

JJ Adams ๐ฌ๐ง Print Release โข Exhibition โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Apr 25, 2015 16:35:39 GMT 1, Sewell never talks bollows, about art.
On the other hand there is a lot of bolo's about art spoken and by people such as that portly Januszak.
A lot is politically motivated and about dumbing down the population to accept this shit.
There was a post on here about an auction of prints and Banksy prints selling for lowish prices and looking at what was on sale. There were a lot of great investments of very ltd editions for low prices including the Chapman bothers.
The editions in this auction is what is a good long term investment rather than the next quick flip which is what the urban art market ha sturned into.
It's interesting thet the Kate photo and others are probably heavily airbrushed anyway or touched up before JJ does his stuff on top.
anyway who wants a photo of a woman with ferret eyes on their wall?
