JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by Philpenn on Jul 20, 2016 13:03:44 GMT 1, One time I had Zenga, or whatever this sociopath's name is, on my cell (somehow) and the shipping service he claimed to be using on my office phone. He was attempting to rip me off on a 4FT. He'd tell me it was stuck at the shipping place, then the shipping place would tell me they were standing in their warehouse and in no way could be not seeing a refrigerator sized box. I'd straight up tell JZ I knew he was lying, and he'd just ramble for five straight minutes denying it.
Long story short: If you're transaction is starting to seem off and the replies just get longer and longer but still don't answer anything, you're dealing with Zenga.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by johngoff101 on Jul 27, 2016 22:59:44 GMT 1, Reign, sorry to hear this happened to you. I almost gotten taken in by AAB in a big way and feel deeply for you. I feel Bakerdave67's same sentiment and though I can't offer cash to help confront this a*hole, I would be psyched to send you something from the catalog of prints I've published, if you forwarded my your address in a PM. I'm again sorry for this situation and for all of those that have been taken in by this parasite. Really puts a bad taste in the mouths of everyone which is unfortunate since there are so many kind and generous folks on here. I hope, at some point, that there is a silver lining to your story and the many others with similar experiences but sadly, for now it's a pretty bad spot.

No grand conspiracy, he was incredibly friendly, helpful, and immediately replied to all of my communication. I'm not surprised he's been pulling scams for years, as our communications didn't raise any of the red flags I've come to look out for. Thats until he didn't send the print that is, and I saw this thread to my great horror. My situation was a little different as the prints I purchased were from the new Kaws "Mans Best Friend" set, which in retrospect was a little masterwork of fraud on his part because he attributed the delay to Pace, and it took much longer for me to realize he had no intention of sending the prints.
I'd ask that you contact me directly before insinuating that I may have had something to do with this scam. I'm currently fighting my CC company for the $6500 he stole from me. I take my reputation very seriously, and have had wonderful dealings with many members on this forum.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by Howard Johnson on Jul 28, 2016 17:23:19 GMT 1, Do you not think it was a bit irresponsible to vouch for someone with which you had not actually completed a deal? In hindsight maybe, but I choose my words carefully to highlight that he was a friendly seller without including phrases such as "buy with confidence" or "trustworthy" which was a conscious thought process that I underwent when making that comment. Does that make a difference? Probably not, and if anyone relied on my representations I would like to make a sincere apology. Call it overeagerness to be positive, and I certainly won't make that mistake again. I got scammed too, and I don't think my admittedly naive attempts to be positive about a member who had genuinely been a pleasure to deal with at that point should be the target of scorn.

I'm not going to get into all the details of the transaction, but the price agreed upon was "at cost" when we made the deal, as we both didn't know the price of the set and I was to pay any difference upon receipt of the prints. He provided evidence that he had purchased the last few pace releases and seemed genuinely trustworthy. My comment may have been rash, but lets not forget there were multiple members who posted in the "good dealings" thread including older members. PP didn't make a difference with me as my CC offers buyer protection, and he didn't suggest bank transfer.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by mla on Jul 28, 2016 17:37:23 GMT 1, I don't think you chose your words carefully at all. Let's review:
"Darkcity has been a stand up guy during the transactions I've had with him."
This statement implies:
(a) You have had two or more transactions with darkcity (b) These transactions were successful (c) darkcity is an honest and straightforward man of good character (the textbook definition of "stand up guy")
Obviously, I'm not putting the blame on you, as everyone should do their due diligence, but statements from longstanding and respected members can go a long way in giving potential buyers confidence over a potential transaction and may cause them to act in ways they otherwise wouldn't.
Glad to hear that you will not make the same mistake again.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by Howard Johnson on Jul 28, 2016 18:04:01 GMT 1, mla thank you for adding insult to injury. Glad there are vigilant members like you to chastise someone who was ripped off. You are clearly putting blame on me, and I don't believe its appropriate. 1. We did have multiple transactions, and he purchased prints from me with no issues, 2. Until this thread I didn't have any reason to believe the kaws transaction would be unsuccessful, 3. At the time of my posting he was strait forward and had acted in manner implying good character.
I'm a new member here myself, and have had wonderful transactions with new and old members alike. For new members, I try and put in a good word where I can because I know how hard it is trying to become part of this often abrasive community. That will obviously change for here on out, but I don't think I should be lectured for trying to be friendly when, just like the other members who made nice comments about him, I had no reason to believe he was fraudulent.

