Forum Auctions • Banksy Marketplace 🇬🇧, by Viking Surfer on Oct 12, 2016 16:41:11 GMT 1, If it is + premium it will be close to £85k Someone was willing to pay £85 (buyer) but someone was also willing to accept less than £69 (seller) Forum probably hyped the seller saying it was going to go for a new world record. I doubt the seller would be happy with the 69k (not even considering the fact they may have charged the consignor 10-15% too).
The main winners from the auction are Forum Auctions themselves. They'll do what they can to get the consignment.

Much like a Casino...the house always wins.

I'm new to the art market. What would you consider to be good deals here? Any bargains?
I thought the rude copper was cheap, maybe everyone was slow out the blocks.
Prices including fee's, this is what the buyer was prepared to pay. I heard a lot of Europe based galleries in the room so god knows what the retail is going to be going forward. Apologies for any mistakes, I couldn't be assd to check it. He was, the purchase price in an auction is always the definitive price point tho.... Just trying to provide objective context to new collectors / purchasers
Of course your point of view may differ based on your personal interests.
- Auction results without a doubt have the greatest influence on art prices however there is no such thing as a "definitive price point" for art. In an auction what may be considered "definitive" for that particular moment in time was that one individual was willing to pay more than anyone / everyone else felt the piece was actually worth. (Assuming you can log into the damn site... ;-)
- There is a gap that exists between what someone is willing to sell for and what someone is willing to pay and there are a host of personal motivations that will dictate each. In this case the gap is 35% (25% buyers fee and 10% seller based on previous posts estimates .) If this gap didn't exist than neither would auction houses.
- I would just recommend that if you are a new collector looking to buy a new piece don't use the highest someone was willing to pay as your starting off point.

I feel like this is mattering much less over time. Not seeing very many deep discounts or deals based on condition lately.
