New Banksy - Calais, by Lroy on Dec 16, 2015 16:11:22 GMT 1, Anyway, I won't make any polemic ( I had enough ), but, with all my French touch ( lol ) and a bit of " delicatesse " , I don't know why a lot of forumists or internauts ( apart thebigboss borned in the North ) have angryness against Calais ?! Its like if I was angry against Folkeston, Manchester, etc... We are not football supporters teams... Calais is a town, as Bristol or Sheffield whith men, kids, dogs, women, kittten, fish and chips and even... a football team !
We all know ( the Mayor Bouchart too - I don't defend her, I am trying to be fair ) that the stencils were for the refugees or migrants. But the refugees, as the stencils, are in Calais, that's a fact. Since the beginning.
You have to remember that this town have had to accept first the migrants, because UK did not want - they still dont want - to leave them crossing the channel. It is not all the Towns that would accept 500, 3000 and now 6000 persons... Some, with the Front National per example, would try to chase them ( well there is Europe too as told Mattl ) ... And, anyway, look in UK, In France, in Germany, In Serbia, etc... which village or town are already accepting Gypsies camps ( with around only dozen of families ) , even now ? Nonne. Still no progress in this side.
I have nothing against UK of course, but we have not to put all the critics now in Calais because they have done or try to do what they can, but we can't also play a ping-pong ( is somebody have a ball here ? ;-) match with responsabilities of UK/France, Dover/Calais, The restoftheworld/Syria/Daesh, etc.. Most of the civils are also suffering of our bombs in Syria.
The stencils ? That's great. No bankrobbers here. Only gangsters, gypsies, robbers, vandals, thieves, dealers, swindlers, gamers, etc.. and of course wine and sausages !
F.cking Froggies ! :-)

Well we had some thieves trying or breaking some Invaders ( never protected, even in Paris ) , but I did not heard about walls flying in the air.
You thought to houses as Digard ?
Well, I have prepared for you the next movie with Omar, Chocolate( he was a clown ) , on your screen in fev 2016.

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 16, 2015 19:14:58 GMT 1, There are shanty towns in the USA and the cost of living in Africa is lowe r than teh US and in Europe. Someone is making a lot of money out of this so called migrant crisis. It is very complex indeed. Yep, GDPs of African countries are low and most African are poor... But most many African countries had a positive growth for years and some African countries are becoming the new economic hubs. Problem is that the growth only goes to a minority of people and that investment in infrastructure (which is costly) is not there yet. Gap between rich and poor is huge. Another richness of Africa omitted here is its population; the largest and the youngest... If you check UN demographic projection in Africa, you will see that a large percent of population will be below 15 yo. This said, it may change with more funding by China (it is coming). There are providing free interest loan to State to invest heavily in infrastructure (new road, railway, new port, etc.). And they said that soon Chinese company will set up in Africa. As for personal experience, I live in Nairobi, a hub of Eastern Africa. Nairobi is a big city and it is not Kenya and people here are very very rich. Lot of show off, big cars, big 4x4, etc. There is a guy living in my street who has the Tron motorbike, a Lamborghini, a Rool Royce Phantom, and list goes on. **************** As for Calais, it is indeed as Lroy said a poor town. Calais had a lot to offer (big port, ferry, etc.) but it is the French TRADE UNION (which are powerful) who killed the Calais and stopped any fundings/investments. f**king stupid UNION !! Exactly what they did with Air France and are doing now in town called La Rochelle (can you imagine they public servant do less hours than French law - there are the only one. The mayor has been assaulted numerous times)
Calais is a great town and people in Calais and northern France generally very friendly and great people.
Living in the south and getting to know the French it's not the French people but the general politics of France and double dealing and corruption which affects the French peoples lives.
The ordinary French who work for a living tolerate the system which benefits the borgouise.
The people in Calais do not want the migrants on their doorstep and I doubt anyone else would want them in their town either in France or in the UK if theye were honest.
The mayor is a puppet pandering to the government and politics which panders to political correctness and panders to outside interests.
Refugees should be processed quickly and given either temporary or long term asylum.
Economic migrants should be treated the same way no matter which country they have arrived from.
In other words, no special treatment.

