Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Lroy on Jul 8, 2019 19:12:52 GMT 1, There was a time not too long ago, the outlook was “we are all humans” and that there were no borders, and that “we all belonged”. Now with Trumpism, Brexitism, Nationalism, Facism, and many other isms, we are no longer as one, we have redrawn our borders and we only belong to our own. It’s not your fault, its the blame or your parents and grandparents, they are the haters, piss in their branflakes or sneak up behind them and make a loud noise. Get rid of them then we can live in hope again and make this a better world for our children.
“ Now with Trumpism, Brexitism, Nationalism, Facism, and many other isms “ You forgot LRoyism, Napoleon ! 🙏 👑

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by Easy-Z on Jul 17, 2019 23:29:09 GMT 1, Finalizing my trip plans. Looking for some more input from those who have been.
1 day : Arrival - Walking tour - Do stencils at the Wall Mart .
2 day : Bethlehem Tour ( CAN I walk this or do I need a guide and driver/ maybe with Alaa? ) to visit Nativity church , Old City , Milk grotto, Shepherd's Field , Herodion and Mar Saba Monastery , Banksy Art .
3 Day : Jericho Tour ( With Alaa ) to visit St. George Monastery , Hisham palace , Mt of Temptation , old City and Dead Sea.
4 day : check out from the Walled Off and take a Green Olive tour in Jerusalem ( the Green olive tour guide picks you up from the Walled Off Hotel ) . when you finish the tour , he leaves you in Jerusalem . ( you have the rest of the day to discover Jerusalem by your self ) where to stay?
5 day : DISCOVER JERUSALEM - Mt. of Olives , Mt. Zion , Temple Mount , Western Wall , ....etc
6 Day : take the bus to Tel Aviv City - Where to stay?
We are thinking of adding a day in Tel Aviv City and adding a day to do a tour from Tel Aviv to Jordan to see Petra.
QUESTION. are there hotels you recommend in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv?
If not any guidance on is there unwise areas to stay, etc?
Thanks all!

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by irl1 on Jul 17, 2019 23:48:21 GMT 1, When you come out the main door of the hotel turn right then cross the road straight away. A few hundred yards down at the junction you will see the big Banksy Dove. Make sure you ask where the little shop is with the Banksy stop & search as most miss this one.
Its better to walk for all below you get a better feel for the local life on the way and its not far to walk to the Square
2 day : Bethlehem Tour ( CAN I walk this or do I need a guide and driver/ maybe with Alaa? ) to visit Nativity church , Old City , Milk grotto, Shepherd's Field , Herodion and Mar Saba Monastery , Banksy Art
Oh you are in for a good one ........... enjoy

If you still do, you weren't paying attention.
I'd also suggest doing the Banksy Hotel walking tour day one. It may change your priorities for the rest of the trip.
My favorite part of my trip was the tour of Hebron. The tour guide was recommended by staff at the Banksy Hotel. I can't recommend the tour enough. hebrontours.abdallah@gmail.com

There is a huge part of me that wants to see any and everything I can. However, after the tour I may not be ok with putting any money into pockets that are less than favorable.
- Yup walking tour is planned. for first day.
-Hebron. What was it that you enjoyed about it? That a separate tour from the ones I have mentioned correct?

That a separate tour from the ones I have mentioned correct? Hebron is a place where the occupiers live very close to the locals. In areas the occupiers have taken over the second floors and live above locals. It is amazing (and not in a good way). You get a real sense of the conflict and the history. It is an emotional tour. It had a huge impact on me. Abdallah the tour guide was amazing (in a good way)

If i recall well Herodian is a wee bit out of Bethlehem and dont recall it being walking distance. We were in a taxi tour for a few hours and went there on the way back to Bethlehem at dusk but seem to recall it being a good 15-20 min drive back but i could be wrong.
If i were you I would allow yourself a good day venturing around the old city in Jerusalem and not just the Western Wall, its one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been to. We spent 1 night in Jerusalem on our second trip and it was worthwhile. Interestingly, on our first trip the young ex israeli soldier who was our Green Olive tour guide said that if we came back that we should spend some time visiting the old city and his advice was spot on.

