I'm thinking about getting Banksy's Wall and Piece for a x-mas gift. I personally have a hardcover from 2005, but I noticed a newer printed edition (paperback I think) that was printed in 2007 has more pages.

My question...is this newer version any different? does it include more pictures, etc.?

Any help would be appreciated.

the hardback 1 i have has the trolleys in black and white, but my friends paperback 1 has it in colour

i think i prefer mine because there seems 2 b a better order and structure 2 where everything is in the book

I think the "success" can be measured in many ways. If it is based on the quality of the prints there are positives and negatives that have been debated a lot already on the forum. If it is about raising awareness I think it has had success, but people can quickly forget what the message was in only a few months. From a financial point of view we should not forget that POW and the artists have donated over £1m to charity, this is a very significant amount of money helping the needy directly and the increased awareness, at least from POW customers may mean that further donations of time, resource or hard cash may follow. Re the pricing some has been high, which maximises the donations to the charities and reduces the profits being made by flipping the prints. With some artists such as Banksy the line between setting an affordable price for his fans and one that prevents ppl profiting is a hard one. I think £525 for a signed print is the right amount to pitch them to the public or else too many people will not be able to afford them from the outset, but this still allows resellers to more than double their money over night.

Next year Burma? Definitely a country who's plight needs to be highlighted, but maybe even more difficult for them to operate from and us to get there. Let's hope this time next year things will be better there, but no doubt there will be a number of countries with less than an ideal social / economic situation

I think a good marker of it's success will be how the money is spent. If they do manage to build a school and that it keeps on going for many years then it will def be a success.

But it was definately worth doing just in terms of raising awareness.

I don't thik it's likely to be in a normal place like London or LA again, but more likely to be places where they can raise awareness of a particular cause. For example they're building a similar West Bank wall in Baghdad so they could do one there.

Cuba next year would be nice...but would bugger all the American fans.

Yeah, it must have been a nightmare to get something like that organized in that time I would imagine they could not have picked any location in the world as tricky as they did.

Yes, well done for going, that's what it was all about, well, that and raising money for Palestinian causes. The art on the wall over there looks amazing, as does a fair amount of what's in the ghetto shop itself. As for on-line sales I only bought the Banksy but would have liked the Gee Vaucher too.
