Just checking out the dimensions. The Date with Death is huge! Not sure if the boss would have been cool with that in the living room. Anyways, congrats to those who snagged one (or both). I struck out on the Chevrier and Dface releases but decided to spend the money saved on getting some prints framed.

Finally. Nice to see someone on the forum offering a sold out print they don't want at cost. Bravo sir. Bravo.

The prices are just too crazy for more of the same. Seems like everything is basically double what it should probably sell for. I would have snatched up a book or 2 if they were more reasonably priced for a 5" original 

I don't think the books are really over priced. Even though they are small where can you get an original D*Face for under $2k. Additionally, I think there are some killer pieces there, "Drive By Shouting" and "Unlikely Hero" are both not only huge but they are so nice that they would be the center of attention in any room. There are a lot of very wealthy people in LA unfortunately you and I are not some of them. However, if I had millions I would drop that cash on either one of those paintings. I also don't think D*Face should be discounted. After all he has had a large impact on the urban art scene and been around from pretty much the start. He's been very successful breaking new ground in different markets from album covers for some top acts to clothing to mattresses to whatever else he's lent his name and art to. He's still very active with his prints and doing murals. I get it, some people don't like the repetition and similarity of some of his pieces but that art is who he is and I for one like his work. I think we should put things into context here, How much would a similar sized original by Faile or Kaws or some of the other great artist of our time go for? These are big beautiful originals and I don't necessarily think that they are overpriced, it's just that people like you and me are underfunded. But hey, that's life.

I agree, Kaws is more well known but a Kaws piece that large would be way more than $86k usd. I was just trying to make a comparison on pricing. But yeah, if I had a few million I wouldn't think twice about dropping the money on one of those two original pieces. The fact is that ten years ago smaller pieces were $50k at auction. I know different artist's popularity changes but I don't think anyone can deny D*Face's impact in the urban art world and it's history. It's obvious which demographic he's going after with these originals. It's just not us. The point of my OG post was about how nice some of the originals are and that IMHO they don't seem that far out of line with some of his contemporaries. That's all.
