MBW New print Basquiat, by d.r. perseus on Apr 10, 2016 19:27:18 GMT 1, Relax yourself. It was genuine question. Where is MBW's market? Is he popular in America? Stop trying to cover your tracks and dig yourself out of a hole. Your reference to Americans was insulting, as if only the Americans will buy MBW rubbish. Why single out Americans? Why not any people from other countries? It's BS and you know it. I'm sure the MBW market is world wide after all it is a global economy. I bet there are even some people in England who not only like but actually own a MBW piece. Additionally, let me quote you " For anyone who says MBW gets dealt an unfair hand from us..." I can only hope that when you say "us" you mean the members of this forum collectively, including the Americans. Your "us" should rationally blend harmoniously with society and all the members of this forum. To all forum members ; please in the future don't single out one nation or race, creed ,color, religion, or sexual preference in your comments. I had hoped individually and collectively we were of higher thinking and moral fortitude than this. This is all I am going to say on this topic and as far as I'm concerned it's over. Now I will go back to trying to be a nice American.
How many MBW prints do you have?

Maybe we could ask his business where his main market is? but no one cares really, do they?
i could be wrong on everything above, usually am, sitting on a fence now, no offence intended, no flag waving from me, love and peace

MBW New print Basquiat, by Deleted on Apr 12, 2016 18:55:44 GMT 1, This is the most annoying thread in a while. Enough America sucks / America is great blah blah blah. Can we talk about something that's actually interesting instead of talking shit about America or not America ? We might as well be arguing about whether Disney sold out with the new Star Wars, or maybe whether Obama is an American citizen or something.... Brainwash gets a shtload of people to to buy his cookie cutter crap, who cares who they are.

MBW New print Basquiat, by Daniel Silk on Apr 12, 2016 19:11:01 GMT 1, I would guess Mr Brainwash sells most of his art in America, don't you think? That's the impression I always get. It feels a bit like he has been taken on well by news media there, and has become a household name maybe in the same way Banksy is in the UK, and Dolk in Norway, Blek in France.

It feels a bit like he has been taken on well by news media there, and has become a household name maybe in the same way Banksy is in the UK, and Dolk in Norway, Blek in France. He's nowhere near a household name, nobody in the US, outside of the same art/print world you guys are all in, has ever heard of him and he also gets zero media here. He sells most of his art to people looking to either quickly profit off of it or to those needing to keep the hype train up in order to protect their early investment. A "MBW might be Banksy" bubble was created with ETTGS and tons of people who got suckered into it (I'm guessing most are people who missed out on the Banksy train) are trying to justify their purchases or trying to keep the hype going so they don't lose a lot of money. There's also an exception of those who buy because they actually like it but not many. He is defiantly not a household name, but people outside of the art/print world defiantly know who he is. Lots of people in the US saw Exit Through the Gift Shop and he gets a decent amount of press. The first lady was hanging out with him a couple weeks back, he is on TMZ all the time. He is no Banksy when it comes to popularity, but he is unfortunately is pretty recognizable when it comes to artists

MBW New print Basquiat, by Howard Johnson on Apr 12, 2016 20:45:16 GMT 1, The sad thing is that he (or his assistants) are capable of producing interesting images. Take the painting below. Its a somewhat nuanced homage to Basquiat executed in a style thats technically very competent. But instead of printing this, he releases a photoshopped mishmash of garbage.

Such a silly argument. My nation gave rise to Thomas Kinkade boutiques in malls. We really gonna argue about the taste of my fellow Americans?
We exist on a large spectrum from lovers of total garbage to being pretentious like the French.

MBW New print Basquiat, by Deleted on Apr 13, 2016 11:33:22 GMT 1, It's definately the Banksy link and factor and art clique that sucks up to celebrities that Thierry whats his name is involved with plus the flip factor that means that there will always be people that buy the rpints to flip which creates an interest and a market. Some people belive that Brainwash is Banksy and the mysoginist rant on Choes blog about leave Banksy alone said that he met Banksy in the US who was an arab looking guy. Brainwash or Lazarides ?
The people that buy a lot of these drops don't care about the image or who painted it or if the image was just stolen or plagiarised from other people as long as they see a profit in re selling it they will buy it.
Brainwash and the Banksy film created a big buzz courtesy of Banksy's highly paid PR team that used media and other contacts to gain column inches. Brainwash is in the right part of the US plus his French accent is exotic to some in that part of the world who thought he is an artist not just some plagiarist who pays others to make bad photo shopped efforts and who hypocritically wasted no time in trying to sue the "life is beautiful" festival for using the title "life is beautiful". Just an a hole in my book and Fairey is not far behind.

MBW New print Basquiat, by davievegas on Apr 13, 2016 22:49:02 GMT 1, LOL only 1 sold on ebay. Not many times flippers lose money on a buy especially with MBW but they def lost on this one. New this would happen. Cant buy everything MBW makes and thinks it will make money. Maybe they learned a lesson? Probably not.
