Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Deleted on Mar 28, 2017 10:02:40 GMT 1, That is true. There are richs who are richs, and poors who are poors... I don't know any rich poor or poor rich ( unless he has won on betting , ahaha ).. Definition of rich is easy : to don't have some day to palpate your pockets or to return your cupboard to search an euro for the baguette, to live in a social location ( anyway I know some richs benefiting from the system ) , to have never took a plane, to don't have a car or driving licence, to only know the France or the close countries, to don't take holidays, etc etc... Definition of poor is easy too : to bet or not to bet. If you have money to bet, you are rich, if you have no money to bet, you are really poor and there is not hope. Everybody here should go one time in a racecourse : there the lords talk to the " beggars " and vice versa. There is no jealousy, for the winners, as for the loosers. Money has no importance, reread Bukowski ( rip ) . and f**kthe hyppocrit chips ! My conclusion is : you don't have to be hung-up to be rich, nor to be poor. you, we, are all welcome on this earth ! sorry for my idiot french I feel like someone should be collecting all of your posts on here. You could probably get them published. Royston's English lessons finally paying dividends

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Steph Rat Catcher on Mar 28, 2017 10:07:49 GMT 1, I don't agree and yes I'm ok, I think what you define as well off and what i define as well off are somewhat worlds apart, Yes i have booked and am looking at going to the walled off hotel, do i class myself as well off........ no. To me, well off is when you technically don't have to worry about money, i don't worry about money but i am very careful with it. I don't keep up with the jones, i don't burn money on lavish items like branded clothes or handbags, gold or cars, i could have credit cards but i don't, i spend only money i have earnt, apart from our mortgage we are debt free, never buy on the never never, and eat sensibly and well. I always buy sale items whenever possible, if i can't i often leave it. If we want to go to Palestine, i look at what the costs are and evaluate if its possible, yes it is going to cost money and i might need to watch things for a couple of weeks, not buying spontaneous bits, like not eating out (once every couple of weeks if we fancy it, sometimes not) the savings might get touched just for spending money but its a great experience and opportunity we would like to participate in. We don't spend for the sake of spending. Im not going to reveal our household income, but i can tell you this, i don't earn anywhere near some of the figures banded around on this forum, well below average household income. can i ask you @danielsilk , do you think I'm well off ? Do you think the people in Palestine think the foreigners visiting the Banksy Hotel are well off? How you judge "Well of" most likely depends on your own background and were you live. Many where I live don't have electricity, water supply, and their children roam the streets begging for food, and a really good wage is about £3 per day, so you and I would be classed as Rich. By forum standards we might be poor but world standards we are certainly well off or even rich! didn't know you lived in cornwall dan . Do you know crayon?

I'm with you on this one.
Have been puzzled by this piece (mind you I haven't been so no first hand experience). I don't see the intention in a Basquiat lookalike piece, nor the connection with the hotel.
I get the crucifixion resonates with the area but that's about it

Dan I do agree with some of what you say regarding backgrounds, with that in mind and based on your knowledge of what you personally class as someone who is rich and someone who is poor I am really surprised at your flippant use of the words "well off"
Not sure if it was by accident, but you have a smiley face in your statement.

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Daniel Silk on Mar 29, 2017 2:04:09 GMT 1, What do you think will actually happen to the hotel over the next year, 5 years, 10 years?
Do you think it's still gonna be open this time next year, and if so how long do you think it can still draw enough interest to get guests? If it did close, what will happen to the building and the art and the contents? Could the building be converted in the future into another project by Banksy?

When I read the name of the hotel - Walled off -, the first thing that came to mind was the Waldorf Astoria New York. Did anyone think the same?

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Dr Plip on Apr 5, 2017 17:21:05 GMT 1, If Banksy covered the entire partition wall with quality stencil art, do you think art wranglers would turn up and "rescue" the entire wall? Take it away to protect it from damage?
Trump should buy it.
Anyway, I look forward to a continued existence, with a chance to see more of the hotel, as and when others take that opportunity.
I sadly have to live vicariously through others more flighty than myself.
Much love though x

This thread is going days without mention. I was blasted for being critical about its exposure to those not able to visit and it be a negative to the work.
I was told it only just opened and to relax. It's now open and nothin new for days, no new information on local artists. Quite disappointing.

Shame right. Like I said. One of banksys biggest works yet no discussion. What's the deal?

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by vulva on Apr 5, 2017 18:37:47 GMT 1, If Banksy covered the entire partition wall with quality stencil art, do you think art wranglers would turn up and "rescue" the entire wall? Take it away to protect it from damage?
Trump should buy it.
Anyway, I look forward to a continued existence, with a chance to see more of the hotel, as and when others take that opportunity.
I sadly have to live vicariously through others more flighty than myself.
Much love though x
Oh brilliant idea! You are such a genius Dear Doctor. Let's cover the shit up in pure gold, and let the party begin.

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Deleted on Apr 5, 2017 18:48:00 GMT 1, 26 pages so far on this thread alone of "no one posting about it" This thread is going days without mention. I was blasted for being critical about its exposure to those not able to visit and it be a negative to the work. I was told it only just opened and to relax. It's now open and nothin new for days, no new information on local artists. Quite disappointing.
why?
