Normal Shipping Time for purchase.., by redman440 on Oct 14, 2016 18:57:52 GMT 1, I was curios what is a normal time to allow for a Artist or Gallery to ship your purchase. I am new to urban art and have bought several items both from Gallery and direct from Artist. I must say I am surprised at the poor delivery times and lack of communication with some transactions..
Not sure if this is the normal but I have been in retail and have had my own business. I think that if you purchase a item it should ship in a day or two. Or advise if there will be a delay, your out of town etc.
Is that wrong. What I find is when dealing with the artist's they take 4-12 weeks some longer. I find this to be a little excessive. Am I wrong for feeling that way and there is some unwritten rule that its ok to delay the shipment until you get too it. Or even better to say I will ship it and then miss you your ship date only to repeat that the same statement again. It really takes away from the excitement of the purchase..
I work hard for my money and like to support the artists directly but I just feel there has to be some accountability. Its not good business in my eyes.. Rant over..

Is the piece up for display at an exhibition? I purchased a canvas in August, but have to wait until Nov after an exhibit finishes

Is the piece up for display at an exhibition? I purchased a canvas in August, but have to wait until Nov after an exhibit finishes No, these were bought off their website. I also would not care if those were the terms or I knew when I purchased. But the ones I am referring too were of the artists website.
I can even wait if they respond and say I am out of town, Have another job etc. But I click the buy it now and pay. I wait 4-6 weeks since I am in the USA if they are from another country. Then I inquire about the purchase. In some cases it takes a week to respond then I get sorry we will ship in a day or too.
Then in 2 cases another 2-4 weeks pass and the same thing again. I just find it hard to believe this is normal but it has happened a few times. I just find it hard to accept its normal to have 8-12 weeks for shipping time..lol Unless agreed upon when purchase is made. I did not commission a print. lol

Seems fishy.. I would probably initiate a chargeback at that poiny, but thats just me

Normal Shipping Time for purchase.., by Bazaaart on Oct 14, 2016 20:40:40 GMT 1, Yes seems a little shady, some things that might cause delays are if they were limited edition prints and the prints were not all printed yet and/or if the artist still needed to sign and number them....

Normal Shipping Time for purchase.., by redman440 on Oct 14, 2016 21:08:01 GMT 1, I have been lucky so far and had only 1 transaction I had to cancel which I didn't loose money. That was actually a gallery. But I only ask since it seems to be a common thing. At least for me.lol I want to believe that its just a oversight but It is frustrating. The funny thing is 2 of the longer ones are active on this forum. I haven't seen anything negative on them and don't want to be the first. But to my knowledge I bought a finished piece.
I was also told it will ship that it was an oversight. So I am hoping for the best.
As I said before I am new to this but it does take the fun out of the hobby. I sell off my own website and ebay part time. I know that in most cases if they don't receive a shipping confirmation in 2-3 days I get a email or call.
Of course this always seems to happen to the piece that I am most excited about.lol So maybe my excitement causes my frustration or impatience waiting..

Normal Shipping Time for purchase.., by Dive Jedi on Oct 14, 2016 21:25:43 GMT 1, I can relate. I'm also used to ship the same or next day when I sell something. But in general dealing with artist you need to have some patience. Usually very friendly people, but they didn't become artists to deal with deadlines, I guess. So I would just contact them and ask the status, just as a reminder.
Galleries is another matter. Those are businesses, so they should ship within a few days. I usually pay with Paypal and I just make a claim if it takes too long. That usually helps. Just put a comment it takes too long and you are looking forward to it.
Maybe you just had a bit of an unlucky start. In general everything works out in the end.

Normal Shipping Time for purchase.., by oxfordwelshchap on Oct 15, 2016 10:35:39 GMT 1, It's funny I just came across this thread. I am still waiting for my POSE print. Was shipped like two weeks ago. Just got off the phone from Parcelforce. They tell me they have no idea when it will be delivered and can't give me any info other than it can be held for up to 30 days.
Think this is is the last time I buy from anyone who uses parcelforce or USPS as the carrier. Beware of these carriers!!

It will be held for about a week, longer if they need to open it up to check if it has no customs form on.
There is a whole thread on it somewhere. You can claim 15% of the vat back as they will charge you 20% plus admin fees. Artwork is only due 5% but they never recognise it. Its a long claim process as well
companies like ups, tnt and fedex you can just email and its sorted. They all deliver before charging you. Not parcelforce though.

Normal Shipping Time for purchase.., by Deleted on Oct 15, 2016 11:27:46 GMT 1,
There was a delay in sending out some prints and I emailed people with updates.
The printer went on holiday and did not get to printing the prints straight away when he got back. I also moved in september and the move took longer than I wanted in order to get re organised at the new place.
The prints are hand finished and some have been sent out. The others being sent this coming week.
Plus I have included something extra in the tube to make up for the slight delay.
I do get behind with stuff sometimes but i'm reliable and get there in the end.
For the draw for the original paintings I will set a date and make the draw on that date.
