The fact is Kaws could of just sold the figures at the museum only. The decision to open sales up via the web at the museum's website was a marketing play to bring free publicity to the show. If they didn't care about PRing the show, he could of sold them on the Kaws site which was built for these type of releases. Which I'm sure will come eventually. 

A lot of artists that would kill for the free PR Kaws has received during this 1st round of sales. There is no bad publicity in regards to an open edition. In the end there will be more. If it was a limited edition, this type of PR would be bad.

There will always be flippers, because there will always be people who have to have it now or people who will pay more just because they can afford to have someone else do all the dirty work.

I didn't get a picture. But I do remember thinking it was HUGE!

I'm still waiting for my confirmation to check out. Was hoping I would be in batch 1 or 2. Guess I'm somewhere down the line. Keeping my fingers crossed. Even if my order goes thru, I need a Black Flayed and Brown Colorway. I have Gray Flayed and Colorway and Brown Flayed for trade in hand right now.

Just noticed that the pending charge for my order is no longer showing up. This would be extremely dissapointing if they will not honor my order even after going through the process of using the link they sent me to check out.

All looks way too much hassle for an open edition toy. Surely let it all die down and pick one up in a few weeks/months.

There has to be a place to buy the toy and I am not sure why the museum took down the kaws section.
Hopefully it will re appear and everyone will be able to order what they like. It would certainly make sense for them to do so. There is a ton of money for them to make.

With something like this, I would also agree with you in expecting that he'll probably have some to drop on his website.  hopefully he'll indicate this after the museum debacle is taken care of.  I'm hoping for an announcement from him either tomorrow or thursday with details of an upcoming kawsone drop.

Kaws Companion: They canceld again all second and third...orders. Batch 6 will be mailed the next hours. Only orders received by the system prior to 11:30 AM CDT the morning of October 20th would have been allocated inventory as all items had sold out after that time.

Actually I dont know definitely when my first order was submitted due the site crashes, but I kept in my mind something before 11h. But I guess all items I choose are sold know. 😣 Next time 🤓

as much of a shitshow as the online release was (due to site issues).... i commend the modern FW for handling this in such a tremendous way after the fact.  they did a great job pulling the site and manually going through all the attempted orders (weeding out duplicates) and processing inventory in a fair, orderly process.  i bet it must have taken a lot of effort to handle such an endeavor.  while obviously not ideal, they handled it well once they saw the site was overwhelmed.
