Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by Deleted on Oct 13, 2021 11:20:41 GMT 1, Just wish there was more liquidity in the Blu market old sports. This at least is a start chaps.
Instead of conceiving pump threads about Nick W****r that nitwit from Digard with a UAA account at this command should be broadcasting this piece instead imo old sports.

Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by sapi on Oct 14, 2021 21:10:04 GMT 1, (Not mine. Not affiliated in any way. Just stumbled over this.)
Digard's auction of a Blu Rennes UV is also on Artsy (www.artsy.net/artwork/blu-rennes-2). *not mine / not affiliated
when these were first released, i looked through them all trying to choose and figured out that most of them have registration issues which cause the watercolor layer to bleed into the eyes (and sometimes muddy the heart as well). i recently went back through and compared all 25 Rennes UVs and my count is the eyes are partly or completely compromised in 21 of the 25 UVs.
compare the eyes in the standard edition print
to the eyes in UV22 (the print i chose)
to the eyes on the other UVs (web.archive.org/web/20120506081553/http://studiocromie.org/gallery.php?id_art=56&id=616)

Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by sapi on Oct 15, 2021 3:37:54 GMT 1, ๐that said, this (www.artsy.net/artwork/blu-rennes-2) is still an opportunity for a Blu unique variant of one of his best prints.
my recent attempt to quantify Blu's favorite murals covered in Minima Muralia places Rennes in top 10: urbanartassociation.com/post/2126095
and it is my vote for his top print (the standard edition and the UVs) -- (1) they function like a large detailed sketch for one of Blu's most iconic murals; (2) they have classic Blu OCD features (where a lot of little things - in this case manmade products like cars, trucks, monitors, a bed, guns, missiles (everything including the kitchen sink) and a dog - is combined into a giant robotic thing (examining and holding a blood red heart)); (3) they are politically engaged and open to interpretation (e.g., the monster consumer society considering/on the verge of possibly crushing a heart, or maybe just examing it?); & (4) they are beautiful/sublime, with countless objects lovingly rendered, and nice to live with (i mention this because some of Blu's works are painful to look at).
compare the opening bid (โฌ5,000) to the asking price for a parallel unique variant of Headquarters, also on Artsy (โฌ45,000) www.artsy.net/artwork/blu-untitled-4

Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by viz on Oct 15, 2021 8:03:13 GMT 1, I always thought, and still think, all these "hand finished" editions (either rennes, demos and headquarter) were artistically quite poor. Some watercolor added randomly on top of the (beautiful) original versions, just to sell it at a higher price because of its uniqueness.
BLU is a draftsman (drawer? which is the correct english word?) not a painter. He could have added a little unique drawing to each edtion, keeping the original colors and those would have been incredible works, as the headquarter with the drawned tattoo on the shoulder that some member posted on here some time ago.

Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by dp on Oct 15, 2021 10:16:13 GMT 1, Thank you for this, this is amazing.
I have the book but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I'm also going to invest in the special edition with the posters while I am at it, now I have seen the posters properly.
I really like the Sรฃo Paulo picture, I have never seen that before. Do you mean that there is just one drawing of it available somewhere?
(I also really like the Colombian one of the suited hand chopping skulls to make lines of coke, that didn't make your list)
Both these pictures capture the drama of these places very well (I lived in Rio 12 years so know a bit about it).
thanks again for the information!

He could have added a little unique drawing to each edtion, keeping the original colors and those would have been incredible works, as the headquarter with the drawned tattoo on the shoulder that some member posted on here some time ago. to me the better ones read as unique alternate colorways of the standard prints (so i think of them like Banksy's alternate colorways - only unique instead of small editions). given the limited number of unique Blu's that relate to his mural practice, and the limited supply of works with significant wall appeal, this is what the Blu collector market has.
i agree with The Italian One, the standard edition of Rennes is better (it is much more considered in the shading and thus depth of all of the individual items making up the figure, and the color space also closely matches the mural). that said, the UVs are significantly more valuable (and the messiness of the UVs arguably more closely matches what happens in street art when the paint hits the walls and all the individual items are still discernible under the watercolor layers). the UVs are also more striking (in color, as it were).

