Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by Studiocromie on May 14, 2008 8:07:15 GMT 1, he has far more genuine substance, and makes bigger and more original statements, than most artists that are currently hyped beyond belief..... i think the things that are holding him back are: 1. the initial high price/large edition for his first POW release - though i still think is worth every cent - that turned a lot of street art fans off. Most like new artists to start humble and cheap. 2. some people's perception of how his work don't translate well to print (which is unfair, no print by any artist is ever going to be as good as their street work (trouble is BLU's street work is so jaw droppingly good, the gap is more obvious). BUT print vs print wise BLU's prints beat most POW releases by miles) 3. He's not "marketed" right, not striking the iron whilst it's hot. But that's cool, he's taking the scenic route to superstardom.... He'll last longer, make a huge-er impact than the current "mona lisa" crop...LONG LIVE DA KING! IMHO

the reason why he does not sell out it's JUST about marketing and all that crap.
i did not want to say it 'cause it may seem in my interest as well, but we're all slowly admiring how an artist that TRULY deserves the best is slowly getting there even if he's not promoted AT ALL.
the way it is happening, should make us all think about it.
why so slowly even if we everybody seems to agree he is one of the best street artists around?
talking about prices in this case is ridicolous imo, there are so many prints that sold out with that price that would leave a place on the wall themselves infront of world wide trap by blu.
talking about how his work transalte to prins is just not right as well.
most of the other prints on the market are 30 minutes on photoshop, no original content, no concept, no drawing skills.
this guy should just be supported for everything he does.
his last short animated movie, he did not gain any cent from that and it's available on youtube under a creative common license.
his pieces on walls, those are free art to enjoy and admire around the world.
there is no hype, there is no manager, there is no promotional tricks to raise his profile.
he does not even care about having a profile.
maybe im the only one who tries to push him everytime i can, but again, it's definitely not about my interests, it's because for one time, i believe that art could also be meritocratic. does not matter if he's out the promotional, marketing, selling out and conseguently flipping on the bay thing.
all my devotion to his genius, genuine, beautiful art.
hope it did not sound rude, but it was getting kinda ridicolous imo, and im sure i can talk with you all saying exactly what i think, even with my lame english. take it easy.

A true creative that embodies the environment rather than simply putting up a pretty picture that would work on any other medium (hmmm is this a dig @ other artists?). A consequence of this is that his "gallery work" can never capture what he puts out on the streets. From my impression, he doesn't give a crap because thats how its supposed to be. Unfortunately, I see the opposite from a lot of so called "street" artists. Make a pretty picture (or not so pretty) @home then merely putting it on a street wall and calling it street art.
