Is FAILE over?, by hops on Jul 7, 2020 17:13:36 GMT 1, You are a salty clown Tom. This post says it all about your character and how you deal with your clientele. The Faile Tower was not โchopped upโ in any way, it was made up of 100โs of loose pieces that were never cut or damaged. No chopping like you claim, just disassembled. Faile never had me sign ANY agreement nor did Perry Rubinstein Gallery to keep the Faile Tower as one. In fact when I purchased it in 2010 Rubinstein Gallery asked me if I would keep the piece as one or part it out into pieces eventually. After 9 years of owning I decided to sell pieces individually to at least get half my 100k back. Get the facts straight Tom. You are a despicable person in real life, and you wasted my time once when you flew to see my collection. I even paid for your hotel. Talk about someone who canโt pay their bills. Look at yourself and your failing gallery and see who you really are. A clown on the brink of losing everything, including your integrity. Lol this isnโt Tom you unhinged lunatic, my name is Will and we both know you wouldnโt talk that kindas**t to our faces short stuff. Itโs too bad that old thread about what exactly you did and what the people on the board thought about you is gone because it was hilarious. You scammed people so hard you even had fake welded metal frames made for the individual sections Lolololol. And if what you did was legit why did Faile call you out after they had lots of people asking for them to certify the sections as legit when they never had any intentions of it being parted out?! But we are the clowns? Lol Nobody got scammed at all and 95% buyers were completely happy with their pieces. That โold threadโ is not gone either you monkey. Look down about half way on the Faile page and youโll see the post โPSA Faile Towerโ Again, get all your facts straight you clown. You sound just as miserable as your partner Tom at Black Book Gallery in Denver.

Not sure how I feel about a gallery coming on here and talking in that manner and openly admitting to ' F*cking ' with someone whatever has gone on in the past.. doesnt really make me want to spend money ..
I also hadnt realised Faile pieces sold for $100k...
Not my battle, but not really sure this kind of thing needs to be on here at all

Is FAILE over?, by zacksz 123123 on Jul 8, 2020 13:00:33 GMT 1, Could I ask how breaking up the Faile tower is any different then letโs say... breaking up the suitcase of di-face tenners and selling each individually.
The suit case auctioned at 16 and then 24k lb. the greedy people who split this up against the original COA are making a killing but it wasnโt the artists original intention and the buyer had to put their trust no longer in a COA but in the person splitting it up. Fast forward to today, people now are looking for the laz letter as if this means anything.
Wasnโt there also a Hirst piece cut up recently? They cut each dot into its own individual square, and then had certificates from the cutter for each circle. Yes each circle together fetched more than the original piece.
It also seems that this Faile piece is real and up to the buyer to do with as they choose to do so as I have mentioned with other recent pieces being split up. If the buyer created some little fancy letter or certificate with each piece that was split up would it then please the masses as laz is doing with his monthly releases and increased prices on each release?
There should be something said about trying to make some very expensive art more accessible by separating it into pieces. If a banksy original was going to be cut up I bet people would jump on it in a second too!

Yup, First - that went intense fast. Second - 100k, I'm off now to try find pics of the original piece and the subsequent pieces of said piece.

Is FAILE over?, by Express Post on Jul 9, 2020 1:28:22 GMT 1, I think what this thread means by Faile being over is that Faile prices are underwater, worth less than cost. People have fลซcked their money, and there is zero flip value. Guy can't get back his money for the Faile tower.
You can still chase those early pieces, but I doubt you are going to offer more than cost. More likely going to be disrespectful and offer less than cost. You could be like, 'How low will you go?' or 'Is that the best price?'.
Bit shฤฏt if ur the owner holdin for 16+ years.

Is FAILE over?, by maw314 on Jul 9, 2020 3:10:37 GMT 1, I own a handful of Failes and I will never sell them. They are great artists willing to take risks and theyโve evolved for the better over time. I will keep buying failes I like for the foreseeable future.
Some of you are obsessed with less talented artists, who will prove to be a flash in the pan, just because someone else might pay like 20-50% more for their works than you did (the โgreater foolโ).
โIs Faile overโ as a subject line made me laugh. If you myopically focus on minor changes in market prices and think those changes reflect quality you should take up another hobby - like knitting.

Is FAILE over?, by Gentle Mental on Jul 9, 2020 4:18:40 GMT 1, Flipping Faile is kinda over. For now. They need a second wind. Some new big auction results. A successful show in Asia. The return of Aiko? Something.
If Mr Doodle can do it...
Faile hasnโt progress much though. The older work feels more gutsy, raw, random and iconic.
They are losing their โstreetโ touch.
The newer ones are too polished. Corporate. Too Adobe/Vector - ish?
Just realised, at their best, Faile do give the same cool vibes as the great Pettibone.
Nonetheless - still very lovely art to have on your walls.
Quite timeless aesthetics.
Their work delivers far more joy than 90 percent of the hot crap hyped in these forums.

I guess we need to treat this case by case. For your sales, what was the ballpark profit/loss as a percentage, and how long was the hold?

Is FAILE over?, by pac on Jul 22, 2020 2:24:57 GMT 1, The boxes are never going to sell as quickly as prints - there are just fewer people that can work them in to their decor.. Let alone flat file. Plus shipping is a pain for non US buyers in the case of this one.
Not sure why so much energy being put in to all this but maybe people are bored.

Is FAILE over?, by Express Post on Jul 22, 2020 2:53:58 GMT 1, Profit is profit.
For example just say the average spend was $300 for three prints. Say 30%, average 25-35%, so $90 a print. Held over 4 years, so $22.50 per annum. Cost of ship was $20 a print. Leaves you with $70 a print, or $210 total made over 4years. $52.50 a year.
I should have said that the market for $2k and above faile works are over.
Sub $500 easier to move.
You can sell any piece of art by any artist as long as the price is low enough. I guess we need to treat this case by case. For your sales, what was the ballpark profit/loss as a percentage, and how long was the hold? 25-35% profit across the board with 4-5 year holds, no losses.ย

Is FAILE over?, by supercade on Jul 22, 2020 3:20:33 GMT 1, So this is about as classic Faile image as you can get, right here! Classic Faile and this guy can't give this thing away... FAILED TO SELL So Faile IS basically over. Listed for $6k, posted all of 11 days ago... โCanโt give it awayโ Sure dude Okay. I really regret bumping this thread... but using this one work not selling immediately as a gauge of their career is insane. The boxes are amazing, but they are tough to consider buying. At least for me. Any of the multi-sided pieces are. You have to treat it as sculpture and to display it properly so all sides can be appreciated it will most likely be exposed. You can case in acrylic, but that ruins the aesthetic, imho. I don't have a vitrine for works like this so it would go on a table or shelf where a guest or housekeeper could easily knock it over and at that price... well, it's a risk. I mean, you could frame it, but then what side do you put forward? I'm just saying it's a difficult piece to display unless you have a dedicated gallery space. And $6K for a cool object sitting on a table is a challenge for most. Hell, I put a relatively small metal-framed "Faile Girl" block work in a Soho House exhibition I did and the installer just about wanted to strangle me because it was so heavy. He had to go out and get special anchors. These works require the right buyer.
