I have not bought any of his work purely because of this. Why are they there?! I suppose they're viewed more as merchandise than 'fine art'. But as his practise largely revolves around blurring the boundaries between the two that's not necessarily a bad thing. Wouldn't surprise me if even his megabucks blue chip work has little Kaikai Kiki copyright notices on them somewhere

This was a neat release and all but in my humble opinion it's been grossly overhyped, specifically by the infamous trust fund kids that plague IG. You guys know the ones, 10k followings and just collect expensive popular things because of hype. I'm already sick of seeing these honestly, even though I do consider myself a Murakami fan. Lol I could've bought these when they were for preorder back during complex con but opted for clothing instead.  Mmhhhhhhhh, to each his own I guess ;-)

In Japan, arrived today. The tracking number was for some Chinese site, with delivery sourced from Shenzhen.

That's unfortunate about the staining. Both of my have some slight discoloration in the white of the spiral on the small sphere jutting out to the side/bottom. But that's it, and it's not really big or noticeable.
Were they advertised as soft vinyl? I don't really remember at this point. I love what they're made out of - love the weight that goes along with the material.
Just have to figure out where the hell to display them now...