New Banksy - Calais, by docean on Dec 17, 2015 7:19:51 GMT 1, All of your art critiques are as deep as it gets. comparing stencil art in the street to realism is a huge lol, especially when the narrative is the most powerful message at an absolute perfect time in our lives. His platform is what matters, and he has power to bring issues to light with impeccable timing, much like Chris Rock, or Louis CK. he barks, we listen. Im going to say it, and its going to be hard so I hope everyone is sitting. Banksy's conceptual prowess have far outweighed his artistic ability since the beginning. Quite frankly, while I believe he is a celebrity artist and I love his contribution, he isnt very good at "art". him and his team are INCREDIBLY good at politics, and narrative. Youre telling me you actually like the artwork of WSM, Grannies, Flags, That jesus one, etc? Its the idea that carries it all forward, and the style is just "banksy". We know what we're getting. Sometimes he surprises us, Monkey Parliament, Dismaland, etc but the same old 15 year old style keeps resurfacing and as an entire body of work, artistically it really isnt that good. So, before anyone starts critiquing the work so simply, sit back and examine the piece in the context of human history, art history, and what it REALLY means for it to be sitting where it is. because you sound ridiculous. couldn't agree more. TM is visual garbage that looks like Microsoft Paint got a virus. I like most of his work for the message...the style is hit or miss.
it blows my mind how caught up everyone is on SJ's head...who cares? he's kind of leaning forward so if you allow yourself to forget it's a 2d piece for a moment it almost appears to have depth to it...imo (maybe I just need better glasses and some sleep)

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 17, 2015 11:13:19 GMT 1, and to fix this problem in Calais.
Banksy's message is that Steve Jobes became a billionaire and that all the rich people should buy houses for all the migrants.
Banksy could house a few of these fit young men in one of his properties for free.
The politicians speak down to us like we are children or imbeciles.
Why don't they take in a few of these Calais migrants and house them.
People say that there is nothing wrong with people wnating to improve their economic situation.
Same people said nothing about the Roma camps bulldozed in France and the poor Roma kicked out of France.
Improving ones economic situation is good if people do it honestly.
www.express.co.uk/news/world/627379/Calais-Migrants-Banksy-Art-Admission-Jungle
Now you can pay some of the migrants twenty euroes to have a look at your favorite cartoon of Steve Jobs mush.
Maybe for an extra few quid the migrants will do a little jig or sing a Faity Tale in New York around a piano.
Who pays to clean up the mess and garbage they leave locally?
Not the Mayor or politicians but the local taxpayers and also local small business owners.
Now they have mink fur coats, big cigars and an original Banksy plus their iphones and free food.
Life doesn't get any better.

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 17, 2015 11:44:08 GMT 1, Interesting twist of words there.
Most in Calais are not from Syria and most are not refugees.
Burnham and Corbyn , Geldof etc have said they would house genuine Syrian refugees. Not Africans from Calais.
In reality has Corbyn or any other of these people actually housed anyone?
They must be tripping over homeless people in the UK whilst running towards the interviewers and promoting their socialist policies.
Lets see these politicians put their money where their mouth is and actally house genuine Syrian refugees. Let me know when it happenes.
They are happy to give shelter in the UK to people likes these tw living rent free in houses in Birmingham.
"A murderer who admits killing up to 400 people – many in bloody machete attacks – is living in the UK after being granted asylum."
www.jambonewspot.com/kenyan-man-who-confessed-in-uk-to-killing-400-kenyans-will-not-be-deported/
"we kill everyone. Sometimes they said “wipe out an entire village”. And we shoot to kill. Most were civilians.
'Most were women. Innocent people running out and being killed, including children. There are many rapes.’"
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2297840/ON-benefits-Birmingham-African-war-criminal-kick-Rent-murderer-staying-human-righgts-grounds-funded-tax-payer.html
Honest people it seems are punished whilst criminals get free houses.

My point was around the theme of MP's offering personal help to people in need. Which is why I qualified my statement and did not refer to Calais. MPs like Corbyn are rare - He does try to stand by his principles - I genuinely believe that his integrity is sound. Corbyn has some good points but like all politicians is biased and avoids the truth when it suits. In order to not offend Labour party voters etc.
All parties are dishonest these days.
The behaviour of the "migrants" in Calais breaking into lorries and stuff ignored by the police yet if anyone else did the same they would soon be arrested and prosecuted.

