Otherwise you have to pay secondary market prices. A mate I grew up with ended up in the accounts department at Nike, meaning he has to look after all the athletes' accounts. In affect he became the gatekeeper. He doesn't care about the new sneakers only samples, vintage and PEs, so he regularly passes on his allocation and passes them at cost to friends and family. Usually they receive the pairs a week after the production date from China, which is months before a general release. While we regularly catch up for banter, billiards and whiskies, I have never stretched the friendship to ask for a pair even though he has offered in the past. Knowing that I can get any release at cost makes any current sneakers less desirable to me. I know that one can resell the shoes for a profit, but my focus is on other interests. I.e. vc, starting companies to flip and getting ready to participate in my first Gumball 3000. That being said, I will happily stick with my John Lobbs and Stan Smiths. Good luck to anybody that's still looking.

Disagree. A German footballer Serge Gnabry was showing his off on Instagram last week and he's just a Nike sponsored footballer with the odd international cap. I'm sure all Nike athletes will have these gifted.

These were very elegant IMO. Not gimmicky like reeboks collabs with Haring and Basquiat.
Wearing colorful snoopy sneaks would be a bit much no matter how much you like his art

This is true... but a lot of the trouble could have been avoided if the release was better managed.
People might still be annoyed at not getting a pair (We see it regularly with print drops), but at least release the things when you said you would, or when official sources said you would, or make the release date clear.