I've said before that taking up references is important, but it isn't fail safe. Members should see taking up references as only part of their due diligence, dependant on cost. Members should not be chastised for giving a good reference in good faith, based on their own experiences. That said, I would only give a reference for someone with whom I've completed a successful deal. I am often asked for references. I shall stop giving them if I feel that I might be criticised for what I have said based only on my experience of a seller. As others have said, a common modus operandi for a nefarious seller is to build up a reputation by doing good small scale transactions before stinging someone with a high end one. I've seen this on eBay too. The best protection, unless you have complete trust in the seller, is only to buy in a manner whereby you can get your money back if the item is fake or never materialises , imo. References give only some peace of mind.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by pfffffffffft on Jul 28, 2016 20:46:56 GMT 1, I also got burned on a companion from Zenga years ago. He stretched it out for a long time before I realized I was never going to get anything. I think at some point we were all asked to write to Kaws if we had been ripped off by this but I never heard anything back.
Can't believe this arse is still around.

I've asked buyers in the past this and even for bank transfers. If they're not happy then that's fine. But as a seller there's also a risk that the buyer is dodgy and will claim the tube was empty or the print ripped etc. So it works both ways.

But as a seller there's also a risk that the buyer is dodgy and will claim the tube was empty or the print ripped etc. So it works both ways.

It's a big risk for a seller if a buyer is dodgy.
Some buyers do use Paypal like some sort of buy on approval.

I am happy to declare whatever the buyer wants (within reason) on the customs form and I have never scammed anyone in my life.

I understand the former, but not the latter. I am happy to declare whatever the buyer wants (within reason) on the customs form and I have never scammed anyone in my life. One reason is that if a low value is put on a customs form. It's a form of VAT tax avoidance or import duty tax avoidance.
Another reason is if for example someone agrees to have a value of say 300 on the shipping form when the real value is 3000 and when they get the artwork it turns out to be fake or something else.
How are they going to say they were ripped off for 3000 when the declared value of the item was 300?

Not sure where you are going with your second point but in that scenario, I'd point to my payment for 3000, rather than anything on the packaging itself.
Under your logic, someone could buy a print for 3000 and I send them a 10 dollar dildo and they are now s**t out of luck because the customs form states that it is a 10 dollar dildo? I don't think so.

I don't think so. My logic is if someone signed for a package with a declared value of 300 rather than 3000. It could give the person who ripped them off an excuse to not be prosecuted as the declared value is very low.
That fact that 3000 was sent to the seller. The buyer would need all the correspondence with the seller and proof of what they actually sent the money for. Such as the seller confirming they are selling the buyer an authentic print etc.
Unfortunately the police don't tend to take this type of crime seriously.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by Deleted on Aug 1, 2016 12:47:01 GMT 1, No grand conspiracy, he was incredibly friendly, helpful, and immediately replied to all of my communication. No I will contact you directly this is a open forum. The only person insinuating is you. It was just a question.

JASON ZENGA - Kaws Running Chum Silkscreen Set - darkcity, by warholsdream on Sept 12, 2016 9:50:55 GMT 1, This all sounds like a nightmare. Wankers should be deleted from the forum for a period of time or for good. This kinda shit is childish ebay crap, stuff I would not expect on this trusted forum. 1 strike and your out, if it is bought to the forum. Wanna rip people off go to ebay and yes the onus needs to fall to the buyer to research and checkout details of the seller and never bank transfer (unless the seller is known) but if a person is known to us as members to be fraudulent I believe boot them.
