Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Passion Art on Dec 3, 2007 18:33:15 GMT 1, surely the experience is reward enough? ?!! surely the journey there, and the experiences one has while there will be more than reward enough on a soul/heart/mind level, but they are setting up an art shop in Bethlehem....and Im sure the experience will not seem like enough once the bun fights start and people walk away empty handed....and the threads pour on here about how some guy and his kids got all the prints....
Do you really think that's what's going to happen? I see the people that make the journey there walking away not only with whatever they want, but also an experience that can't be expressed in terms of dollars or pounds. Maybe I'm overly optimistic but I don't see a lot of flippers making the journey out there on such short notice.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by spirit on Dec 3, 2007 18:33:59 GMT 1, God, something new from Banksy (on paper) shouldn't be toooo much to ask....Reward the people who are going to make the journey to the Ghetto this year with something that's not just rare because it's covered in gold ink, but because it's an image that hasn't already been plastered around for 14 months or more......I wouldn't sneeze at either the Gold Flags or the cheap paper Trolleys, but I would be slightly disappointed to get all the way there and find those two prints, at those prices, as my reward i didn't realise Banksy owed you anything? Is everyone losing sight of the reason it's being done? 1 - Highlight the issues in Palestine 2 - Make money for local Palestinian charities Printing a new image to "reward" ungrateful board members is probably way down the list, in fact, it's not even on the fu cking list
Morrissey didn't say Banksy owed ungrateful board members (or him) anything. He said "Reward the people who are going to make the journey to the Ghetto this year"

I think that would be amazing if it happens, and I hope there are no flippers that make it there, just so this does stand out as one of the rare times that the art and the message wins out over the business end.....but I think that things have come a long way down a crazy road, and unfortunately, these prints, like all others, will eventually find their way onto ebay...( not all...some will cherrish them...I know that)...but some will find their way to the bay....I know Im getting negged for being negative and for sharing my honest feelings on all of this, but too bad, losing points for being honest is like getting points for lying

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by gtf on Dec 3, 2007 18:51:52 GMT 1, I'm sure there are a hundred & one reasons why POW, Banksy, other artists are doing this, but I believe that the ones below are probably the main reasons.
1 - Highlight the issues in Palestine 2 - Make money for local Palestinian charities
Remeber Banksy and others have been out there before when there was no prints/originals for sale.
POW have put on a show, made no promises so why should people be rewarded for going? Rewards are for dogs that have been good!
p.s. My Keeping it real award goes to Rolyateel

There is no POW, no Laz, no Banksy (the Business), without all of us here fighting over paper.....we're not losing the point on all of this, and if POW wanted more people to get their sudden "message" they should have links to UNICEF and War Child for the Ghetto pages....but no, they know that this is all a very clever way to sell art, and to try to be different from the rest, and to make some political statement at the same time as they count their sterling......so actually, yes, maybe they do owe me something...give me a print now!!!!
I don't see PoW or Banksy twisting yr arm forcing you to buy these prints, all I see is you with yr head up yr arse spouting materialistic crap

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Ron Goldsurfer on Dec 3, 2007 20:02:31 GMT 1, couldยดnt see any mention about the new Banksy editions that are ONLY for sale at the store in Betlehem but check them them out at the Santas site.
One Trolleys edition of 28 done on end paper, $2500 each and a special Flag in gold, edition of 112 that cost $1000.
You lucky bastards that went there! ;-)

Spouting materialistic crap....welcome to a modern art forum....where people spend endless hours talking about prints, priginals, posters, things they can buy, things they can't buy, trading, swapping, selling, taking out loans, future values, investments, bad investments, which print is bigger, which is of a smaller edition, hand-signed, hand-embelished, which frame should I use, should I spend 500 pounds on a white frame for a piece of paper, how much can I get for this, who wants this, how many things do I have.....?
If it wasn't for materialistic crap there would be no POW, no SOS, no Lazinc, no BRP, no Banksy prints.....and no Santas Ghetto (which by the way, even though the "profit" is going to good use, is still profit from more materialistic crap)
One question...do you hang art, or receipts from your charitable donations?
And like I said....taking away neg. points for being honest is just as bad as giving points for lying

I can only suggest that BS stands for Beit Sahour...a place just outside Bethlehem. But I've not looked at the script on the bin yet.

I haven't negged you either (I've never negged any1)..I just love the debate!
And I think that we're agreeing with the same things we're arguing about....I know and agree that a lot of good will come out of this, but the cynic in me just sees a bunch of rich guys (or more likely just a couple of rich guys) doing their "good deed" for the year to make themselves feel better about their inflated, unbelievable lives....and yes, I do want prints, I want art, and I want as much as I can get.....I love my "things", until I fall out of love with them, then I want new things.......just the way it is,,,,but I see what you're saying about all of this having a real meaning, but for someone like me (who is admittedly a little greedy, selfish, and who is definitely obsessive) I just want to know which print I can get...... +1 for the debate..I was really bored at work today, so thank you
Spouting materialistic crap....welcome to a modern art forum....where people spend endless hours talking about prints, priginals, posters, things they can buy, things they can't buy, trading, swapping, selling, taking out loans, future values, investments, bad investments, which print is bigger, which is of a smaller edition, hand-signed, hand-embelished, which frame should I use, should I spend 500 pounds on a white frame for a piece of paper, how much can I get for this, who wants this, how many things do I have.....? If it wasn't for materialistic crap there would be no POW, no SOS, no Lazinc, no BRP, no Banksy prints.....and no Santas Ghetto (which by the way, even though the "profit" is going to good use, is still profit from more materialistic crap) One question...do you hang art, or receipts from your charitable donations? And like I said....taking away neg. points for being honest is just as bad as giving points for lying i haven't negged you...yet and I'm aware that PoW is a business, there to make money, however on this occassion they're doing something un-materialistic & at the same time are highlighting a major issue...both of which you seem to have missed whilst pound signs have been whirling around in yr eyes I haven't negged you either (I've never negged any1)..I just love the debate!

I think Banksy is doing this for all the right reasons. I fully agree with it but unfortunately can't actually support it.
