Best snoopy print yet IMO, and I'm glad he's keeping the edition size low. That being said, he should really slow down these releases, he's kept his print output laudably low throughout his career and these constant pace editions could backfire by flooding the market.

It's Kaws, just sell some body parts!!

His work is starting to look redundant. No interest at all even if this was half the price that its going to cost. Seems like Kaws is not trying anymore. Just same images. Shame.

My favourite thing I've seen of his as of late is that private print set. Other than that, meh.

My guess is that it might be even more. Small edition, largest print to date and by the looks of it, a lot more colors. Whatever the price, it's out of my range.

I'll say minimum $7,000 first tier but I'm more inclined to think it's $8,000.

My money is on 10k starting and tier up to 12.5 with every 10 sold.

Just the sheer size of print 40x60" and the edition size of 50 would easily warrant a 10K starting point.

Demand is obviously high considering he's become one of the most popular living artists over the past few years. That being said, my point was more toward the longevity of that demand and restrained growth of his market. Obviously, Kaws profits from these editions in the short term, but I'd argue they arguably threaten the sustainability of his market, specifically the market for his multiples.

Looking at the numbers, the increase is striking: He has released 3000 prints in 2015-2016 (not including this edition), and he released approximately 2500 prints from 1997-2014. I.e. he more the doubled the supply of prints in a two year period. Up until this point, the prices for his multiples has grown at a steady but noteworthy pace, and I think a major factor in that is the relative scarcity of his work. However, in the past few years his work is popping up all over the place, sometimes with little to no markup (i.e. the snoopy set listed on eBay for cost). His prints are no longer exclusive, as anyone with 5k can get on the Pace mailing list and grab themselves a kaws.

the question is why? He clearly doesn't need the money, and he has exercised great restraint by limiting his prints throughout his entire career. Its not like these are for the "fans" as the majority of his collectors were priced out as soon as he started working exclusively with Pace. IMO the recent surge in his print output will hurt his overall print market, whether its by the end of the year or in the next 5, there simply has to be a tipping point.