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 17, 2015 12:38:48 GMT 1, I don't want to enter into political debates.... but I saw you posted an article about Kenya... and the dreaded Mungiki. I checked in Kenyan blogosphere and this story is pure fiction, totally invented by John to get asylum. And here is the DailyMail correction - www.dailymail.co.uk/home/article-2358221/Clarifications-corrections.html
"An article on Mail Online reported claims by John Thuo, a Kenyan national who had sought asylum in the UK, that he had committed a number of murders in Kenya. In fact, the immigration tribunal found his claims unlikely to be true, and allowed his appeal due to the risk of his committing suicide if he was sent back. "

The BOTI thread has some wonderful photos on it, just right for a rainy day indoors. I thought that was a picture of some poor refugee on the ground, about to get kicked by Ploppi while he's down.. That's slanderous as I have always posted and said I fully support genuine refugees should be processed quickly and helped and given asylum.
I was criticising the motives of economic migrants and their agenda.

I have no time for freeloaders though when there are many that struggle and get no sympathy.

New Banksy - Calais, by sakyamuni on Dec 17, 2015 13:22:39 GMT 1, Don't want to enter in a specific case, but just a little clarification...
first regarding aylum: The international refugee instruments governing refugee law lay out criteria for the recognition of refugees. They also establish criteria by which individuals may be excluded from international protection. The term "exclusion clauses" refers to legal provisions designed to achieve this effect. Article 1F of the 1951 Convention includes a number of exclusion clauses:1
"The provisions of this Convention shall not apply to any person with respect to whom there are serious reasons for considering that:
(a) he has committed a crime against peace, a war crime, or a crime against humanity, as defined in the international instruments drawn up to make provision in respect of such crimes;
(b) he has committed a serious non-political crime outside the country of refuge prior to his admission to that country as a refugee;
(c) he has been guilty of acts contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations."
Secondly, even if asylum is denied, that doesn't mean that the person will be deported. According to the European court of human rights, "where substantial grounds can be shown for believing that an individual, if expelled, faces a real risk of being subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment in the receiving country, then the responsibility of the sending state will be engaged on the grounds that if it were to expel the individual, the exposure of the individual to proscribed ill-treatment would be a direct consequence of its action".
You may disagree with these provisions but as of today, this is how it works in Europe, UK included (as UK signed the 1951 refugee convention and the European HR convention)...

New Banksy - Calais, by sakyamuni on Dec 17, 2015 14:48:20 GMT 1, So what is preventing them all from registering or seeking asylum in France? answers on a postcard. In France there is no right of appeal Not true. The Cour Nationale du Droit d'asile (CNDA) is the court of appeal for all the cases in France. The right to appeal if denied asylum is usually given everywhere, not only in France or UK. France allows UNHCR to have a representative during the hearings (an associate judge appointed by UNHCR) in this court, UK does not. I know this pretty well as I was one of them a few years back...
They don't want to seek asylum in France because they want to live in England, where they thik it will be easier to find a job and where, very often, they have relatives living/working there, it is as simple as that. Same reason why they don't apply in every country they travelled through during their journey. This is not a legal issue, but a personal choice. However, no one can deny the fact that they are there and it has to be addressed...

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 17, 2015 14:56:27 GMT 1, There will be many many more now that the word is out that Binky painted a couple walls. Not only refugees will settle down in Calais, also drones of reporters, Banksy fanatics and officials with tape measures for their plexiglass will move in. No one will ever want to leave Calais and those pieces of art.
Calais will be bigger than Paris, and no refugee will be making the crossing to the UK ever again.
And they all lived happily ever after

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 17, 2015 15:23:04 GMT 1, France has a very good system for refugees and asylum seekers.
It is also very generous with it's benefits too and even for people from non EU countries.
Not too long ago a group of Macedonians arrived where I am and they were refused benefits.
They decided to take the local social security dept to court and were given benefits very quickly.
The people most discrimnated agianst seem to be the Brits in France in my region where the French admin can lose paperwork and make up rules as it suits them.
I'm sure a lot of the thousands heading for the UK do want to work and improve their lifestyle and fit in with the UK way of life.
People should be given a chance.
but also the UK should not be soft on removing illegal immigrants and immigrants who arrived in the UK and took par in crime and criminal activity.
It will sort itself out and one would have thought that by registering in France, they would be free to travel in the EU not long after.
Plus many made a boat trip to European waters and the English Channel to UK waters is less of a distance so any locals with a big rowing boat or jet ski or water ski's or inflatable boat or pedalo's etc could give a few a ride to UK waters quite easily.
I can't really see the French navy turning them back.

Can't blame him if he is Kurdish. The UK is better than Germany. The Kurds have had a hard time for decades.
