When I got mine, I contacted the YSP Museum asking for some info and they let me know they stocked 2700 Open Edition companions. I can't imagine the worldwide figures.

I refuse to purchase open editions, timed editions, and lazy variants which all ruin the collectability.

Now that the speculation has departed over whether the open editions will only be temporary, the jig should be up. But perhaps people have too much money to spend it sensibly these days. Has KAWS created any new and fresh art lately? They say that his 'art' blurs the line between fine art and mass-produced merchandise, but perhaps the price is the only thing that blurs the line?
