Martin Whatson โข Behind the Curtain Print, by Winks on Mar 2, 2017 16:08:12 GMT 1, lol @ 5 min checkout time. this never works for me Checkout time doesn't exist any more - race to the finish only. edit: this applies to all shopify storefronts now - it's a shopify change, and has nothing to do with GP. It does when their email says;
N.B - Shopify - you have 5 minutes to check out, after you click add to cart you must click the RED CHECKOUT button on the page that comes next, if the prints are in your basket then you have been successful

Martin Whatson โข Behind the Curtain Print, by Art Fan 2011 on Mar 2, 2017 16:09:26 GMT 1, Wonder how many of the 175 were actually available today? Very disappointing to be told that a 5 min check out rule applies, had it in the bag, entered my details and it was gone as I tried to complete!

Martin Whatson โข Behind the Curtain Print, by I Woke in Relief on Mar 2, 2017 16:12:28 GMT 1, Quote from GP on email earlier ; N.B - Shopify - you have 5 minutes to check out, after you click add to cart you must click the RED CHECKOUT button on the page that comes next, if the prints are in your basket then you have been successful. Yeah, I know what they said. It's entirely possible they didn't even know about the change - this is their first drop they've had since it happened, and seeing other galleries' responses to the change over the last week, none of them seemed to be informed when it happened, they only became aware when their first drop-post-change happened and had people crying foul. Like here.
Or maybe they knew and got a kick out of lying to all of you.

Martin Whatson โข Behind the Curtain Print, by soulseeker on Mar 2, 2017 16:17:25 GMT 1, So it appears to be fastest first right to the very end of the purchase process unfortunately from my recent experiences with this online selling system. I have been right at the point of final payment (paypal), only to press the final payment button, and then be told the product has 'sold out'. It's an extremely frustrating purchase process as the buyer has false hope for longer! Personally, I preferred the 'if you can't cart it, you ain't got it' system

I feel your pain though, i usually get screwed on releases, too! but the checkout process went really smooth, only problem was locating the print on the page.
I'm used to the whole website just crashing from trying to buy some limited edition sneakers a couple of times...

if anyone wants to move one on - only UK/EU sellers please though, and "1 post wonders" need not apply!

Martin Whatson โข Behind the Curtain Print, by yorkie on Mar 2, 2017 17:02:58 GMT 1, GP are in my opinion cheats and liars .... I said it before and I will say it again (and this maybe to the detriment of artists that i really would like prints from but sell through GP) I WILL NEVER AGAIN TRY TO PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM.
They were shown to be dishonest keeping back prints from the release without full disclosure and everything that they have done on this is try to repair their damaged reputation with members of this forum.
I love the print but as soon as it was through GP - I ignored it.
Good luck and enjoy the print to all that were successful!
They get not one more penny of my money.
Yorkie
PS: I am actually in a happy mood as I will be flying to Europe tonight so this is not a complaint to them - I'm sure they care not one bit about me.... :-)
PPS: My playlist for the day will be going to the music thread and perhaps it will have a little influence from them!

Isn't it the practice of all artists/galleries to hold back a few of each edition to sell laterz. I'm pretty sure that his had been happening in the art world forever. Maybe I'm mistaken.

What I don't understand, is that they can't get their online shopping experience on point. How hard is it, to buy a decent working shoppingplatform?

Honestly, how many of the variants do you think were actually sold to lottery winner and how many do you think were given to Friends/Family/VIP's? My guess would be MAYBE 5 of the 25.

Martin Whatson โข Behind the Curtain Print, by urbart on Mar 2, 2017 17:48:04 GMT 1, I'm sure that everyone who was unsuccessful today accepts the fact that there will always be winners and losers on these occasions.
However, the underlying point being made is the fact that all 'participants' were informed by GP, by email, that, once in the basket, there was a 5 minute timeframe in which to complete the purchase when, in fact, this was clearly not the case. Therefore, having thought they had been successful, the realisation of then missing out only compounded the disappointment.
