Robert Del Naja π¬π§ 3D β’ Street Artist β’ Massive Attack , by jimbofatz on Aug 3, 2018 18:59:50 GMT 1, Do you not wonder, if del Naja genuinely was Banksy, then why haven't all of his 3D pieces, once on POW and now on eBay, along with those still available at other sources, been bought, by those who are in the know? Surely they'd make a great investment at the prices they're available for. That's such a good point, and basically all the evidence needed. In the same way that some people just "knew" to start queuing for Banksy prints, those people would be buying up 3D... And they're not.
Apparently you are not familiar with price fixing in the art world (it pretty much runs the art world). The point of this thread when I started it was to show how on and off sales of these editions have been over 14 YEARS. Look at that last benefit show where the 3D unsigned palestine posters sold out instantly at the merch table and were quickly flipped for 10x on ebay. Do you not think 3D could have taken these sitting POW prints out on tour and sold them instantly over 14 years?
If the ebay Palestine poster sold so quickly why are we constantly seeing the same prints that are signed go unsold? .....because the auction gets cancelled. The prices are fixed so people like happy shopper go 'that's all the evidence I needed' and move along. Or better yet people who think along the lines of "well this must not be a banksy because its so cheap" legit post a print for cost....further cementing that these things aren't worth much.
LAZ's 3D stuff is always "request for price"...its in his court to let a print or OG go for what price --whenever he chooses-- and to whoever --he has control of the market.

A queue formed outside Pictures on Walls before any formal announcement... Choose your Weapon, and I think maybe some other releases that were done that way.
Gotcha.
In relationship to the discussion I would say knowing a print is coming vs knowing his identity are like 10 levels of magnitude away from each other. That would explain the lack of action on 3d prints.

The whole point of why I actually started this thread was to track the history of this edition and the price fixing.

Possibly because they were sold cheap on POW just as rumours were spreading, and someone (or a few people) bought a ton of them to flip?

Because my mate that got it for me mentioned how I got into the Art and I guess the conversation evolved.
If you're still in a position where you and your mates are out punishing artists (AKA asking for autographs/selfies) as the saying goes -- everything you say is at least 2nd hand information. So just don't be so quick to judge someone else's opinion. This is not a personal attack I'm just saying this board has a serious case of broken telephone going on.
Punishing ?? My mate was working on the Bristol festival with them last year. How has a light hearted response from me been flipped around??

Robert Del Naja π¬π§ 3D β’ Street Artist β’ Massive Attack , by mrpotatohead on Aug 4, 2018 6:26:54 GMT 1, This is always an interesting discussion. I think there are some long time residences of this forum that know who Banksy is (or also highly likely which individuals comprise βBanksyβ). Some have probably already chimed in while others will always remain silent. If youβre trying to pick a horse and pump that horse for value speculation, then itβs near and dear to anyoneβs heart to defend their thesis... if you purely just look at the art of Banksy for standalone purposes then it really doesnβt matter who is under the mask because as many have pointed out, the Banksy pieces that already trade for large sums are still the works that will be of the most significance in the art history books and auction houses. Personally I buy art and appreciate this forum because a lot of us share great views, tastes, and commentary on artists... maybe my kids find a gem in my collection one day that benefits them... maybe they just call me a hoarder (more than likely)... but hopefully theyβll always enjoy our walls and appreciate a little culture and legacy along the way. I think 3D is a great artist in his own right... not only on paper, but also musically which is likely his focal craft. Heβs also very socially/politically charged and has those types of initiaitives going as well. His fine art pieces arenβt necessarily for me but to each his own... thatβs art! However, several of his prints sat at Laz for the same amount of time as on POW until earlier this year when more speculation started brewing. My main issue... itβs difficult enough for someone to be a master of one craft let alone several diverse ones. Banksy uses numerous mediums quite efficiently/masterfully including oils and sculpture... and now heβs also apparently a huge musician that has time to practice that art form as well. Maybe 3D is a secret da Vinci (in the renaissance man context) of our era, but I think itβs easier to believe that he is not given the number of hours in a day. I donβt have a dog in the hunt, but just another thought to add.

