so cute you'll want to cut its head off, by morrissey1 on Oct 25, 2007 18:46:11 GMT 1, Mark Ryden is going to release his new print, California Brown Bear, sometime next week. It's $500.00 US, from an edition of 500. A bit pricey. Visit Porterhouseart.com to see. Is it too cute? Yes. Does it deserve to die? Jury's still out.

I have the General Sherman, it's not as creepy as most of his stuff and is a really nice print. I also bought the bunnies and bees book, it is really cool for the price.

I would say it is hunting season.
P.S. The bears in California look different. Cuter.

I had the lithograph/print discussion yesterday in another forum. These Ryden lithograph's (i.e. General Sherman too) are some of the highest quality lithographs you can find...porterhouse does an amazing job with them. There's not a ton of difference between these high quality lithographs and fine art prints.
So people shouldn't let the fact that it's a lithograph poster deter them from buying...however, the price and edition size is a whole other story.

From what I understand regarding his appeal though, this should sell out fairly quickly, correct?
I have also noticed that the current General Sherman secondary market price seems to be close to the original asking price (again $500). It seems to be an anomaly compared with other prints, for example, the "Rosie's Tea Party" or "The Creatrix". I do like this print, though I won't be putting it up on my 7 year old daughters wall! Do you think that it would be better to wait and buy on secondary market, or the initial sale (assuming that I'm in the right place at the right time)?
