Upcoming Faile release, by CREAM on Oct 20, 2015 17:42:46 GMT 1, I can see why faile has started doing these kind of editions but can't help to think what they have been doing the last couple years is the exact opposite of why I fell in love with faile. They used to be all about the hand finished low edition works and those pieces always felt more special, like you were truly getting something unique from the artist. Now a days its all seems a bit to clean and polished, factory like even you could say. From their editions of 500 screen prints to now offset open editions. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for their success and understand they are trying to appeal to a wide range of people but for me I miss the magic of the earlier years.

Not being a pedant but it is still limited as its only available for a certain length of time. Personally I think its a great thing, and more artists should do it to make their work accessible to fans without large bank balances.

I'm hoping round, I love FedEx labels too.

I think they've continued to do 1 or 2 small editions a year... although they're more expensive! Sub Rosa, Gender Bender, I Used To Be Worth Something, Excaliber (just a few months ago)... and the wooden book covers, many of them unique.
It's amazing how much they do!

Not likely. It's two different customers. Someone who's willing to spend secondary market prices on an old screen print probably isn't interested in an open edition lithograph.

I don't have a problem with it being a timed release and would have got one anyway but I do think it was strange to announce it as a limited and a bit misleading.

This won't help/hurt the value of the limited edition pieces, and this is a great get for people who love this particular image.
I have always wanted to own the LE, but wasn't sure it'd make the wall (kiddo has to approve)...With this, I get the image I've personally wanted for years and the investment isn't too high if my daughter still isn't feeling it. I am personally, very happy that this option was made available, and have added it to my collection.
Congrats to those who have as well.
As stated, this is for the collector that loves the image, and doesn't want to invest 20x the price for the earlier limited edition. This won't help/hurt the value of the limited edition pieces, and this is a great get for people who love this particular image.

This what I'm getting at ,
Most people that want the dog image , won't got out and go for the small edition , when they can have the almost the same piece for a fraction of the cost and save a great deal amount of cash

I'm not sure it would lower prices of editioned older pieces.
Look at Geddes, you can get Hypostatis for quite cheap now, but the Red Cosmonaut stays significantly more rare, more pricey.
The old Faile pieces, especially with the dog are absolute icons and not an easy find. This release is for everyone to have some Faile on the wall. Guess they both have their public
