I reckon a few, Andy. But it's a hugely strong squad whoever plays.

Six Nations Rugby, by pking1601 on Feb 24, 2017 11:43:36 GMT 1, I think England will win by 40 with definite try bonus point.
Scotland had to translate the form showed by Glasgow onto the international stage. That said, with so many injuries to key players, their strength in depth is worrying. Although Tim Visser is a great winger/finisher but then I cant understand why they dropped Maitland altogether? So as much as I would like to see them win, Wales might prevail. But Scotland's time will come in next few seasons. Lots of potential British Lions in that squad now, which hasn't been the case on recent tours. That 2nd Row for the Lions is gonna be special. The Gray brothers, England's lot.
Most fascinating game is Ireland v France France may overpower Ireland. I was at Twickenham for the French game. They might not be the most mobile (although they have made some changes for this match ) but the French are enormous, all over the field, so I expect those big French lumps to go after Sexton from the kick off. That back row of Ireland though are world class. O'Brien and Stander as absolute certs for the Lions.

Should have predicted this with the form of both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Come on the Scots for the title. I'm behind you now!

Six Nations Rugby, by Hubble Bubble on Feb 25, 2017 20:44:12 GMT 1, Wow... eat my words. Sensational win from Scotland and a great performance. Watson and Russell were outstanding. The Gray brothers, Visser and Hogg not far behind. Truly deserved. I think George North might just have lost his place on the Lions Tour bus.
I'm also becoming increasingly concerned about AWJ's captaincy. Not that it bothers me in a Welsh context but that's twice now, under pressure, that he's chosen big points where three points to steady the ship was needed. Each time he's come up short and Wales have ultimately lost both games. I seem to remember Robshaw doing this once and being pilloried for it, especially by the Welsh who called him 'arrogant' for going for the corner. Anyway... what do we think?
Also watched the Ireland game and thought France put up a good show but felt Ireland, from the end of the first half, were always pretty comfortable.
@oxfordwelshchap - I find it surprising you're not cheering for England
Ok... England tomorrow. Early dip in the Caribbean Sea, breakfast, then down to the beach bar for a late morning match and Sunday beers.
Wish you were here.

Just in from long day in pub, well done Hubble for eating some humble "scotch" pie
Second half from Scotland was immense, to think Hamish Watson was a hospitality escort at Murrayfield a few years ago at Scotland games. He was unlucky not to start in 6 nations after his performances in autumn internationals.

Six Nations Rugby, by Hubble Bubble on Feb 27, 2017 3:09:48 GMT 1, Well, that was very odd. Now it's all over I'm pretty pleased with a bonus point win. Not quite the game anyone was expecting but fair play to Italy - it's not their job to roll over for the bigger teams.
Anyway! On to the next round. Standout game for me is Ireland v Wales, followed by England v Scotland.
Had to give up my tickets for England game as it's my sister In law's 50th and I'm on a three line whip to attend.
FFS!

Shame on us for taking so long to adapt ... More worried about the Irish than the Scots. Sexton in particular is on fire right now.

Saying that Wales have been dreadful this six nations so many don't deserve a place in the lions.

Yes it has done in the past but in the past the Welsh players were the form players, not so sure if that could be said this time around.
Personally i liked the make up of the 1997 side which was a fairly even mix of all nations but i was spawny enough to attend the first two tests that year so im a bit biased

Six Nations Rugby, by Deleted on Feb 27, 2017 21:50:19 GMT 1, I just got spawny. I finished a contract in saudi arabia and instead of coming home i decided at the last minute to go home via SA for 8 days taking in cape town and durban tests. I ended up in the hotel bar with the Lions team after the second test, like i said spawny, shared few beers with John Bentley and Rob Wainwright amongst many others. Was a very long flight home the next day.

England were ruthless and brilliant however. Next weekend will be really interesting. I think England will sneak it 22-12 would be my prediction. I think it would be fair to say that anybody that played England after the Italy fiasco would have been on the end of a sustained barrage of pressure right from the off. Scotland did not help themselves with their start and for once England got off to a flier - maybe the two are linked! I have not been overly impressed with this Scottish team, but was surprised at the level of the hammering.
Next week will indeed be very interesting. Back-to-back grand slams and a record-breaking 19 consecutive wins - perfect motivation, if any was needed, for the Irish to spoil our party and have their own on St. Patrick's day. Should be a hell of a battle, I think though that England will be too strong and I hope that reflects in a wider margin than you predict, otherwise my nerves will be shredded
The positive spin on a defeat in Dublin, (or so I tell myself), is that the Championship had already been won, nobody has done back to back grand slams in the six nations era and it's best not to speak too soon before 2019

Six Nations Rugby, by Hubble Bubble on Mar 12, 2017 16:47:49 GMT 1, Great win yesterday for England. Their all court game was just too much for the Scots. Top game too on Friday night and a good win for Wales. And so I fly to Dublin on Friday for a St Patrick's Day session, followed by a few cleansing pints of guinness on the Saturday.
Oh... and yes... the little matter of a game.
Big ask though and I still make Ireland favourites for this. But I've been in Dublin the last two times we've played there and been turned over. Third time lucky?

Six Nations Rugby, by Deleted on Mar 12, 2017 16:57:03 GMT 1, Scotland did not help themselves with the madness in first 2 mins then losing Hogg then the others and we had a totally makeshift side in the end up BUT even at full strength throughout the game we could not have lived with England, maybe just a 30 point defecit....
Vern Cotter summed it up nicely by saying we have a long way to go and i dont think we'll have as many in the Lions squad as I bragged about two weeks ago Finn Russell reminds me of a poor mans Townsend, has all the magic but is always good for a key failure to find touch or throwing daft interceptions.
That said, we are improving and Cotter has done great work for us and hopefully Townsend will continue progress.
