What I get from this (and mind me I don't know anything about British politics) is that they don't want to give Trump permission to talk to them because they don't agree with his policies? That seems so weird.

Aware that I do not agree with a great deal of what Bercow has said in the past. I still applaud what he has said now.

I never thought I'd ever be on the same side of an argument as Bercow but I think he has made what appears to be a principled stand here, for which I am sure there will be much gnashing of Tory teeth behind the scenes.
His comment that "after the imposition of the migrant ban I am even more strongly opposed to an address by President Trump in Westminster Hall." is not what you'd expect to hear from any Speaker, let alone one from the Tory ranks.

I have no idea how British politics works, but I imagine that they don't want to allow the so-called president a platform to speak in the house of commons, in the same way that a nightclub bouncer might choose to deny entry to a self-confessed sexual harasser that's a bit mouthy.

Donald Trump, by Dr Plip on Feb 7, 2017 16:19:34 GMT 1, I thought he wouldn't be able to surprise me anymore, having heard some of his campaign comments. I was proved wrong today. Nothing else to add really. Nearly 2 months on from your comment, how's your level of surprise these days?

Trump made it quite clear last week that he had no wish or intention to address parliament, and why would he ? Instead he has request a high visibility 'pomp and ceremony' visit meeting many Royals...
and judging by the fact more people in Britain want his visit means he is going to get what he wants.

Trump will make a speech in parliament anyway or wherever. Did Berco tell Theresa May she needed his permission to go to the US and make a speech there?
Is it true he has claimed half a million pounds in expenses over the last five years?

Donald Trump, by Deleted on Mar 14, 2017 0:38:44 GMT 1, John Bercow having a go at Trump from his priveliged position as speaker in the UK Parliament. Is something behind Bercows rhetoric?
Bercow is a good friend of that well known washing machine salesman called Jim.
www.thetimes.co.uk/article/bercow-blocked-vaz-revelations-after-accepting-poll-donations-gbs8ndr65
"John Bercow stopped the Commons being warned about police inquiries into Keith Vaz after accepting tens of thousands of pounds from the MP’s associates."

We knew it was coming, but ffs, such rediculous isolationism. The deal signed by almost 200 countries just isn't good for America! Sad day for the planet.