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by jp on Jul 18, 2019 7:05:32 GMT 1, Finalizing my trip plans. Looking for some more input from those who have been. 1 day : Arrival - Walking tour - Do stencils at the Wall Mart. Good intro to Bethlehem, but I don't think you need a whole day for this. Maybe half day. 2 day : Bethlehem Tour ( CAN I walk this or do I need a guide and driver/ maybe with Alaa? ) to visit Nativity church , Old City , Milk grotto, Shepherd's Field , Herodion and Mar Saba Monastery , Banksy Art. You can walk to most of Bethlehem, but you may want the short cab ride if you plan to do tours, since the tours around the Nativity Church, Milk Grotto, etc already involve a lot of walking. 3 Day : Jericho Tour ( With Alaa ) to visit St. George Monastery , Hisham palace , Mt of Temptation , old City and Dead Sea. I did this on my last day and it was great. I would not change anything here. I stayed at a small boutique hotel called Arthur Hotel. I chose it because it is walkable to Damascus gate (the best gate!) in the old city, which is also where my Green Olive Tour began.5 day : DISCOVER JERUSALEM - Mt. of Olives , Mt. Zion , Temple Mount , Western Wall , ....etc The Western Wall is in the old city so if you go there you can easily see it. Also visit Church of the Holy Sepulchre while there, and walk the Via Dolorosa, the path that Christ walked when crucified. There is so much in the old city that you don't need the other stuff in my opinion. Instead, why not visit some other things like Mahane Yehuda Market and Mea She'arim?6 Day : take the bus to Tel Aviv City - Where to stay? I skipped this completely as so many people told me it's just a modern seaside city that you can find anywhere. Nothing really special. We are thinking of adding a day in Tel Aviv City and adding a day to do a tour from Tel Aviv to Jordan to see Petra. You need at least 2 days if you want to go to Petra. The drive alone is at least 6 hours each way and you have to stop at the border for your VISA. This takes time. I did a 2 day tour to Jordan / Petra and it felt rushed. I wish I had done the 3 day tour instead. I went with Abraham tours and loved it. Best part of my whole trip.QUESTION. are there hotels you recommend in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv? Arthur Hotel (see above). If not any guidance on is there unwise areas to stay, etc? I never felt unsafe anywhere I went, but did a lot of research ahead of time. I also spent a day in Hebron with Green Olive tours, and it was eye opening. I was going to go to Ramallah but a Palestinian was shot and killed the day before so tensions were running high. I arrived in Israel just 2 days after Trump announced the US Consulate would be moved to Jerusalem. The timing was....not great.
Thanks all! See comments above

Banksy - The Walled Off Hotel ★★★, by sijh on Jul 18, 2019 23:42:57 GMT 1, I was there a month or so ago, we did a cpl days in Jerusalem before the Walled Off, we stayed at the Post Hostel, cheap-ish, decent bar/breakfast, got free dinner a couple of nights.
I'd agree that once you've taken in Bethlehem, chances are you'll be annoyed too much back in Israel, else you missed the point.

No this one is the real deal. A lot of people miss this one as they built a little shop around the wall where it was painted. If you don't know its there you will miss it.

I took my wife and four of my daughters over (ages at the time) 6, 9, 12 and 13. They loved it so much i had to bring them a second time. .

You know yourself how safe it is so i just can't see a problem.
Find a nice clean part of the wall well away from the hotel and paint something for the baby. Sign it with the date and you have a great photo to show when he/she is older.

I took my son at 9 months and again at 13 months as we all had such a great time . He loved the rooms , textures and colours , when we stayed it was just opened , the carpets were thick and soft In the banksy room with colourful lights and cushions he liked in the banksy room , artist room was nice and long he liked to zoom about crawling and the vip room was an adventure for him . KFC in town has a soft play room!nice walking around town and old city and Dead Sea was fun . Even coming back from town walking at 11pm felt safe

I tried that , as it is becoming so popular , and wall space a minimum to paint , they keep greycoating and over paint stencils, I was a bit miffed paid for a stencil with dates of son and placed right on top edge at highest point 😕 revisited a few months later and sprayed over !

Lol I meant by the hotel , was thinking at the time easy place to revisit and a reminder when my son is older to view The further you go more space but lack of ladder likely to get over sprayed at some point . Nice area by the gate into Israel around corner from the hotel! Another pointer although fun staying in all the rooms it was a bit of a chore repacking and lugging all baby stuff everyday second trip did 4 days across the road and 3 nights in one room in woh , more settled for the parents!😇

'Dad, why can't we go to the waterpark like Holly and James?'
- Lets get across the border first and we will see what they have got eh.

Because 'normal' is boring, are only brain dead package deals allowed now I'm a parent ? Wouldn't use them before and I sure ain't now !
Plus Bethlehem at Christmas is about as festive as you can get.
