New Edition from DRAN, by chads007 on Dec 24, 2016 13:56:05 GMT 1, Hi all, to get back about art and the work of dran, i must say that i love the image. To speak the truth i loved it since the bookmark was made. You can see on the picture that the bookmark was damaged by a tear of the person it was given to. So i'm sure dran has found this work interesting enough to paint it again. (As dran has done on countless time in the past) Dr.Plip expressed a nice thought about the image. I would like to add all the sadness of loosing the childish thoughts, dreams and expectations as you grow. I would add that the duality / bi-polarity into dran as an artist is also very well represented into this work. Even suicide and death thoughts are present in here IMO. A bunchfull of emotions...that's it !!! Into my eyes (but i may be biased as i'm a dran's collector and fan) this is a very good image and i hope that giclee will give the deepness of the watercolours firstly used. As previously stated it's quite huge and the framing must be carefully thought to give the most of this nice image. As a long dran collector i don't see any bad to get the chance of buying the print without the assle of an F5 drop. I think it's respectfull for the people getting really interested into an artist work having the possibility to do so. Aside of this i found it quite expensive, especially for a not wealthy collector like me ! It's difficult for people like a lot of us to keep enjoying our passion when prints reached so high price. I suppose those prices have been based due to the very low edition and the huge size. Anyway i'm in and mine is not for sale. I'm really looking forward getting it framed nicely. I hope everyone can understand the meening of my thoughts with my broken english. That's why i don't post much in here...simply because i can't express my emotions as i wanted to if it's not my native language. dran expresses it with his art ! and he's a f**kinggenious !!!! Anyhow i wish you all mery xmass and the best for your collection in 2017 ! With love
Agree, and well put

New Edition from DRAN, by Poster Bob on Dec 24, 2016 13:56:36 GMT 1, SOLD. NO MORE MESSAGES PLEASE. Time to book my flight to Thailand for the family with the profits. lol you're such a wind up merchant PB, but it does brighten up my day. For those of you asking what the sale price was, please ignore him, it's much easier than seeing you all take the bait every time. I can't wait. Here's a good one of me last year. Daniel Arsham paid for that one:

I think the bitterness on here for people not offered the chance to buy Means time to slag it off
Usual antics
I think it's a nice size / edition not sure on how peeps will display it though So interested to see framing options for a change

New Edition from DRAN, by Viking Surfer on Jan 2, 2017 23:35:01 GMT 1, I was offered one by the gallery and in the end decided to pass.
I really love the work, but after factoring in quality framing costs, space and other artworks I already have that aren't on the wall, I decided to save myself a grand (possibly two after framing).
Instead I bought about 12 mini prints from Dran's Paris stall Through a contact, I managed to get quite a few of my favourites from there and have no qualms about getting lovely frames for them.
For all those that bought the Dran #33 release, it's a quality pick up and you'll enjoy it very much. Good job.

New Edition from DRAN, by Daniel Silk on Jan 3, 2017 2:26:16 GMT 1, Dran does some nice and clever images, but sorry absolutely none of them would ever make it up on to my walls. They just don't feel like the type of art that I would ever want to look at on a daily basis dull and depressing.

I saw some pics of the stall and mini prints, definitely looked pretty cool. Do you happen to know much about them? Were they signed, open edition, giclee?

New Edition from DRAN, by pippyt75 on Jan 6, 2017 3:04:43 GMT 1, Would love to know how folk are thinking of framing these... To optimise the diptych effect was thinking of going no mount, framed to the edges so the images can be closer together. I've said it before and I'll say it again - haters is haters but this is the best print of 2016 in my very humble opinion!

I presume the edition was 'timed' as in only available for the time that Dran's friend ran the stall in Paris.

New Edition from DRAN, by microfluo on Jan 8, 2017 14:13:54 GMT 1, Indeed but... saying "long time Dran collector" and adding "not wealthy collector" is a paradox to me. Dran's limited prints (the very few he did) and originals have always been pricey and highly sought the day he landed at POV. Before that time, in a relatively unknown gallery in Toulouse, originals were 1,200-1,400 euros max and limited prints were cheap (... And also, let's not forget Brushstroke75 who sold lot of original doodles for 75 USD few months after POV hype. This said, I totally agree with Microfluo, people buying just for the sake of it or making huge profit is wrong but 4-5 stars people who bought the Dran doodle at 75 usd and reselling it at 1,000-1,500 USD will tell you the contrary or actually don't care ! Then things went crazy, prices for Dran are crazy. Last bargain was Pure Evil selling an old stock of giclee prints. Someone who buy unlimited unsigned poor quality giclee prints from Dran is a fan not an art collector I see also the all depressing stuff and dark humor in Dran but French don't mind this; let's not forget that Franquin was also very depressed person and his book "Idee Noire" is one of the most famous French comic book (I am sure Dran is a big fan of Franquin, Shoot Again ). Being depressed help to have or show emotions and draw characters with human feelings. FRENCH TRIBUTE * Big respect to Franquin, the best ever ** RIP Gotlib who died recently, the second best ever By the way you forget to mention Vuillemin
And that's right, i'm "rich" to have the privilege waking up every morning looking at the dran pieces gathered. Some are dark, some are bright...some are black, some are colored...some are engaged, some are "released"...some are sad, some are fun...because real life is not only made with rainbows !
dran share is own daily life through his drawings and paintings. And it seems like his life was not a long, quiet river...so to say the least. Sounds to me like it must be like a daily struggle for dran to find his place and to understand the so-called neurotypical. Let's call it bi-polarity, Aspie maybe both or whatsoever (i dounno and i'm not a psy)...but he's clearly "different" ! And IMO that's the reason his paintings are so special..
And a sure point is : you may love dran work or you may hate it, but it leaves no one indifferent.
I'm really excited to get the tube because for an unknow reason i can feel the bunchfull of emotions into it. Also i'm lost about framing...it will be great to discuss it with my framer as he felt in love with dran work since i offered him a book of dran. I'm sure something nice will come out from our exchanges on R3FL3T.
Cheers all and looking forward to get the print. It must land soon
