Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by moron on May 3, 2019 21:59:51 GMT 1, Basquiat rarely left noses out of the face she drew.
The letter S in this drawing looks different to one sin Basquiats drawings.
Basquiats letter B's were often top heavy unlike the B's in this drawing.
Shame the auction listing was culled. If it sold for a high price it could have lead to the discredit and downfall of Katawiki.
Never mind i'm sure other Sextons are available

Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by linter on May 25, 2019 16:23:14 GMT 1, through a friend of a friend i ran into a guy who has these two things he bought eight or ten years ago "at an auction." says they cost him 1k and he'd sell them for 1k. had them matted next to each other. i have no clue. might anyone here?
1/ the basquiat is sort of mixed media, about 20 x 28cm. he had the rear matted to show another b signature and an item number that signifies what? he has a coa, dated 2011, from a french co called bonnier art services that says the artwork can "rightfully be attributable to JMB." see photo.
2/ the warhol is a signed coke ad and has it's own coa. see photo
whether the coas are worth a hill of beans, i don't know. and whether either is genuine. but i thought i'd ask here and get ya'lls thoughts.
sorry about the order of the photos. system makes it well nigh impossible for one such as myself to reorder them.

Note: Photos above reordered for coherence.
You should consider the most likely path that would've been taken by someone who genuinely believes he owns authentic works by these two artists, and is looking to sell them.
The reasonable course of action would be to bring these pieces to a few galleries and auction houses for valuations and potential consignment.
I suspect this already happened, and that the seller may have been laughed at โ hence his attempt at securing a private sale through you.
__________
1. By way of aside regarding the Basquiat-style image, your reference to the text in the accompanying certificate is misleading by omission. The full, relevant section says: "We state the artwork can be rightfully regarded as attributable to the artist. Commonly we would describe this work as unique original work in manner of Jean-Michel Basquiat."
And as far as authentication goes, such words are valueless.
More importantly, this piece is a godawful fake and Bonnier Art Services was negligent or dishonest in its description.
See the well-known, genuine piece by Basquiat that it's a poor copy of โ called Eggs and Eggs, on public view at The Broad:
www.thebroad.org/art/jeanโmichel-basquiat/eyes-and-eggs
2. The cut-out book page with the autograph attributable to Andy Warhol is plausible. But in absence of credible provenance, there's no way of comfortably establishing authenticity. Something like this can be faked too easily.
I attribute zero weight to the "Certificate COA" by the Zurich-based entity with the PO Box address.

So everything is fake !!!

Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by Bill Hicks on Oct 21, 2019 12:10:26 GMT 1, Made nearly 40 years ago in New York City, Downtown 81 is a film that was written by the late style scribe Glenn OโBrien and directed by Edo Bertoglio, showing a day in the life of an emerging artist and starring Basquiat as himself: a young genius scrambling to raise money for rent so he can reclaim the apartment from which he was just evicted. The film was first shown at Cannes in 2000, and a newly restored edition of Downtown 81 is coming to Metrograph theater in Manhattan, where it will be screened from October 24 through November 1.

Jean-Michel Basquiat ๐บ๐ธ Brooklyn, New York โข Graffiti Art , by Lazarus II on Oct 29, 2019 8:02:31 GMT 1, Was fortunate to be in Tokyo for rugby world cup semis at the weekend and spent a few hours at this exhibition yesterday. It is excellent, lots of large canvas items, sketches, some writing on A4 lined paper, doodles, posters, videoโs, well worth a visit if you happen to be in Tokyo.
The majority of the canvas works were private owned and photography wasnt permitted but you could take pics of some works and iโll post below.
apologies for picture quality, in keeping with the rugby theme it was a bit of a scrum! If you think London gets busy with Japanese tourists with cameraโs, try Tokyo๐

They also made a print of it on paper in 2001 (edtn of 85). As far as I know, the Basquiat estate didn't license it for rugs. There's a few places like pixels.com that will do unlicensed repro's though.
