The only time I've seen a MBW was on a wall at a fancy Los Angeles home, owned by a top voice-over guy. He was quite proud of it, obviously got through a gallery. I imagine these get snapped up by galleries and sold to their clientele.
But you can blame the French!

Warhol also used Basquiat for his own benefit. He collaborated with the younger artist a time when his own stock was low in the artworld and saw Basquiat as a way to regain some traction and credibility.
If you're that enraged by MBW's use of a Basquiat to make art/money, then you might also want point a finger at Shepard Fairey and Pure Evil to name but two others who have produced Basquiat prints in the name of profit.