the list is my attempt to discern Blu's favorites from the real estate he gave them in the book (and also considering the prints in the special edition, the special edition book sleeve, and favoring the fold-out pages). there were 4-5 more murals that received 4 pages each in the book (but not fold-out pages, and they had no parallel prints) and i preferenced Rennes and Headquarters (which also had 4 pages) because Blu also made prints of them. Gaza Strip received a 3-page fold-out but not a forth page and is also on the cusp of the top 10.

the original sales page is still on the internet archive and includes a small image (web.archive.org/web/20140903192008/http:/www.artsh.it/blog/?page_id=409). those are the last two Blu originals ever sold on the primary market (is my understanding).
a year or so before that listing appeared, my friend and I had been discussing the Money Shark drawing, wondering if there were other large detailed Blu drawings out there, and we both agreed that a sketch of the Cristo mural would be amazing. when it came up for sale, I alerted my friend and that conversation helped push him into the uncomfortable place of spending so much on a drawing.

it is not a lithograph (Digard, an art auction house, should not mix up different printing techniques in their listings). in the original email releasing the Rennes UVs, Studio Cromie identified the work as screenprint: "three colors screenprint on watercolored background." my best guess is Studio Cromie put the watercolor through the screens as well (so it would be a four color screenprint with one color being watercolor and not screenprint ink)

Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by sapi on Oct 20, 2021 22:04:48 GMT 1, How much were the drawing when they first release it? "untitled (Brazil)" - the drawing for the Cristo mural, was โฌ20,000 when it was released in 2012 (same price as the parallel "untitled (Money Shark)" a few years before).
the smaller work also shown was โฌ4,000 (web.archive.org/web/20140903192008/http:/www.artsh.it/blog/?page_id=409)
looking back through my email today, i found a link to this image of Blu painting Cristo (not sure where it is from)
How much were the drawing when they first release it? "untitled (Brazil)" - the drawing for the Cristo mural, was โฌ20,000 when it was released in 2012 (same price as the parallel "untitled (Money Shark)" a few years before). the smaller work also shown was โฌ4,000 ( web.archive.org/web/20140903192008/http:/www.artsh.it/blog/?page_id=409) looking back through my email today, i found a link to this image of Blu painting Cristo (not sure where it is from)

Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by Ace on Oct 21, 2021 9:37:03 GMT 1, ๐that said, this ( www.artsy.net/artwork/blu-rennes-2) is still an opportunity for a Blu unique variant of one of his best prints. my recent attempt to quantify Blu's favorite murals covered in Minima Muralia places Rennes in top 10: urbanartassociation.com/post/2126095 and it is my vote for his top print (the standard edition and the UVs) -- (1) they function like a large detailed sketch for one of Blu's most iconic murals; (2) they have classic Blu OCD features (where a lot of little things - in this case manmade products like cars, trucks, monitors, a bed, guns, missiles (everything including the kitchen sink) and a dog - is combined into a giant robotic thing (examining and holding a blood red heart)); (3) they are politically engaged and open to interpretation (e.g., the monster consumer society considering/on the verge of possibly crushing a heart, or maybe just examing it?); & (4) they are beautiful/sublime, with countless objects lovingly rendered, and nice to live with (i mention this because some of Blu's works are painful to look at). compare the opening bid (โฌ5,000) to the asking price for a parallel unique variant of Headquarters, also on Artsy (โฌ45,000) www.artsy.net/artwork/blu-untitled-4 Ace 's post on the blu street art thread ( urbanartassociation.com/post/2128962/thread) mentioned the Rennes UV being a lithograph, which is consistent with Digard's listing on Artsy ("Watercolor and mixed media on lithography on paper") and something i had not noticed. it is not a lithograph (Digard, an art auction house, should not mix up different printing techniques in their listings). in the original email releasing the Rennes UVs, Studio Cromie identified the work as screenprint: "three colors screenprint on watercolored background." my best guess is Studio Cromie put the watercolor through the screens as well (so it would be a four color screenprint with one color being watercolor and not screenprint ink) thanks, I did not notice that - thanks for checking
