Donald Trump, by Daniel Silk on Jun 3, 2017 14:48:56 GMT 1, That's an interesting point about British coal mines. I wonder what all the political parties would say to the idea of reopening coal mines for coal power stations? It would involve thousands of jobs, mostly likely labour voters? I wonder what the Unions view on climate change is? Cant imagine they would support more coal. But i guess they might be up for creating lots of jobs with a properly funded and supported renewable energy programme. Like the ones the tories ripped the heart out of when they removed the solar feed in tariffs. Would have been interesting if british coal mines were still big employers, and if whoever was in power would do anything to close them on purely environmental grounds, and how the media and public would feel about that.

I get what your saying, but at the same time, the world has moved on so there are more important issues to worry about. Some sociologist can write a paper on that.
What matters now is that we get seriously backing renewable energy and put stupidly dangerous ideas like fracking and nuclear out of our heads for good. Not only for the benefits to the planet but the benefits it would give us as individuals. Renewables are working in a direction where cheap to almost free power is available to the masses. That would make a huge difference to living standards alone, but of course, that doesnt appeal to those who profit from energy, they would rather see people freeze to death or chose power and heat or food than see free energy.
Back a better future rather than a more profitable one.

Donald Trump, by frankiefrench on Jun 10, 2017 3:05:37 GMT 1, These politicians play a master game of manipulation so that absolutely every single thing in the whole wide world ends in them making more money for the rich, themselves and their tax avoiding cronies. Too many cars? = congestion tax, now we simply have the same cars going into London but more money for the RICH. Too many carrier bags = simply offer MORE bags and charge people for them, no more free bags but more money for us rich C Nuts. Speed cameras, astronomical rents, rocketing food prices, insane inflation on EVERYthing, phones becoming the £400 spy micro chip in your pocket, (and No I don't have one) thank you... parking charges, road tax, council tax, inheritance tax, death tax, death, the end. Usually this would end with loads of swearing about the toffs.

Donald Trump, by .dappy on Jun 11, 2017 14:41:34 GMT 1, ... the cleanest form of fuel in terms of climate change is nuclear ...
... none of this shale milarky causing earthquakes and water pollution ...
... no wind turbines that dont work if it is not windy, kill migrating birds and are a blot on the land/sea scape ...
... no tidal flow - that stop boats and ships entering ports, disrupt the shoreline eco-system and stop fish entering their breeding grounds ...
... nuclear - it's the way forward ... I'm telling you 🙏 👍

Donald Trump, by Deleted on Jun 11, 2017 17:49:26 GMT 1, I tend to believe a left wing gouvernment to be a socialist government. A few posts back somebody mentioned we all know what the left stand for? A reply was a better future I believe.

Donald Trump, by gorkie on Jun 11, 2017 18:22:53 GMT 1, You are very confused politically if you automatically associate liberal/left politics with socialism.
But a lot of people are very confused these days.

Maybe you could educate me then. I'm happy to learn and willing to listen. How does your view of liberal / left politics differ from the fundamentals of a socialist type of politics?

You questioned my comment and told me I was confused. I politely asked for your knowledge and this your response. This is why this country is so divided when it comes to their political ideal. Your beliefs and political ideals do not make you morally or intellectually superior.

My morals and intellect also define my beliefs. We all need to find some common ground in this political divide. It seems obvious to me that the historic pattern of left and right wing parties winning power and then doing the complete opposite of the former does not work. Both types of politics have good ideas and bad ideas and we really need to recognise this.

Thanks. Rinse repeat. Base rate bias....
Looking at a list of airplane crashes by country does not change how dangerous / safe it is as a mode of transportation.
Same for nuclear accidents.
Up to you to embrace illogical reasoning though.
BTW I am not in favour of nuclear. I am in favour of interlectual honesty though

The way I see it is. Are you saying that you would be OK driving your car at 60 miles per hour on a road you have never been on before in thick fog where visibilty is limited late at night in winter because the probability of having an accident is there but never mined accidents do happen so drive fast and carry on?
One word Tesla (and I don't mean thats**tty plastic car)
