Hi everyone!
Bergen based street artist Skurk releases a diptych photopolymer gravure etching from an original stencil and charcoal drawing made for Reed Projects. This will be Skurks first international available work. The etchings will be sold seperatly.
The motif originates from a street piece Skurk made in Bergen. There will be available two motifs of a ballerina dancing in a light bulb named Marion and Madelein. The motifs are named after the daughters to the inventor of the modern incandescent lamp, Thomas Alva Edison.
Skurk chose the photopolymer technique to get the exact look and feel he was after. Photopolymer is a time consuming technique which gives a photo realistic result. A relief is smeared with, in this case, a oil based ink which gets pressed against the paper. This is a delicate process and every etching gets a little bit different.
This is a technique also used by renowned artist like Conor Harrington.
The etchings will be available tomorrow on 1st. October 11:00 A.M CEST (10 A.M London / 5 A.M New York) online at
