Dran exhibition in Paris, by sircoxson on Jun 29, 2017 22:31:26 GMT 1, well done dran insiders to have kept this a secret, ie. off the forum.
so at least all (already) big time dran collectors could add some bargains to their dran og collections before anyone else.

Dran exhibition in Paris, by kyriakos on Jul 5, 2017 7:44:48 GMT 1, I heard there are still some prints and originals available ...yeah but only if 'she' likes the 'cut of your jib' ๐ True... And sad. I think it's one of the most disrespectful and humiliating situation I have ever lived. A girl playing a role and judging me like if I was not elected by the gods of art because my approach was not corresponding with the message of love of Dran. I really loved Dran. For real. For years. I don't care of the money I wanted to be part of the story. But the "girl" decided there are more valuable people than me. It's not like there was no more artworks at the time when I went there. It was really against me. I feel like shit

That's a shame and can understand your frustration. My opinion, is that if you love the work/artist and have the money, then why shouldn't you own something you love.
Dran being Dran, nothing is ever straight forward....maybe those who were 'successful' are still in for a surprise, good or not so good - who knows! ๐ค

Dran exhibition in Paris, by mehor on Jul 5, 2017 12:08:30 GMT 1, We came all the way from Berlin. Drove 10h to and back while maybe staying 3 h in total in Paris. If you go up to the very nice lady respectfully and show her how much you love Dran...it would have been so easy. There was absolutely no judging or anything. I even watched her with total strangers who really loved the works. But if you go to her and ask straight for originals she may have a Problem. She takes so much pride and time explaining the art and the game. I find it hard to believe. I have nevet experienced such an amazing thing and I can call myself a owner of xxx originals + the amazing print. I have never experienced so much generosity and I am very thankful

Dran exhibition in Paris, by The True Cubs Fan on Jul 5, 2017 21:05:00 GMT 1, This might totally be the wrong place to ask, so my apologies in advance. But I've been following Dran for a year or so, which I know makes me a novice in his following. I would still love to buy the right piece of his, I think his free speech is one of my all time favorite, but I have no idea where to buy directly from the artist. Do they only sell in secret, private shows this like one? Thank so much in advance, just trying to learn more

Dran exhibition in Paris, by kyriakos on Jul 5, 2017 23:19:32 GMT 1, Hi I think Dran is the most difficult artist to contact directly and he wouldn't "sell" anything. He is discreet, Doesn't like the art world and the money around, he is focused on painting and has been pissed off by some greedy gallerists in the past. He now protects himself behind trusted people. If you want this piece, secondary market is the only way in my view.

Hey, thanks for the info. Really interesting stuff and great to know. While I love the Free Speech piece, the more I learn about him and see his work the more I'm open to other pieces.
Are his trusted people mainly buyers who have been buying for a long time from him? Or does he have a vetting team and most people can buy something after being vetted
Thanks!

He is discreet, Doesn't like the art world and the money around, he is focused on painting and has been pissed off by some greedy gallerists in the past. He now protects himself behind trusted people. If you want this piece, secondary market is the only way in my view. I don't know if I'd contact him, directly. It ruined him for me. Long story short, I contacted him about a piece that I loved that pictured a macaque with 'Human Sucks' written on it. I asked if he'd release it as a print etc....We had a bit of back and forth and I told him how much I loved his work with primates, as I'd studied primates in Central America and Africa. Off hand, I mentioned that my dog had recently passed and then offered to send me an original. I offered to pay but he didn't want money. A few days later he asked that I give him my number. He called and we spoke for about 30 mins and it was primarily him yelling at me for telling him about my dog and trying to get free shit etc...It was bizarre, as I had just asked if he was making a print of the piece and told him how much I liked his work. We had some banter and then HE offered to send something. I said no at first and then offered to pay. Such a strange interaction. This was 6 years ago, this month. Still don't have any Dran in the collection. It sucks, as I really like his art but have no idea why he decided to go off on me. Save

Dran exhibition in Paris, by kyriakos on Jul 6, 2017 6:10:17 GMT 1, Wow!!! This story looks like... a Dran artwork. I'm not surprised, this guy looks truly nice and generous but paranoid and bipolar. You can tell it looking at his art. At same time i can understand. If you tell me you love "stairway to heaven" and I have a guitar with me I would play it for you, but him doing a piece for pleasure because you tell you love primates, it become a valuable artwork so pleasure becomes transaction.

Wow that story is amazing, intense and a little all over the place. So sorry you had such a crappy interaction. I was so worried the first time I met my the street artist that got me into the street art world, because I know what it's like to meet someone I look up to and have them be a huge let down.
I hope the experience hasn't ruined his art for you.
Poor guy sounds a bit tortured.

Still don't have any Dran in the collection. It sucks, as I really like his art but have no idea why he decided to go off on me. SaveWow that story is amazing, intense and a little all over the place. So sorry you had such a crappy interaction. I was so worried the first time I met my the street artist that got me into the street art world, because I know what it's like to meet someone I look up to and have them be a huge let down. I hope the experience hasn't ruined his art for you. Poor guy sounds a bit tortured.

I hope the experience hasn't ruined his art for you. Poor guy sounds a bit tortured. Admittedly, I was pretty pissed off for a good year or so. Recently, I've been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder, so I am in a quasi-unique position of understanding. Based on what others have stated, he may be struggling with his own/similar issues.
In saying that, I'm not sure I'd buy anything. If an 'Exhibit' came up at a good price, it would likely be in my collection, but I don't see that happening, so likely won't have to deal with it.
An apology would be nice but he probably a) doesn't remember and/or b) doesn't give a shit.
For the most part, the artists I've spoken with, have been amazing. Most are extremely accessible and friendly. The only artists that I thought were jerks were my fellow Canadian Sandra Chevrier and Jeremy Mann. All has been over email, so that could be part of it. Save

Dran exhibition in Paris, by sircoxson on Jul 6, 2017 17:37:10 GMT 1, Wow!!! You are spot on. As said above, Dran has trusted people and been taken advantage. He is now super paranoid and like many artists difficult to deal with directly. If you are after a print- I would look on the secondary market. Prices have dipped recently. Or follow French urban art auctions.
I would be interested to learn how/by whom he was taken advantage of...didn't he make good money with all his prints at ghp, pow etc?

Dran exhibition in Paris, by kyriakos on Jul 6, 2017 18:49:41 GMT 1, He doesn't look very interested by money. Its quotation is limited by the fact he sometimes, like this exhibition in paris "gives" for free some artworks (79 this time). A decent gallerist would have created scarcity and he would be tier one in prices. He is a genius in my view. It's work talks to me sometimes more than Banksy. He has a gift to generate raw emotion.