"Punishing" or "I just got punished" is a term used by artists when fans or people who recognize them get them tied into conversations about how great they are or people asking for autographs or selfies. It is a light hearted term....for example it would be used "ahhh that person who was working the festival just punished me for 20 minutes about a story who's friend became an artist because of me and banksy...etc.". Basically the artist is forced to sit there and listen politely and sign things. It's a light hearted term I didn't mean harm.
Bottom line is you got gifted something special. Congratulations and don't sell it on. You do not however have some great serious confessional from him written along side of a fan autograph. Parody.

Parody would be some forum guy who thinks 3D is Banksy explaining an actual artist who has a hand written note by the forementioned artist stating he is not Banksy about terms used by artists.
Light hearted of course......

I gauge soon there will be no more available, and then maybe we will finally find out.
In reality everyone loves to talk endlessly but no one has a f*cking clue.

Not even the Rupert the Bear picture disc? Knackers... I was counting on that investment.

This is actually a pretty interesting point/scenario and worth a mention. In music when a group splits and members go solo...absolutely 9 out of 10 times its a disaster. But in the art world it works in the complete opposite way. Usually its a scene and when a leader of a movement/project or a member gets singled out....it becomes a rocket ship to the moon. The fine art blue chip world rarely elevates groups it doesn't fit the set in stone fine art mold of A singular genius. This is why there were no mentions of crews or groups in exit through the gift shop even though crews are predominate in the sub culture of street art. You always have to elevate A singular artist in the fine art world that is attached to a movement/project/movie etc. So once banksy splits/is revealed logic would tell you someone is going to get the push...
Not all banksy's are created equal hopefully you at very least got a Ringo because there's been a lot more than 4 people involved.

Robert Del Naja π¬π§ 3D β’ Street Artist β’ Massive Attack , by Rouen Cathedral on Aug 5, 2018 22:51:49 GMT 1, Like how many? And who are they? Fellow artists? Do you expect Ben Eine to be buying 3D prints off eBay or something? The point you made doesn't really make sense. I do hope you're just trolling... The point is easy to understand.
The point that those in the know aren't buying 3D prints? Honestly I'm not sure what substance there is to that 'point'.
A similar point would be Banksy isnt a great artist because if his works we're really timeless treasures of the art world people would be buying them whenever available. But look banksy prints are available to anyone who wants one. π€π€π€π€
I am interested in you explaining how many people actually know and who they are? Wouldn't those that know not want his identity exposed? If it never gets exposed then why would they buy 3d prints?
Like I said your point isnt thinking any of it through. If it's a shot of a comment from the hip that's fine but to say it's the deciding fact that 3D isn't banksy is terrible conclusion drawing. That's my point in this discussion. Everyone overthibkibg the flaws in Jimbo conclusion yet the 3d isn't banksy argument with no evidence or thoughtful comments is just expected to hold true and be accepted as fact...

Can you stop harassing every post I make. Please. I've tried to thoughtfully explain my point in the thread so I don't understand the need to just call me a troll. Why from a forum gaurdian?

Stoners ? More like writing a world changing text, while off your face on LSD... only to 'wake up' and realise you've spent 8 hours writing your name in your own piss and shit.

Not this, but on one journey a 'friend' did once wake up with neon footprints all over his bedroom ceiling and walls and surrounded by half smoked joints that were rolled with Β£5 notes.

Your "point" makes no valid points.
Just for the sake of clarity... It doesn't matter how many people know 3D is Banksy! If it was true, and just 1 person knew, they'd be buying up all the couple of hundred pound 3D prints because Banksy prints sell for Β£30000 or more! It's very simple and logical
I'm starting to wonder if this whole thread is just a way to attract attention to certain eBay listings.
